You are so clever, Carol. I love seeing you work things out! Thank's again for such a great and enjoyable reaction. I was fortunate enough to go to the UK premiere of this movie and it rocked my world! :)
thank you so much, Mike! It was probably such a great experience to watch this at that time! I love how relevant this movie is TODAY! I love to share my first time reaction to classic movies like this one. I always get so many interesting comment and fun facts from back in the day.
What’s so funny is that Kurtwood Smith (Clarence) is so famous for his villains, but everyone who has ever worked with him says he’s the nicest man alive.
That’s so ironic! He plays villains so convincingly, it’s hard to imagine him as the nicest guy, but that just goes to show how talented he is. Thanks for sharing that-it makes me appreciate his performance even more! 😊
That's usually the way - no shortage of leading men/ladies who are self-possessed primadonnas, and tons of villains/character actors who are the nicest people. Also, Ronnie Cox who plays Dick Jones and has a history of playing corporate assholes is a very nice southern gentleman in real life and loves to play Bluegrass Banjo. Oh, and the guy who plays the red-haired gang member who is mutated at the end is a very nice guy in real life, watched a few interviews with him - very serious about acting.
Rather than shouting something like “You can’t do it!” or a defiant “F You RoboCop!”, something about Clarence instead saying “Come on man! Now don’t get cute!” cracks me up more than maybe it was meant to.
Grreat reaction, and good catch, Carol. When Robocop stops Emil at the gas station, I've seen a lot of other reactions to Robocop where the reactor says, "How did he recognize him from just the jawline?" As you pointed out, it's _not_ just the jawline; it's because (before he became Robocop) he said the *exact same thing* to Emil, and _that_ is when he recognized who Robocop used to be.
6:08 “Now, where’s that backup?” “Backup is still unavailable.” Maybe call the National Guard, then. 🤷♂ Maybe the two of you ought to just hold up until backup _becomes_ available. 🤷♂ The people you’re after don’t know you’re here. They’re not exactly standing sentry. Move to a safe distance and watch this building’s exits. You can afford to do that.
Hard to believe this movie is nigh on 40yo. Back in the day 'Dead or alive....' and 'I'd buy that....' were 2 phrases that we all used at every opportunity. Glad that you picked up on the tongue in cheek vibe to a quite graphic movie. I really enjoyed your reaction, good job. Keep it up. ; )

I absolutely LOVED this movie as a kid. I just didn't realize how absolutely disturbing of a movie this was for a kid to be watching! "I'll buy that for a dollar!" If you thought Red was pissed off in That 70's Show...
Right? RoboCop is one of those movies that totally went over my head as a kid, but watching it now, it’s pretty intense! 😂 And that 'I’ll buy that for a dollar!' line is so good-so creepy but hilarious at the same time
it was such an intense experience! Oh, that makes sense about Murphy’s armour keeping him alive, even after everything he went through. Thanks for pointing that out! 😊
20:02 “What’s the charge?” “He’s a cop killer.” I find myself wondering if Murphy just might be grinding an axe with that particular answer. I mean, to be fair, this guy’s broken a number of other laws too. With his connections in organized crime, he has extensive involvement in the smuggling of drugs and weapons, but Murphy didn't say "He's a drug smuggler," "He's a weapon smuggler," or "He runs a criminal enterprise," even though those are all crimes as well that probably come with charges. No. He says, "He's a cop killer," because apparently, killing cops is the big one. With that, Murphy turned the whole _precinct_ against him.
Hi Carol. Cool, it's great you've seen this sci-fi classic, it's one of my favourites and I'm going to love your reaction to it :) Peter Weller had to learn tai chi, or something like that, to master moving about in the robotic Robocop suit. Dallas doubled up for Detroit due to it's futuristic skyline. Please react to it's entertaining sequel Robocop 2 (1990) soon, it's well worth checking out for the channel :)
Hi James, thank you! That’s amazing about Peter Weller learning tai chi-it really shows in his movements! I didn’t know Dallas stood in for Detroit, but it makes sense. I’ll definitely check out RoboCop 2 soon-thanks for the recommendation! 😊
@carolreacts You're welcome, lovely lady. Yeah it really is, that's some dedicated acting. Yes, the futuristic look really paid off for the dystopian Detroit. Excellent, I'll look forward to watching that :) You're welcome, no problem. I love your reactions and I'm happily subscribed :) Keep up the fantastic work you do, lots of love from the UK.
Aww, thank you so much for your kind words and support! It really means a lot to me, and I’m so glad you’re enjoying the reactions. I’ll do my best to keep the content coming! Sending lots of love back to you in the UK! 😊

I’ve been a big fan of your reactions and have followed you for quite a while now. I have both the special blu ray editions of Robocop 1 and 2. Part 3 is garbage. Robocop 1 is the best. I believe part 2 gets a bad rap. Not as good as 1 but an enjoyable movie in its own right. Will you be doing a reaction to part 2? Would love to see it. Keep up the great work!
Robocop is basically inspired by the british comic book judge Dredd. There is 2 dredd movies one with Sylvester Stallone and one where Dredd is played by Karl Urban. I like stallone but Karl Urban Dredd is superior
I would love to do a Robocop cosplay, down to the opening thigh compartments and sliding gun holsters, but that would be time consuming and expensive to replicate. (Due to the fact that the gun holster never actually functioned the way we see in the movie behind the scenes. To achieve the effect, a full-size prop replica of Robocop's leg was made that a puppeteer could pull a lever and make the holster open on its thigh. But the suit Peter Weller is wearing doesn't actually have it. Movie magic, awesome but disappointing at the same time.) Maybe the gun holster is wishful thinking, but the outfit would be awesome.
Wow, that would be such an incredible cosplay! Even without the functioning gun holster, the outfit alone would be amazing. I had no idea about the behind-the-scenes trickery with the leg compartments-it’s so cool how movie magic can bring these effects to life, even if it’s a bit disappointing to know they didn’t actually work like that in real life 😊

I love how Murphy regains his humanity at the end of the movie. His TJ Lazer move is pretty badass. ✌

Great and brutal movie by my fellow countryman Paul Verhoeven.
For another brutal sci-fi by him watch 'Starship troopers'.
Great reaction, as usual, that's why I'm addicted to your channel. I'll wait for your next reactions. Have a nice day.

True! I love that choice!
Such a classic! 🤩
True! and its theme feels timeless and resonates just as much now as it did back then
This is the REAL LIFE 80s, but with a Robot/Cyborg
If you enjoyed this you should definitely watch Paul Verhoeven's other satirical classics, Starship Troopers and Total Recall.
Thank you for the recommendation! I’m adding them to my list right now 😊

that's a crazy line!!
