Excellent I’am in Puerto Rico and currently developing a couple of acres with breadfruit and will add some cacao trees once I get some shade , saw your video on air layering, and loved it I’ve try a few layering on my adult tree and had just a few successes, but love to watch others techniques and alway learn something, thanks from 🇵🇷 Carlos and Ana Las Amazonas farm in Morovis.
Awesomealoha! Mahalo for this. Planted our ma'afala ulu yesterday. As chair of the Senate Agriculture and Environment Committee, I urge you to continue the important work you're doing. Let me know if I can assist you in any way.
Aloha Mike! Mahalo nui loa for watching my video and for planting an ulu of your own. I really believe food security for the islands start in our own backyard. I'm also having fun making videos and I plan on continuing this work into the future. I'd ask for you to share my channel but since I have the ear of one of our representatives I'd love for you to keep fighting for small local farmers. Ensure Access to affordable farmland and perhaps give a look into bamboo's place in Hawaii's construction industry. Simple enough ask 🤣😂🤣. Anyhow thanks again. P.S. we named are daughter Tulsi too. Wish your Tulsi could've been our next president.
Thanks for the info! I've tried previously to air layer maybe about 5 separate times, with no luck. With your info I realized the vertical growths I was selecting was too young. Much Mahalos
A Braddah I was just telling my wife about growing ulu. I not ready for em yet but I was hoping you could source me with that Ulu. If can. I willing for pay. We building in Puna but still in progress. I definitely find your video inspiring and would be good if more of us grow this food. Good stuff
If you give me a month or two I'll give you the 'ulu that I propagated in the video, it's not quite ready yet. I'm not looking for money. Just trying to get more people to grow food. I'm in puna too. It's a maafala ulu
ahhhh!!!!! it was a cringy to see you dig into that rooting hormone with your fingers. I would personally use the gel type and brush it on. love your channel by the way. hope to join you soon
Thanks! I’ve got a keiki ulu going at the base of my tree right now. Do you have video harvesting the keiki? I’m not sure if I just cut it off the parent root and put it in a pot or do I need to do something similar with the air layering before I disconnect it from the parent root?
I’m working on that video right now as I just harvested a few myself. You can just cut it off the parent root and remove the leaves, pot it up and leave in the shade for a few months. The roots will restablish and then the leaves will regrow
I'm daydreaming and learning a lot about 'ulu today. How cool is it that there is a Hawai'i 'Ulu Cooperative??!! Their website has a ton of recipes. What's your favorite preparation method?

Airlayering breadfruit is one of my favorite things to do. I love to share the tree with others. Good luck!
A couple of acres? Be sure to read the pdf "BREADNUT AND BREADFRUIT PROPAGATION: A manual for commercial propagation" (2012)
