did you know you can select a recipe tree. and it will show you all steps for crafting that item?
You can there right click items and use "show crafting method" to instantly filter in your crafting log for that item if it's craftable
And you can do same and use "show gathering method" to filter for this item in gathering log.
But yeah. raw materials list is amazing if you need to craft abunch of the thing... like 30 intelligent dissolvent

The one caveat to the aggro meter as a judge of relative DPS performance is that it ceases to be even a relative reference if anyone dies. As death resets your enmity to zero, unless the fight is particularly long, anyone who dies will end up at the bottom of the list, even if they have the highest DPS post-death, due to having to 'catch back up' on the enmity table.
That said, yes, if the tank dies and the boss turns to face you as a DPS, you can proceed to eat dirt with honor knowing you were probably pulling the biggest numbers before the boss turned you into a pancake :P

I learned so much, thank you! It's really nice seeing a bunch of actual beginner's info, like changing settings or the color of quest markers that no one mentions because "Duh everyone knows that why bother mentioning it"
Like I've been playing FF14 for about a week now, and I clicked on a "Beginner's guide" for gathering, and it was all about how to maximize yield and optimize rotation on collecting high level materials and I'm just sitting there like... bruh... where do I find a rock to mine?

A sidenote about the EXP bar and rested EXP... You actually gain rested EXP the entire time you are in a sanctuary. Idling in a sanctuary will get you rested EXP, as well as logging out. So if you need to be AFK for a bit, idle in a sanctuary. You get a little rested EXP for it.

@22:05 You SHOULD do this with dungeons--or to be precise, SPECIFIC dungeons. The Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak (Level 24), Brayflox Longston (Level 32), and The Stone Vigil (Level 41) are great to unsync for a reason--Gear Sets. If you're leveling alt jobs at low levels, Unsync these with high level jobs solo and collect all the gear using multiple runs. It lets you get every gear drop (and thus not having to roll against others), and you can do it fast! These gear sets are great to use as you level up, keeping you fully geared from start to finish. Use the Brand New Set from 15 to 24, Toto-Rak from 24 to 32, Brayflox from 32 to 41, and the Vigil gear until you get most of your class gear at 45. Once you hit 50, Tomestone gear goes on. You don't have to buy or craft low level gear--just unsync, collect, and use for all low level jobs!

  • @sebastien953
    @sebastien953 Рік тому +10

Not really for beginners, but I find the part about alt job leveling a bit misleading. Having one job at higher level than the others will give you a significant XP boost, yes. But the thing is, once you unlock tribal quests in Shadowbringers and especially Endwalker (so when you have one job at level 90 basically), it is just more efficient to level multiple jobs at different stages in parallel. By the time you manage to get 10 levels with 70- jobs (roulettes, hunts, etc...), you can easily get 2 to 3 with another 70+ jobs by just doing your daily tribal quests. That takes something like 10 minutes a day. If you are aiming for all classes at level 90, it can get it of weeks of grind.

Something that I feel like the game expects you to know but is never taught: Damage and healing over time effects tick every 3 seconds. So if you're trying to figure out the total potency of such an ability, divide the duration by 3, then multiply by the potency.
Damage over time effects aren't as prevalent as they once were, but I still feel this is worth knowing.

for the GC provision missions, the star bonus and the HQ bonuses both give double XP and they can stack to give you 4x the baseline listed XP gain. meaning a 100k XP gain will give you 400k XP if its both starred and you turn in a HQ item. gathering items since they can no longer give HQ items have long since given double XP baseline due to the change and you double that from all starred gathering turn in.

  • @zimeno2069

Love the video man! Thank you for this.
A tip at 18:40 or so. Instead of having to copy and then paste the items, the game has an option in the right click menu just above copy, it says "search for item by gathering method" or "search for item by crafting method" it will send you directly to it. Way faster. Anyways thanks again!
Edit: you can even do this in the crafting menu with the various other materials needed that can also be crafted.
One more tip for this to save time is to right click the items needed for your craft and hit "search for item" the game will pull a screen up showing if you have the item in everything, including retainers. Very convenient if you are a hoarder like me lol.

