the individual parts are ordinary, the technique classic (great craftsmanship) but once the parts are together, it becomes this alien thing. Beautiful and extraordinary.
Where was the restoration facility as shown in the video? Is there any history on the sailplane such as: *What year it was constructed. *Who owned it (History of ownership) *Specifications including performance data *Problems encountered during restoration *Potential test flights after restoration *Covering material *Records set while in operation and reasons behind [advantages of] the design
I was hoping someone would build a modern version of this amazing sailplane. Using current materials. How would it compare to a standard cruciform sailplane in performance? I would like to think it would perform better. To my knowledge this Horten glider might be the best plane ever made. It’s certainly one of the prettiest.
This is not the best version of the wing. The horton brothers made multiple successor gliders, and eventually a jet engine model. And the jet was similar but not the same. Leading me to believe they improved upon the glider.
AK-X is not a horten-layout but also a flying-wing high performance glider. End of the 80s the was SB-13 completed. ua-cam.com/play/PLQJki8gzXARU9PNwKO46s_P50S7fx2kOB.html
Well worth the restoration even if it doesn't fly. Without the restoration you couldn't appreciate the sublime shape, blue prints can't do it justice. Too risky to gamble the life of the pilot. A RC flying scale model is the way to go if you want to test it's flying characteristics.
A voice over by someone that understood the aerodynamic theory, design and construction details of this aircraft would be greatly appreciated. Terrible musac is NOT.

Thanks a lot for uploading this video. The photos are amazing!
Awesome. What an achievement...both the original design..and the restoration...but to see it fly.
If only.
Great photos and the music creates a great sense of suspense of what is coming next!
The music,if thats what you call it,is awful...spoils the whole thing !
Presented is the Horten IV, not the 6. The results are perfect, truly...
Sounds like tango music. I like it.

SORRY ABOUT THE SOUND TRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is fantastic thanks!
@tinorkertesz If you can find some people who would donate a couple million dollars im sure Northrop would build a flying version
Horten brothers knew their shit mate.

DEVE SER COISA ANTIGA, COM MATERIAIS DE HOJE PODE SE FAZER COISA MAIS LEVE, MAS SEU DESENHO É LINDISSIMO.!

All that for something to hang in a museum.
