Drove one of these 2023 models as a courtesy car a few months back. Honestly I thought compared to my IS3OOh, it felt considerably slower (especially the in-gear acceleration) and handled like a blancmange, but it wasn't the FSport, so there is that... Bugger all driving dynamics compared to the IS. Also, I think it's very poor that they haven't given this car more power now. This should at least have the 350h powertrain from the new NX now and/or a plug-in variant. It's shameful Lexus haven't updated this powertrain yet, they're cheaping out big time!

Exactly, this is a pure luxury sedan that get you from point a to b, with 45MPG. Which v6 or v8 can do that? If I want a off the line rocket, I could just buy a Tesla M3P.
Greetings I am a mechanical engineering project manager and let me tell you I would take personally to hit on the MPG and get the ES 350 F sport The V6 is time tested and true: the Hybrid will get you good LS gas but the engines are problematic and with 215 HP you are. It getting any power. The ES 300 H will go 0.60 in 8.1 seconds the E 350 base will do 6.5 second. F sport makes handling smoother and give it the sporty feel. No one will mistake this for a Maserati or a Porsche but you get to put 87 octane regular gas and get good mpg
What are your thoughts on the ASIN 8 Speed automatic in terms of reliability. I have the 2023 es350 UL, and I love the car but now see many reviewers saying the 300H is better, I feel some buyers remorse.
@@Tommy-Eagle-USA The reason why you feel some buyer remorse with the 300 EH is because it is slow and sluggish you’re only getting 212 hp so it goes 0 to 60 eight seconds the ES 350 goes 0 to 60 and 6.5 seconds actually doing some research I realized that the escort is not even worth it because you’re not adding any more horsepower it’s just giving it a more sportier feel but you’re also paying $10,000 so I say get the base engine ES 350. If you want a inget fancy get the luxury es350 same Price as the f sport $45,000 but you get kicked. You can get the extra luxury but you’re also paying for it and the price of that is 57,000 at that point you might as well get a Mercedes I wouldn’t go with the hybrid yet project engineering manager they haven’t perfected the strength of the engine yet it gets great gas mileage but the thing is sluggish but the gas powered ES 350 will always be a winner. By the way I have friends who are NASCAR Formula One race drivers for a professional living they said that most of their cars they have Toyota Camry body frames which is the same as the Lexus
@@JohnnyUtah9173 this comment is completely false, the f sport does not offer smoother handling. It actually provides you a much stiffer suspension hence the " f sport " You're essentially getting a Toyota Avalon with a crappier suspension. The f sport defeats the entire purpose of getting Lexus in the first place.
It is fine for a normal everyday car. It is not a light weight four wheel drive sports car. Luxury sports sedans years ago would have had that performance before the whole 0-60 spec obsession.
@Sofyan, this car definitely does not do 0-60 in 7.3 sec, the best I could get was 7.9 to 8 sec, right in line with what Lexus has on its website. Were you going slightly downhill in your testing?
Did you brake torque? Did you put in it sport mode? Did you turn off all the nannies? Did you do it 3 times in a row & then accept the lowest as the correct one?
@@tails300 The Camrys hybrids are quick. I have one also (top trim). I can image the LEs can do it in just a tad under 7. And they feel more powerful than the numbers suggest. On every FWD vehicle he criticizes the floor hump in the rear and states he doesn’t know why it’s there. That’s the channel where the exhaust pipe runs.
FYI: Lexus won’t give you a pano on an ES “F Sport” whether it’s a Hybrid or not. I’m guessing for body rigidity issues… but I think they should offer it.
But you CAN get the pano roof on the Luxury and Ultra Luxury, which have nicer interiors and a better ride anyway. Reviewers like Savagegeese have said outright that the F Sport suspension makes no sense on this car because it spoils the creamy ride quality without the handling gains to justify it.
Yep, have had Germans when I was younger. Now reliability is my first priority, 3 Lexuses in our household and just bought another one last month $51K in cash. We can afford a $100k Germans in cash if we choose to.
Between the two arteon by far. Because it’s faster more German more premium feeling more substantial and it drives better and it looks like a much more expensive car. The es just looks like a Toyota with lipstick on it
@@naveenthemachine Arteon is nice executive luxury car but it simply is not as luxurious as a Lexus. You can tell the moment you sit in the cabin hence why the Lexus globally costs more.
F Sport is a package on these so that is valid. The ISes come with RWD as the "base" but the ES350 has always been similar to an Avalon or Camry with the FWD. The V6 is pretty fun compared to a CVT, but not everyone cares about driving feel.... I don't associate with those people. Lol
@@naveenthemachine Naveen, you've already exposed yourself in dozens of previous posts as an embarrassed Camry owner living in your mom's basement. Besides, 360 camera, AWD and pano roof are in fact available on different ES trims.

