I love the music, sounds like a medieval dance tune. I've watched several of your videos on hand crank machines. There is just something therapeutic about them.

Thanks! I think it's the clickety clack... like an old steam train on tracks. Thanks for watching 😊

Good stuff there. I have never seen a 15K in my neck of the woods. My 201K will not handle the heavy threads as well as the 15. My hand crank is a 66 and I suspect it will struggle with the heavy threads as well. I'll give it a try and, in the meantime, keep an eye out for the 15K. Thanks for taking us beyond the norm.

Well, the maximum is the dense denim or dense but not much thick upholstery. Layers shifting is much of the problem. Which is solved by ether tripple or double feed industrial machines. So, these iron Singers have their limits too. But still very handy as deomestic machines.

Do you have a Janome New Home model 445? Just got one. No idea how it works. Just ordered a manual.

I do have a New Home but not that one. I haven't got it up and running yet. It's missing some bits.

I love your videos. I have learned so much from them. I used your information to date my machine. It’s a 15k born December 24, 1947. My question is about what I see when I read that a machine is a 15-88 or 15-90 (for example). What does the 88 or 90 represent and how do I find out what my 15k is?

The "K" indicates that your machine was built in Kilbowie, Scotland... like mine! The numbers after the "K" refer to slight differences between the machines. The 80 is a hand crank. The 91 is a potted motor. The 88 has reverse and so on... Check this page out: needlebar.org/main/15chart/ it might help you work out which one you have. Let me know! Thanks for watching! 🙂

@@SimplyStitchy Thank you so much! I knew what the “k” stood for but I was clueless about the numbers to the right of it. My research continues!

@@SimplyStitchy Will it be possible to convert it from the electric (which it is) to a treadle? I saw you convert one to a hand crank but I am not sure about operating a hand crank and I also have a treadle base available.

It depends on which Singer 15 you have. If it's the 15-91... probably not as it's a potted motor. If your machine has a bolt-on motor and is belt driven, it should be possible to convert to a treadle. You'll need to swap the hand wheel for a spoked one (it's bigger so will be easier to spin by hand to get the treadle going) and you might need to swap out the bobbin winder.

@@SimplyStitchy Thank you. It’s potted…so no treadle conversion.

Well, Podolsk PMZ-1A (15-88/89)/German Singer plant equipment relocated to uSSR. It sews everything, but unfortunately feed dogs aren't the same as an industrial machine has :-/, so the feeding is rather the problem.
