Cats will definitely let you know if they disagree with something. People who lived 3 streets away from me had a fantastic cat named Frank. When Frank was still young the people he lived with would go on a two week holiday. Frank didn't agree with being abandoned with a cat-sitter like that, so he took a massive dump on the doormat and ran off, showed up at my place and forced his way in through an open window. My own cats were very territorial but they somehow completely and utterly accepted this intruder, which is odd, when i woke up the next morning i found them snuggled up on the sofa with this strange cat in between them. Every time i gently chucked him outside he'd force his way in again so I asked around in the neighbourhood if they knew this cat and looked around everywhere if someone was missing a cat, but no luck. He wasnt chipped either, i couldn't figure out where he came from. Some three weeks later i found a note hanging on the door of a local store about a missing cat and when i rang the number it turned out to be Frank, they were so delighted to have their cat back. Every year for the next 14 years whenever they'd go on vacation, the cat would shit on the door mat before leaving to go live with either me or my direct neighbours (the rest of the year i'd not see Frank around at all lol) and every year i'd get a Christmas card from the people saying thank you for looking after Frank. Frank passed away a few years ago but i still get Christmas cards and we have a good laugh about it. He was amazing, it was always a lot of fun to have him around in the summers. I'd just text them to let them know Franky was at mine so their catsitter wouldnt worry and they'd be like 'Oh okay, i guess our doormat will need hosing down again' haha. Cats are the best. :)
Cats will show you what they think of you. A friend was going away on vacation. Her travelling bag was standing on the floor with a pile of clean clothes in it and the lid open. Her cat jumped up on top of it and peed on the clothes, all the while looking her straight in the eyes.
Absolutely brilliant 😂. Had to share this in a cat group. I hope some people will watch it and maybe it's a gateway drug to letters live 😻. Wish I found a link to only Elisabeth Taylor s letter to her missing cat. To post in cat groups
there's also a letters live about the difference of cats and dogs, read by different people. It's funny and fantastic too! ua-cam.com/video/nFKwdxUv7Hc/v-deo.html&ab_channel=LettersLive
I had a mouthful of cereal when he said “attempted to unscrew her eyeball,” emphasis on *had.*. As one with a semi-low opinion of cats in general, this was a dangerously hilarious rendition of feline/human interaction.
Thank you. I was wondering where he got that particular american voice from. Doesn't sound at all like his usual voice I know from various british tv series.
He was LUCKY the cat in question wasn't a SIAMESE. I am one of those "beyond reason cat lovers". I love dogs too. I'd have a zoo if I could- mice gets little graves as do dead birds if I can get enough to bury that is- I got that idea from a dear friend, so I am not the ONLY knot. I really enjoy Bhaskar and Cheever's writing but this anecdote wasn't that great- check out his letter performed with Miriam Margolyes Napoleon writes often! to Josephine. Namaste
My tuxie girl is my smallest cat. She once devoured a small garden bird, right in front of me, on the kitchen table. She left a couple of wing feathers and a foot. Wasn't really worth burying.
The letter is written and delivered in a funny way. Its content is very sad and not funny at all. So many people think cats behave as dogs. And so many believe cats are completeley "independent" and unattached to people. Neither is true. They suffer from stress and loss as much as dogs (or humans), but their body language is different and harder to read by many. They are also extremely routine-dependent. This letter speaks of a very sad and stressed cat and of at least its new owner having no real idea of what cats are really like.
I've had many a cat such as this. One I evicted from my home at 1 AM, and my daughter was aghast at my lack of feeling. I told her not to worry, Beelzebub (not his real name) would return within 24 hours. More's the pity, I was right.
Boo animal abuse! I normally love these letters, but this person said they intentionally kicked their cat. @LettersLive please choose letters that don’t normalise animal abuse.
I agree with you, but this was from a long time ago, and it's important to understand different points of view and different cultures through history, too. Still one should not kick cats, but it could have been a hypérbole as well.

My sympathies lie with Delmore. RIP, you poor misunderstood creature.
Same
So nice to hear these classic British actors in a less formal & more humorous setting.
@@hannahreynolds7611 Try the BBC online, as they have quite a bit of their radio on there. Or here, maybe?
A letter about cats read by Sanjeev Bhaskar, one of my favorite English actors. Heaven. 🐈⬛
Cats are like no other creatures
They will always let you know exactly how they feel.... ignore them at your own risk!!!
That letter was a work of art.
With vigilance, Delmore will soon have John completely trained, but he is well on the way already.
He really has that New England WASP banker persona nailed.
If someone drop-kicked me I wouldn't forgive them either
If someone shit in my Kleenex box, they would never enter my house again.
If I defecated in their Kleenex box I was never interested in having a positive relationship with. Lol
If someone crapped in my tissue box... I wouldn't forgive them. We have an impasse
to that cat I would drop kick him on a daily basis!
You shouldn't poop in people's Kleenex box's then.
John Cheever did speak like this! He has not just the accent, but pretty good on the delivery, too.
Delmore is king 🤴

An even more fun point of view: Letter 'from' a rehomed cat.

I love Sanjeev and wow, that accent! Well done
Fantastic job reading this.
I've had 2 disappointing dogs but I have nothing but respect and love for the several cats I've had & the one I still have in my life.
His American accent is surprisingly good!
"I shall not overlook my own failures in this tale." 😄
Brilliant!
Perfect interpretation! 👏
This is my favorite one yet
Hilarious and love Sanjeev!
Great narration 👏.

They should just try calling him by his given name
Very good thank you 😊
Dude sounds very much like Nicholas Cage.
That's exactly what I was thinking!
Thank you. I was wondering where he got that particular american voice from. Doesn't sound at all like his usual voice I know from various british tv series.
A bit like Joe Biden as well. Is there a cat in the white house?

Cats are very territorial and often are not thrilled at being rehomed.

I like Delmore 😂
I learned never not hide my shoes because if the poet I am does not hide my shoes, my oldest cat who passed last fall peed in one.
I had a bad cat named “Bill.” Once he pooped in my open guitar case.
They got Barry Humphries to read the same letter
It's a remarkably good Nicholas Cage, is the thing!
Cats 🐈⬛ will be cats.
Typical cats, they love to drop butt shuttles and bum dumplings wherever they like. Good one Delmore 😂😂😂

Felt like God Father reading the letter
Humans domesticated dogs.
Cats domesticated humans.
Very good mid-Atlantic accent 😂
He's not a forgiving cat.
They rarely are.
He is imitating Cheever.
And doing it quite well.
He's reading a letter Cheever wrote
What a cat 😂🐈Delmore😂😂
I'm too distracted by the Nick Cage accent.
Funny😂
What accent is this?
The transatlantic accent of John Cheever.
Delmore gotta go.
🤣😂🤣😂
Why exactly is he doing a Nicholas Cage thing?

How about a burlap bag, a brick and a stock tank full of water? Here kitty kitty.
Not even remotely funny!
American accent is OK, except for "contribute."
How is this funny?
What happened to his voice? It sounds as if he's had throat cancer. What a shame.
Acting I think 🙂
He plays a character... Something actors tend to do. 😊
He is British