We are not only looking for aesthetics, but we are also looking for PERFORMANCE (400HP minimum) those Mpg talks/comps are still boring unless you’re 45+
It helps it drive better, doesn’t do anything else. Why is it dumb to have a better riding vehicle. And even though it’s not fast many people have gotten this to 60 under 7 seconds. It’s a luxury hybrid, it’s not meant to go fast.
@@naveenthemachine Yes, Naveen, we know from your countless previous Genesis fanboi posts. For the record, there is no G80 version that has even 400 HP, let alone 500. And everybody, including Genesis, is turning to SUVs because that's what buyers are buying.
No. There is no reason for greater than 100 mph in most sedans. It is not a hard core sports car. The real factor is the quality of the drive from 0-80 which is the range most normal people drive within.
What this video told me is that Lexus is sticking with it's "winning" formula. Boring, staid, reliable and fuel efficiency. I have test driven both Accord and this ES hybrid. Lexus is definitely quieter and softer riding. Is it worth $10k+ more? Depends on the buyer and how much they have in cash.
@@alengreen589 I completely understand your point. The Accord is a great car and value. My point is for some people $10K+ is not a lot of difference. Not bragging here, I just bought a 2024 Lexus NX350H for my wife, $51K OTD in cash. We did not even consider a RAV4 hybrid or Venza or CRV hybrid. it has more than enough. 0-60 in 7.3 seconds is faster than some ferraris from decades ago
One thing I realised in cars
You can have 3 out of the 4 in a car
Reliability
Technology
Comfort

Pick 3.
My Camry XSE v6 gives me all 4 LOL
@@naveenthemachine the tech is mid so no you only have 3
@@sebastiendenis9407 only wireless CarPlay is missing. I wouldn’t count that as not having tech. That one feature can be fixed aftermarket
My Camry hybrid XLE gives me all of the mentioned.
Extra points for the Python reference. :.) You'll get your powertrain wish in '25.
Naveen Alert!!! 😂😂
Honestly can't wait to see where they go with the ES. It's super comfortable as it is and I love the design. And no I'm not hoping for a v6 or v8, get real people. This is where the industry is headed.
Great review again!! 👏
You can hope for a PHEV and performance turbo hybrid
Exactly, this is a pure luxury sedan that get you from point a to b, with 45MPG. Which v6 or v8 can do that? If I want a off the line rocket, I could just buy a Tesla M3P.
@@chezzyperson3339 doubt that will happen
Because the hybrid max isn’t very quick. And the PHEV is not quick in more expensive models
@@Tommy-Eagle-USA
The reason why you feel some buyer remorse with the 300 EH is because it is slow and sluggish you’re only getting 212 hp so it goes 0 to 60 eight seconds the ES 350 goes 0 to 60 and 6.5 seconds actually doing some research I realized that the escort is not even worth it because you’re not adding any more horsepower it’s just giving it a more sportier feel but you’re also paying $10,000 so I say get the base engine ES 350. If you want a inget fancy get the luxury es350 same
Price as the f sport $45,000 but you get kicked.
Smoother handling? What does that mean?
@@JohnnyUtah9173 this comment is completely false, the f sport does not offer smoother handling. It actually provides you a much stiffer suspension hence the " f sport " You're essentially getting a Toyota Avalon with a crappier suspension. The f sport defeats the entire purpose of getting Lexus in the first place.
0-60 over 8 seconds is outrageous.
He just tested 7.3 on flat ground and 7.9 seconds uphill 🤷♂
It is fine for a normal everyday car. It is not a light weight four wheel drive sports car. Luxury sports sedans years ago would have had that performance before the whole 0-60 spec obsession.
@ i agree 💯
12:10 this car does have ambient lightning inside the footwells that is a soft white LED ambient lighting.
Wow 50 grand in a world of high inflation seems like a terrible deal
@Sofyan, this car definitely does not do 0-60 in 7.3 sec, the best I could get was 7.9 to 8 sec, right in line with what Lexus has on its website. Were you going slightly downhill in your testing?
Did you brake torque? Did you put in it sport mode? Did you turn off all the nannies? Did you do it 3 times in a row & then accept the lowest as the correct one?
My Camry hybrid does it 7 flat (I’ve also gotten 6.9 once). This only weighs 200 pounds more so it shouldn’t be much slower 🤷🏽♂️.
@@tails300 The Camrys hybrids are quick. I have one also (top trim). I can image the LEs can do it in just a tad under 7. And they feel more powerful than the numbers suggest. A UA-cam commenter once put it this way: The hybrid Camry's torque feels like getting hit by a train from behind. At the same time I've noticed that the Camry hybrid is so surrounded by trash talk, it's unreal 🤷♂
I see the remote start still has that same “feature” where the car turns off when the door is opened… it’s 2025 now why can’t Toyota/Lexus do it like Honda/Acura and almost everyone else lol
How does the handling and performance of this compare to the NX350h? Seems like 0-60 is similar but I wish Lexus offered an F package for the 350h
The naturally aspirated V6 is the best on the ES if you value reliability and a smooth ride with power.
Doesn’t that also describe the Camry? Because it also offers a smooth ride and v6 power since it also has a v6
@@naveenthemachine yes but the Lexus is quieter with more insulation and better interior and bigger too. The es interior is based on the Avalon frame / platform

