Hi Kim. I was so interested in your daily routines. I am a hobby potter, retired thankfully. I could not believe how much work you put into your day. Have you guys always worked as full time potters? I really admire how dedicated you are. I also love your glaze kiln openings. In fact you are my favourite potter to watch 😊Jeanette
Wow thank you Jeanette!! I have been a full time potter for 10 years now! Todd joined me in doing pottery full time 2 years ago! I do try to get a lot done in a day, seeings how this is our only source of income, so I want there to be lots of options for people! Todd thinks I work too hard and he is probably right 😂
Thanks for such an informative vlog! It's so helpful to see how other potters approach their work, especially where they have developed some efficiencies in their workflow. With the quantities of pieces you produce I am amazed that you persevere with so many brushing glazes from a time management perspective, but given the beautiful results you achieve I can certainly appreciate your approach.
It was very informative you do amazing things in a short period of time. It’s a true blessing to love what you do and share with others! Hope you do more of these I enjoyed watching 😊
What a fabulous video. I love your display....boxes really compliment your stunning ceramics. Thank you for sharing your awesume video. Your a very busy lady indeed and Todd well done. Regards from New Zealand.
Hey, Kim! Thanks for sharing your daily routine as a production potter. It is quite amazing. The amount you can get done in a week just astounds me. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Kim, I loved this video. Thank you so much for sharing your process. I’m exhausted just from seeing how much work you got done in only 3 days!😱 I think this really gave us an idea of what a production potter goes through. And you have to be this organized, like an assembly line. Wow, I’m very impressed. Thanks again!🙏🏻💕
Thank you for showing your daily routine 😊 I have a full day on Wednesdays in my pottery and the time goes so quickly and I run out of space! Your studio has lots of lovely space 😊
That was an incredible video, thanks so much! Lots of tips. I use a drywall mud/paint mixer to mix up my reclaim, then put it on plaster slabs for a couple of days, then into the pug mill - that takes care of most of the lumps. I just wish I had purchased a larger pug mill, as mine is the smallest of the Peter Pugger mills.
@moeadesign here...Loved the studiotour. It looks so wellplanned, and I learned more again. Hope you return to take us with you again in the future! Thank you so much Kim:-) PS I would love to see the mangotango combo🙂
I love the video, Kim you are amazing 😻 thank you so much for sharing. Can you please let me know how long it takes for you from the moment you throw a mug until you put it in for first fire? I know it depends on a lot of and it probably will be different for me but I wanted to have an idea 😊 Thank you one more time 😘
Thank you so much Ania, for the coffees, you blew me away!!! It’s usually about 4-5 days for my mugs to be dry enough to fire in the summer months. In the winter, when the heat is on and it’s drier it’s 2-3 days.
Thanks for taking us along. We are considering a full time business and this is a nice window into what it would look like. A lot of work! How do you sell all that product? Do you put it in stores or just online? It looks like you have a great business! Way to go!
Thank you! We have a store in our home, plus we sell online! Right now the store is very full, so we are hoping it is a good season! You really have to work hard to promote yourself! Promote in every stream available to you, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Google and of course UA-cam 😊
I loved this video. Please will you do a blog about how you started the pottery. I’m at the point where I’m about to move into an industrial unit from my home studio as I’ve outgrown it and can’t fit any more students, so you have any tips?
Wow, that’s a big step, good for you! We are very blessed that our home has an amazing space for our pottery studio, so we don’t have an extra expense for a studio! But, yes I have been thinking about doing a video on getting started and the business side of things!
Thanks unseth would love r to know how you set the studio ie where you put things and why and what is essential and wot can wait I’m running classes so I need more wheels but will I get by for now with my small plug in kiln?????
Hi Kim, can you link where you got your foam trimming bat? When I search online, the only one that comes up is from diamond core and theirs is $28 USD, which isn’t bad but you said yours was $16? Thx, Nadia
Wow. I’ve never actually seen a pug mill in action!! Thanks so much for showing us!! That slab cutter is amazing. I have one and I never use it!! I definitely need to!! I sooo love the way your studio is color coded!! It’s soooo beautiful!! So when you lay out all of the bisque to glaze do you wipe it all down or rinse it? Also do you place all of the things you want to glaze the same glazes on in one section and then glaze? It all looks so well organized!! Seeing you pour those glazes reallly makes me want to dip and pour but I really do like the glazing process. But it sure would be nice to have a few key dip glazes that I use alot!! I had really good luck with brushing the engines onto greenware. I used a really floppy fan brush and added 2 coats, one horizontal and one vertical and it completely covered! The biggest thing to keep in mind is that you don’t want to go over and over one spot on the clay because it will pick it up. But I see that you added the engine and then the glaze. I feel like I’m too messy. Lol. My gosh that is ALOT of glazing done in one day!! My gosh. The blue in the northern lights comes from the obsidian actually being a very dark blue so the other colors bring that out more. I know this video was a lot of work but you did amazing!! Thanks so much.
I have some glaze recipes that I got from plainsman clay! One is called ravenscraig white and ravenscraig black, you can find them if you search google!
Thank you for sharing Kim , I’m a hobby potter and love following you and your husband’s UA-cams. Blessings to you and your family ❤️🙏🏼

Thanks for the tip on trimming on the wheel and just giving the bottoms a sponge. I tried that on a batch of mugs tonight and saved loads of time! :)
Awesome 👏

Yes glazing is ridiculous but I can’t go back to simple! I do cut corners where I can, like liner glazes!
I am considering standing like you do … I think my body would prefer it ! Thanks Kim .
Standing is so much better for the body, you move around more! I used to sit at the wheel and would have a hard time straighten my back after!
This was really great to be able to follow along daily and see how your studio runs. thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!

So funny that everyone has said that! I always feel like I’m not doing enough! Perhaps I should be happy with what I accomplish 😂
@@undsethpottery yes you accomplish a lot. And it’s nice that your husband also helps. 👍🏻
I liked this alot. Thank you for sharing. Greetings from Finland.
Wow, Finland, how amazing to be able to contact this way 😊
I loved it.🎉
Thank you 😊
Thanks for sharing lots of work and dedication involved how thick do you cut your slabs for handles and how thick are your handles after extruded
I would say the slabs are 1/2” afternoon firing the handles are 3/8-1/4” thick
@@undsethpottery thank you I have been learning everything from you tube and I cant make a handle I love yet this might help
I learned a lot! Thank you!
You are very welcome, glad you got something out of it 😊
Thank you for showing your daily routine 😊 I have a full day on Wednesdays in my pottery and the time goes so quickly and I run out of space! Your studio has lots of lovely space 😊
Thank you! Yes time flies in the studio and I never get as much done as I had hoped to!
This was unbelievable!! So much work and this was only 3 days!!! Thank you for sharing! I learned some shortcuts, which are always invaluable. ❤
So glad you enjoyed it and gleaned something from it 😊
Hi Kim, I enjoyed the vlog. I would have liked to have seen the glazed pieces come out of the kiln.
I just posted the video of the finished pieces!
Hi Kim, I did just see that you posted the finished pieces. Perfect.. @@undsethpottery

@@undsethpottery You're welcome. How do I keep the "thanks" private? I didn't really want it listed in the comments.
I actually have no idea! I tried to hide it but I don’t have that option!
@@undsethpottery There is a "button" that says delete, but I'm worried it will delete the whole transaction, not just the comment. Should I try?

No I haven’t tried dark flux yet, I’ve thought about it!
