once i have the knowhow i might do the lojack idea but mess around w my phone's electronics to wire in a 3s2p 18650 \LTO battery pack (since lto has much better longevity and safety than competing chemistries like li-ion and lipo) and then sew it discreetly into one of the back seats and reupholster over the top of that
I have a couple of questions... 1) If you turn off the device while it is connected to power, is it going power off and immediately turn on again? (similar to a reboot) 2) If you run very low of battery you may be unable to ever complete a boot or recharge the battery so ending in a dead-loop right? my current need is to have an always-on android device that will eventually reboot (or turn on again) in case of a crash
@@psykopat81yes, I could achieve both goals. Having a rooted samsung device I could replace the /system/bin/lpm binary with a script. Just google for this and will find examples using this approach
@@felipeoliveira895 no. In my experience the device will attempt to boot immediately. If battery is too low this brings to an endless loop. To prevent this I have set a 5 minutes sleep in lpm script. Depending on your device it should get enough charge to complete the boot
@@mqtt07 interesting solution! But even if it's stuck in boot loop. Is that really a problem? It will keep looping until there's enough battery when it'll finally boots successfully anyway.
Very good video! Awesome job! After watching and following along. I got the following error message: FAILED (remote: not support on security) Can you help? Thank You in advance.!
Samsung doesn't use Fastboot. They have their own bootloader. Samsung make some good hardware but then lock it down more then most other devices, which is sad. There is probably a way to do it, but it's going to be different then most other Android devices.
You could use this command to check the status of AC power and then act accordingly. dumpsys battery|grep "AC powered"|awk '{print $3}' or in termux: termux-battery-status|grep plugged|cut -d\" -f4 termux-job-scheduler can also check the power status and you can run a script when there is no AC power, although this will only check every 15 minutes at most.
Android is a "real" Linux system, but I get what you mean. You can run any Linux Distro that supports ARM (if your device is ARM) along side Android. It's super easy to do and no root is required. Android would still be running as well, but something like Debian can be up and running with it. As far as removing Android and running something like Debian, your biggest issue is probably going to be drivers. wiki.termux.com/wiki/Debian
Sadly it doesn't work for Xiaomi Mi A2. It reports success but doesn't change anything.
I was working with a Nexus 6p, and the command I ended up using was " $fastboot oem off-mode-charge disable" (or enable), not 0 or 1.

Dear sir, how to do with samsung galaxy s8, S9, S10?
Is there a way using the same software to have it shut off when disconnected from power, rather than adding more software like Tasker?
Not Working on Android 14 HyperOS

This might be a dumb question, but would this work with wireless charging? I want to save my usbc for data.
So excited for ur 3 uses upcoming videos, yes yes. More more android.
I'm so glad you are so excited.
Do you know what the commands would be if the device is not seeing a charge it will shut down? I'm trying to use tablet as a car head unit
You could use Macrodroid to do that.
Did you ever figure this out, doing the same
can you help me. xiaomi 8 . cant detect my phone even my xiaomi phone is in fastboot mode. how?

How we can fix same problem in one plus 9 pro please...
So works with any android phone except Samsung? Trying to buy a phone with fastboot so i can do a simple "car phone" install for my elderly father.
Samsung makes some good hardware, but I stopped buying their devices about 10 years ago because of this very thing. Why not just use fastboot.?
No works on Redmi 7a. Maybe qualcomn processors fault?
Any devices that it is confirmed to work on? I know pixels are good, samsungs are not, xiaomi/redmi bad as well. What about others?

i need exact thing, did you find any answer or solution for "always on phone"?

I would guess that the device will off until there is enough power in the battery to turn it on.

Cool but how do I make it turn off when power isnt connected to the phone?
This can likely be achieved with an automation app.
You could use this command to check the status of AC power and then act accordingly.
dumpsys battery|grep "AC powered"|awk '{print $3}'

termux-battery-status|grep plugged|cut -d\" -f4

thanks kris.
not a problem
Can we do this on samsung s20? (To turn on when it plugged)
Last I check Samsung don't use Fastboot like most Android devices. So I'm not sure what you would need to do, or if it's possible with that device.
not working on lenovo k4 note, can you please help ?
do you get an error message?
Thanks Kris, just what we wanted. Thumbs up !!
Thanks man, awesome tip!!
xiaomi not work
On redmi k20 pro its not working.. any solutions. How can i do this ?
I don't know. If you're device is running fastboot it should work. What messages do you get when you try?
WHO'S GIVING AWAY THE PHONES WHERE?