I use the same keybinds in all MMOs (technically just WoW Classic and FF14): QERFCZ, with Shift, Ctrl, and Alt to access those 6 keys in four modes and either 1234 or four side buttons on my mouse. I'm fairly new (lvl 62 WHM) but it works flawlessly across all the classes I've trained on alts too (incl. CNJ, THM, ARC, ACN, SCH, PUG, and DoH/DoL classes).
E and R are for the most used actions (Cure/Stone2 and Cure2/Regen/Aero2). Q is for second most used (Medica2), F is for special actions (Cure3/Esuna/Repose), C and Z are for rarely used or emergency actions (Rescue and Raise/Benediction).
My current setup for WHM, in order of QERFCZ:
Basic class actions (Medica, Cure, Cure2, Cure3, Rescue, Raise) are the base mode, situational class actions (Medica2, [No E], Regen, Esuna, [No C], Benediction) are under the Shift mode, combat specific actions ([No Q], Stone2, Aero2, Holy, Repose) are under the Ctrl mode, and Alt mode has yet to be used yet but I'm planning on putting my lilies there once I unlock them (I'm still stuck in ARR lmao). My cooldown skills go on my side buttons on my mouse (Lucid Dreaming, Swiftcast, Presence of Mind, Surecast) and I use Ctrl mode + the same buttons for the next four (currently empty), with the last four slots in my 3rd hotbar being unbound click slots for Timers, Sprint, Return, and Teleport respectively.
This setup lets me use any ability I need to with minimum reach and it only takes a little bit of memorization to use without looking. I do occasionally trigger CAPSLOCK but it's never been a problem lol. It's basically nothing to M5 into Z for an insta-Raise or to take a break from spamming Holy on Ctrl + F to reup Medica2 with Shift + Q or Regen with Shift + R. On ARC and THM, I put my DOTs on Ctrl, CC on Shift, and single-target damage on the base mode.
For bonus points I angle my keyboard inwards a few degrees to minimize strain on my wrist (your wrist shouldn't be bent if you'll be using a keyboard for extended periods of time) and use a mousepad with ergonomic support. I can play for 10+ hours (with breaks, of course) with next to no strain on my hands. My mom taught me about this type of thing because she worked as an insurance clerk full time when I was a kid and used an ergonomic keyboard and I think I've offset arthritis/carpal tunnel by years by adopting her tactics for extended computer use.

My advice for Movement: If you like being able turn around and strafe but want to still be able to back up fast:
Change to legacy like the video suggests. Go to Keybinds, remove turn left and right, legacy left and right really aren't designed for keyboard and mouse.
Instead bind A and D to *Turn Camera* Left, and *Turn Camera* Right. Also remember to change your camera turn speed to desired amount. This will make the movement similar to Character based but also have the benefits of legacy like instant turn back.

    • @Spamhard
      @Spamhard 5 місяців тому +1

Omg this works a treat. It was mostly the lack of being able to one-handed turn the camera that was holding me back from legacy switch. Was frustrating that I HAD to use mouse or directionals with legacy just to see where I was going. You've saved the day with a simple solution.

You get all of the loot from coffers, which you can turn in to the Grand Company and get stacks of seals, and it's a fast way of getting dungeons done for your Wonderous Tails (trials are definitely quicker, but they won't give you as much of a reward).

imagine not knowing about fish desynthesis rewards, or at least not acknowledging them. Huge source of gil... Goes like this, farming gigantshark (easy) -> South seas talisman ~100k sell, Summer breeze halter ~100k sell, frilled shark(easy) -> coronal summer thing ~150k, Octomammoth(easy) -> blue summer pareo ~85k sell, twitchbeard(hard) -> red summer pareo ~500k sell, theres also two fish for summer sandals which also gives above 100k sells. It's ridiculous how much money I make from those alone. Not very contested because I imagine people are not that fond of fishing. Additionally I triple hook titanic sawfish and sell those for 100k each easily. There's also some fish that deysnthesis into valuable crafting materials for weavers, like thavnarian silk or waterproof cloth. There's lots of additional things as a fisher that I make tons of gil with but I that's not the point I wanted to make. Cook desynthesis combined with fisher, easy gil. Absolutely worth it.

Gotta correct you, damage is NOT applied the moment you hit the button. Plugins like noclippy wouldn't work if that was the case. Damage is applied the moment the animation hits the target as that's when the packet is sent. It's all about timing. You don't have to wait for the animation to finish, that's true, but it is NOT as soon as you hit the button.

another helpful tip. you can macro camera angle settings.
    /tiltcamera xx
xx is degrees, usually its at 15, i added 45 and 60. 45 for dungeons, camera zoomed half way out. 60 in 8-24man duty big bosses and zoomed all way out. that way you can see WTH is going on instead of camera focus on your own pretty face. 😊
    for crafters.
did you know instead of typing the skills name in a crafting macro you can drag and drop it in the window? much easier then typing it out all the time.

    25:46 Tip 35: Don't Wait On Animations
You actually should take in account your animations for abilities.
While all damage is applied instantly for abilities, animation length is different at times.
Some classes, especially DRG, have long ability animations which mean they can not weave into another ability smoothly without clipping an attack.

