I have car with CVT, (Toyota) i have owned this car for 9yrs now.. I am a funny of how CVT transmission equiped cars drive, quick response and quick acceleration with no gap on gear shifting., (Yet CVT transmission is always at perfect gear ratio because of absence of pre defined gear ratios, unlike traditional Automatic gearbox, so this eliminates gear hunting problem in CVT equiped cars as compared to cars equiped with normal automatic gear box:-the problem of geat hunting is common to traditional AT especially going uphill, this is due to predefined gear ratio) Cvt transmissions require proper maintenance (usage of OEM transmission fluid) unless otherwise your transmission fail prematurely. Nissan and Mitsubishi CVT transmissions have inherent manufacturer defect. Design issues is what commonly leads to premature failure of Nissan cvts... I wish one day you post a video on dissected nissan cvt vs Toyota cvt, then your viewers will understand what i want to say here...nissan design is very vulnerable to failure compared to Toyota one.. nissan cvt pulleys slides on shaft equiped with very small balls (three balls) where these balls are in between grooves of pulleys and grooves of input shaft from engine side (from torque converter), so these balls transmit torque from input shaft to the input pulley, then input pulley (driving pulley) transfer energy to driven pulley through belt..and gear shifting is achieved through diameter variation between driving pulley and driven pulley (remember belts is of fixed size, so when diameter of pulleys of onevside increase, the other one decreases to effect gear ratio variation. So with time these small balls fail, or they do create their own grooves due to being subject to torque every time, so these created grooves make a way for these balls inside shaft to escape, hance cvt transmissions failure... But this is not a case for Toyota and Honda....where the shaft and pulley grooves are connected by multiple rods to reduce torque stress on each individual rod...so this make inherent design failure to be absent in Toyotas and Hondas. Also Toyota has gone far in their cvt design by introducing first gear which is physical gear for high initial torque and followed by normal cvt in rest of gears. Since CVT is a gearless transmission, and uses belt (which run through gearless/teeth less pulleys) to transmit power to tires, the belt need mechanisms of getting friction grip to enable Power transfer in a gearless environment. So here is where CVT transmission fluid comes in..cvt fluid is different from ATF transmission fluid.. ATF fluid is used in transmission system with gears, so ATF is only providing pressure to enable clucthes to hold together so that power to get transferred to wheel, but also to provide lubrication and cooling but not to create friction.. But cvt fluid apart from all other uses of ATF fluid, CVT fluid creates grip/friction to pulleys surface to enable cvt belt to carry power from driving pulley to driven pulley.. So when ATF fluid is used in CVT transmission car there will be no friction created between pulleys and belt so slippage will start to happen...the slippage will cause burning, burning will lead to failure of the transmission system..hence expensive repair... So my cvt people like what Erick has said, stick to recommend cvt transmission fluid if you want it lasts longtime, avoid using universal transmission fluids. If you are a heavy foot driver (driving like maniac, higher rpm) avoid Nissan cvt...unless drive steady let the car pick up speed and it wont take time for cvt equiped car to gain speed because of gapless gear shifting, remember cvt equiped cars go higher speed at low rpm. @sammywere7762 of course your CVT fail... u replace your fluid as long as 3 years ago... is should be done every 30k KM... any car u drive will fail if u repeat this mistake again...
They do that coz CVTs are designed with their proprietary fluid in mind. Any use of a different fluid will cause them to fail, that's why they won't just sell you anything they don't want you blaming them later down the line. Nissan and even Honda want you to use only specific fluids and nothing else.

Mr.Wokabi do you think we shoud slightly increase the amount of CVTF in the transmission after installing another cooler? What is your take on this. Good day.
@@dindiharris6375 But remember that when the engine runs and fluid circulation takes place, there will be alittle reduction of fluid in the transmission because the new cooler and its piping will be filled with oil even if you did not lose oil during the instalation. (it takes almost 3lts, so fill the fluid until when transmission fluid will start to drop down through that small pipe where drain plug goes.. so once you start seeing drippings of excess fluid, it means the fluid has reached its required level. So return the draining plug and you are good to go.