Its a luxurious car for old people because its slow and the design isn't aggressive. Otherwise very nice luxurious and reliable sedan.
It's a reliable and somewhat luxurious car for *all* age brackets. It's not slow and the design is matter of taste.
Young people cannot afford such cars. It’s for people that work and have money and probably a family.
Lexus es is my dream car
Great Video!!!!👍👍👍👍
On every FWD vehicle he criticizes the floor hump in the rear and states he doesn’t know why it’s there. That’s the channel where the exhaust pipe runs.
Not buying the whole exhaust containment thing.
Does Lexus even make a es 300h with sport design and no handling?? The site says yes but a dealership said no. 😮
is there any rent car for this car?
38mpg is because of the cold weather, you’ll get 48 when it’s warmer outside. Trust me.
I love lexus but the only competition it wins with german cars is reliability. If lexus added AWD with ambient lighting would do great sales
Yep, have had Germans when I was younger. Now reliability is my first priority, 3 Lexuses in our household and just bought another one last month $51K in cash. We can afford a $100k Germans in cash if we choose to.
What you can recommend this ES or VW Arteon in top trim?
Between the two arteon by far. Because it’s faster more German more premium feeling more substantial and it drives better and it looks like a much more expensive car.
The es just looks like a Toyota with lipstick on it
@@naveenthemachineFunny you wrote that because I consider the Arteon a Passat in a dress! 😂
@@PS-qb8rm well the arteon is not trying to be a fancy Passat. You can tell its more Audi esque in design and the drivetrains aren’t the same.

Arteon is nice executive luxury car but it simply is not as luxurious as a Lexus. You can tell the moment you sit in the cabin hence why the Lexus globally costs more.
@ an arteon has better tech than Lexus more style and far better performance for significantly less

It has some Camry parts and bits inside it but much nicer than a Camry to me
99% of the bits are from the Camry. 1% from the styling maybe is Lexus
I'd rather the es 350 fully f-sported out. Better exhaust note.
ES350 sported out? lmfao It's a damn Camry with a nicer interior.
@@biglee13m yes, but it's a sporty luxury car. With a v6
F Sport is a package on these so that is valid. The ISes come with RWD as the "base" but the ES350 has always been similar to an Avalon or Camry with the FWD. The V6 is pretty fun compared to a CVT, but not everyone cares about driving feel....

I like a lot about this channel but I will never understand your fixation with Door and horn sounds I personally don’t think that gives any impression of quality either way.
Door sound definitely attached to quality
Not sure why they bother with F-Sport on this car. It's FWD and NO ONE is buying this car to actually drive it. This is the ultimate commuter car, the best Buick GM never built. The E250 version is a cruel joke.
We are not only looking for aesthetics, but we are also looking for PERFORMANCE (400HP minimum)
those Mpg talks/comps are still boring unless you’re 45+
who needs 400+ horses for a daily commute? this ES isn't supposed to be a performance car. . .
A sport package on a fwd almost 8 second car with a cvt is really..... Dumb
It helps it drive better, doesn’t do anything else. Why is it dumb to have a better riding vehicle. And even though it’s not fast many people have gotten this to 60 under 7 seconds. It’s a luxury hybrid, it’s not meant to go fast.
it’s about 4 (four) years if you do the math….

The car is beautiful but definitely need more power and 112mph top speed would annoy me.
No. There is no reason for greater than 100 mph in most sedans. It is not a hard core sports car. The real factor is the quality of the drive from 0-80 which is the range most normal people drive within.
@Art-is-craft , I'm calmer in my 50s but there are stretches in the south when I open my car up.

What this video told me is that Lexus is sticking with it's "winning" formula. Boring, staid, reliable and fuel efficiency. The ES, like many of their models in their line-up, has never been an exciting or fun car to drive. This car screams " senior citizen on the way back to the subdivision after grocery shopping". They don't even attempt to make this fun. But this has worked for them for decades so why change now.