    1. Unlock every single crafting class as soon as you unlock supply missions for your grand company, even if you have no plans of doing crafting at that time. That will increase the list of what they want, and you can start the easy leveling of most crafting classes asap. And you'll get much more of those precious seals.

I know this vid is a year or more old, I just need to add a couple of things.
First up, autorun, you don't need to hotkey it, as mentioned in the video it's bound to 'R' by default, it's also bound to mousewheel click by default too and there's probably only about 3 people out there you are using that as a custom keybind.
Armory bonus, by the wording, and how it looks to work in my own experience, you don't need to have capped a job to get the full bonus, it's 100% bonus from 1-(10 levels below cap) for any job currently lower than your highest level job, so you can, for example, run a job to 50, then switch and get the full 100% bonus up to 50 and repeat this for every combat class.
Right next to the option for you own expanded inventory is the option to expand the retainers inventory, also a solid recommend.
You can right click the currency symbol on the currency HUD element to change the currency being displayed and you can customise what currencies will be displayed as well as their order by hitting the cog wheel in the currency window (I don't know when they added this, I found it out like 4 days ago after 1700 hours)
You can quickly dismount by pressing your weapon unsheath button (default 'z' on keyboard)
Hope my corrections weren't too pedantic, especially given the age of the video, and the extra bit's help someone.

    • @Robert_Jacobs
      @Robert_Jacobs 7 місяців тому +2

@@cody3504 That tip is just for DPS trying to figure out whether they are Rear or Flank. Like others have said, as a tank keep the mobs pointed away from the party and STAND STILL. Your melee DPS will hate you if you keep repositioning the boss for no reason. The more you turn/spin the boss, the harder melee DPS have to work to maintain positionals.
Combine that with the tip about the damage going out until the telegraph disappears. As a tank you can use that to avoid the telegraph and run back into position without changing the way the boss is facing. That lets you keep the boss faced in a single direction, you avoid the AoE but get back into position before the animation ends and the boss swivels to face you.

As an addendum to the point about switching from the CTRL and Shift hotbars I highly recommend investing in an MMO mouse. Using your thumb on your right hand is infinitely easier than trying to do finger acrobatics.

A tip for casters and even other combat jobs: place a emote on your HUD somewhere that can be easily seen. When an ability is cast, the emote button will gray out. The moment it lights back up: you can cast your next ability regardless of the screen animation is the majority of cases. This will help with "slide casting" tremendously. I know it help me a ton with Red Mage.

I've played since before a Realm Reborn, but so on and off that I still haven't reached max level yet. Most of the info thrown at you, I've forgotten along the way... and your video has made my life so much more easier, when it was getting a bit overwhelming at times, especially since I only just returned and play alone. Thank you so much! 😊

    A small tip about auto-run.
If you hard lock-on to a teammate while you all are running, youll just follow them.
Unless you guys go through a portal or door or jumppad.
    (Auto-run + hard lock-on)

10 months late to the party, but this can also be accomlpished by targeting someone and using the command /follow. This will make your character run behind the target, and also stop when they stop!

The only suggestion you made I disagree with is about movement and using S key. The S key should always be unbound and used for important abilities like specialized shields/defenses or attacks as an example. Back peddling is the bane of game play. Unbind your current turning keys A/D swap the abilities from Q/E (strafing) and use Q/E for abilities for buffing. It's really easy to tell who is a keyboard turner or mouse turner in a game. Movement can be totally done with the mouse and strafing keys for repositioning. Turn using the mouse holding the right button down. I use a 17 button Naga Trinity. Assigning all attacks and other abilities using cntrl, alt, or even shift so my left hand can remain on my keyboard pushing keys, not numbers. I learned playing this way in SWTOR PvP and it did wonders in PvE. I've not looked back since. That's my experiencing play more games than I care to admit too and my suggestion.

Q, E, R, F are my goto hotkeys. So glad I'm not the only one to use those. Add in Shift and it'll cover most rotations entirely and maybe clicking on cooldown abilities

There are enough buttons to never click anything besides your tank stance, and even that should probably be binded. With 2 min burst meta, where every second counts clicking your burst is just wrong

Lots of these things are quality of life improvements added to the game over time.
I've been playing since 1.0 and I'm happy for new players to see how accessible everything has become.
Just because things were terribly more cumbersome back then doesn't mean they were "better".

let me stop you right there on the yellow/bue/main story quests bit, there are some yellow quests that you have to do for some of the gear youll need to get through the game and on a small rare occasion will give you a special/unique item. also yellow quests help build the worlds lore and some will even affect stuff in the main story quest.
