    I just returned an album last week because of this problem. I know most people don’t like Amazon, but their return policy is the best. And their shipping has improved immensely. The price on this isn’t too bad. I’m a little up in my years to justify buying this, but I definitely would’ve bought one when I was younger if it was available. (But we didn’t need one) One other thing is, I’m very surprised my 50+ year old records I’ve had my whole life are in such good shape. And it’s just disturbing that so many new records are warped. Never had this problem back in the day, at least not like this. I don’t remember having a warped album. I’m gonna say it, and probably get in trouble for it, but the quality today is nothing like it was. From buildings, to cars, just everything…i’ll just leave it at that. Happy Holidays to everyone!

      This gave me a laugh, as it looks exactly like something I would have said. I also have 45s and LPs from the late '60s and early '70s that are in excellent shape and sound just fine. I just retired this year and bought a new hifi rig and got back into vinyl, and have been buying records and to a lesser extent CDs. I've been lucky and have only had a couple of Amazon purchases I've had to return, with one LP having an 'A' Side label on both sides, and the replacement being the same, lol. I agree about the quality of things these days, but we just have so much more stuff available and unfortunately most of it is foreign made, with a lot of Chinese junk. With the demise of American manufacturing we've lost a lot of quality and durability. Anyway, have a great Christmas.

      Of course everybody loves the Amazon return policy. I prefer to buy from sellers who agree to remove the vinyl from the cover, seam splits during shipping is my biggest pet peeve, and easily avoided. Always a risk with Amazon purchases.

      Most times I"ve gotten them they were in those album shipping boxes inside a carton. The last one was loose in an oversizes carton with a few of these worthless air bladders, but luckily it wasn't damaged. I have no idea what Amazon's policy is on shipping vinyl records.

    been using the Record Pi close to 2 years and I can definitely say that this purchase was the best investment I made. I have flatten close to 150 records from the 80, 90 and new releases. Now I can buy sealed records from the 80's and 90's and no longer worried if they are warped. I had to make a lot of changes to my current method. It is a great tool and once you find that sweet spot, you're golden. What has been working for me for 80s and 90s records (140 gram) I baked them for 2 hours at 138 degrees and a cooling period of 45 minutes. For 180 gram, I baked them for 3 hours and leave them to cool for an hour. So far there has not been a record that I could not fix with the Record Pi. See ya around! JC/Miami

      @TheVinylDen  11 місяців тому +1

      I've found some older '80s albums that were sealed that I decided to pass on because of the high likelihood that they were warped. I'm glad that that is no longer an issue with the Record Pi.

    So many new records are dish warped. Some that I have are so bad, the outer edge of the record is way above the platter. I bought the record pi yesterday. Can’t wait to try it out. Thanks for this video! 😁

    I've had mine for over a year now. I use it a lot and I've turned up the heat to 135 degrees. I also let it run for 4 hours and let cool overnight. This has shown the best results. There has only been a couple albums I could not fix. It's definitely worth every penny I spent.

      @keithnelson9233 Hi Keith. Thank you for the reply. I received a Record Pi for Christmas. The first record I flattened was a brand new dish-warped 2017 reissue of Judas Priest - Defenders of the Faith. I believe it's 140 gram vinyl. I started with the recommended settings. After a couple of tries, I decided to go with 132 degrees for 3 hours. It's flat. Side one is perfect, and both sides sound good. But I noticed on side two that the stylus displays an off-center pressing back and forth motion. I'm not really sure if this is a result of flattening or just another quality control issue from the vinyl pressing plant. 🤔

    • @keithnelson9233

    I love my Record Pi. I use the timer that's part of the Smart Life app. It's a clunky process, but after some tries I've got a step-by-step process that works consistently. Like you said in the video though, if you move your phone away from the controller the wifi won't connect to turn turn it off, so it's best to leave your phone in the same room when you're using the timer.

    Yes it will , Just got a Record Pi myself and works fantastic for me. I was on the fence to purchase for a long time and finally bought one . I’m very impressed and glad I made the investment. Required a little bit of trials to get to my personal preferred optimal settings, but works. I was sick and tired of purchasing newly pressed records and 9 out of 10 are warped. I don’t see an end in site to this issue on new records pressed and took matters in my own hand. Crazy how I have thousands older records and none have any warping issues. Some of those used records I have where even improperly stored for 30 years (not by me)and are fine.

    I agree. I have received albums that were shipped outside the cover. I didn’t know if that was the manufacturers way or who did that. But I always appreciate it. I get it, if I bought a new album and the seam was split, I would send it back. But I’m not an audiophile…or a vinyl snob. You may have noticed in my first post. My records are old. I like to listen to my music. I’m not collecting it to make money.

    I purchased mine about a couple of months ago and I have flattened a few dozens of records. I have increased the temperature to 135F for 3 hours and 99% of the records come out great, no damage whatsoever. However, there has been a couple of records that didn’t change at all after 3 attempts. I even increased the temperature to 140F and still nothing happened. I think it does depend on the records. But for most records, it works.

    Agree on warping .. I’ve also noticed lots of sharp edges maybe 30-50% - never ever used to be a problem in 60s-80s it seems! Doesn’t affect sound usually be very annoying. Also I get about 20% of new records with scuffs and scratches from the factory .. and a good amount of those are somewhat to very audible.

      I think my biggest complaint with new records are the fact that we are paying a premium for a product, and not getting a premium product in return. If I'm paying $30-$35+ for an album, it should come with poly-lined inner sleeves at a minimum. All the scuffing from cheap paper sleeves is infuriating.

    • @jdthompson5778
      @jdthompson5778 11 місяців тому

      @@TheVinylDen Agree! Way too many defects .. you mention the inner sleeves which I agree! It’s also frustrating to pay $30 plus for an album and have the covers so thin & flimsy - easily bent and get creases etc. How many new mailed albums do you get with the record cutting the top of the sleeve in transport! Another major irritation! Such thin cheap covers on so many albums!
