Injured Richmond Cat Rescued and Safe!

We are thrilled to update you on Guacamole!
This intrepid cat caused a bit of an internet sensation last week when various folks caught sight of him around Richmond. He was clearly in distress and appeared (on a video one Good Samaritan captured) to have a broken leg.
It turns out Guacamole (as our team has named him) didn’t have a broken leg. It was rather more shocking. Part of a leg was missing - and yet he was still trying to use it as a weight-bearing limb. It was heartbreaking to watch.
Thankfully, our crack team of kitty trappers caught this guy last Friday.
Doctors at the RAPS Animal Hospital suspect that Guacamole lost part of his leg in an altercation with another animal - maybe a coyote. The possibilities are disturbing to consider.
The good news is … he is now safe, cared for and surprisingly friendly, although unsurprisingly still a bit shy.
The doctors have determined that what remains of his leg must be amputated and this surgery will be performed in the coming days.

What awful pain and trauma it must have been in.
I'm so glad that someone had seen it and it was rescued and is in safe hands where it will be cared for.
