I just discovered your channel 3 days ago and I see a difference in my husband after using all your strategies already. Now he feels guilty and he's been crying alot and begging for forgiveness. He actually seems like he cares again and is connecting with me and our kids. Being angry with him was pushing him to use even more And now I have the tools that I need to really help him Thanks to you. You really are making a difference and saving lives! Thank you❤

Fantastic pearls of wisdom! Families are, generally, completely ignorant of how to navigate this disease.

Thanks, Amber. I constantly need to remind myself to shut up. It's difficult, because if the poop hits the fan and he looses his job... I'm gonna be in DEEP trouble!

What if your loved one is homeless, and someone is the enabler, i try to be positive and tell him i believe in him and he has to want it. Then when he's on the drug and coming off the drug and want you to help them, which i have stopped giving him money a year ago. Do i need to open my door and talk to him even though he is blaming me and every one else. How can i get him to realize its him and want him to go into a program. program

What if letting the ball drop hurts your children? I don’t think they should have to pay so I end up doing everything, his part and mine…

Sucks, if he misses one more day of work he’s out of a job . So if I let that drop my family is gonna be in a bad place.

Everything you said hit so close to home! Thank you so much for guiding all of us through this horrible disease. Alcohol can tear apart even the most beautiful relationships.

No bender November. Moving from daily drinking to the other extreme, 1,200 calories a day and 30 miles a day (2hrs) on the bicycle. I do this every year it's pretty much I'm all in or not at all when it comes to the fitness, and the not at all is the daily drinking. Got 2 months of this and the cycle continues lol. I love my drink but my body image issues take priority so now it's time to drop all the weight i gained this year from drinking

You could be a tiny woman, but 1200 calories seem too little for an adult.

@@Skoopyghost I mean when I do that, I drop about 4-6lbs a week when combining it with the 30 mile ride for the first 2-3 weeks, then after that it stagnantes to 2-4 lbs a week. Over the long term it's def not great, but 6-8 weeks? no permanent damage. Can go from 200 to 170 in about 1.5-2 months; then after that can raise calories and keep the cardio to maintain
I donate blood plasma. It gets to the point where I red flag the system and the nurse has to ask me if the weight loss is intentional or if I have aids or something lol. and i'm like "Yeah it's intentional i'm trying to lose weight"

I have a really urgent question I hope you can please get back to me on asap...I don't live with my alcoholic bf but he has been on a binge since 10/21 he relapsed...all he can talk about is killing himself and how he wants to die. And a bunch of other horribly mean and cruel stuff towards me. Is it wrong to call 911 or have a wellness check done on him???? Please help someone.

What about pointing out or asking them about damage to car, house, themselves (cutting) voice mails of them threatening, ranting and yelling? Save that for some type of Intervention? Thanks Amber💔

Hi Amber , Thanks for replying last week 😊. Allowing the natural consequences to happen ho ho 😊, I once said to a work colleague that my partner needed strapping to the sofa and fitting with a ball and chain,, because if she left the house ( Town house surrounded by bars ) things that she couldn’t remember happened. If I found her in town I needed a taser ( illegal in the UK , Police only ) and taxi to get her home safe . Obviously non of this is allowed . The consequences oooh 😮, next day , it was like interviewing a sulky 6 year old , (she was 36) , I’d get just a shrug 🤷. I became an expert with Butterfly plasters , hidden skill, one for the CV😊.

My husband has a drink and drug addiction he was in recovery and he's relapsed but in the uk there's not much free help and he thinks he can do it himself which he can't.im done he has these rants when he's using having a go at me .I've realised now after 4 years that I cannot fix him and its him that has the problem not me but I'm stuck so all u can do is emotionally detach.

I had a benzo and alcohol problem for 10 years. It takes the memory problem to a new level. I heard some of the things I don't remember. I am glad that I don't remember them.

Hey Amber! Can you or have you done a video on the black out affect of alcohol. I have family members who say that is just not true and there is no way you could make dumb decisions while drunk and not remember the next day hardly anything stupid you did. I know it is not an excuse for the poor behaviors, but it is real and when you drink to an excess the blackout happens. Thankful for your channel and all of the help you have given me.

My AH friends tell me I don’t have the right to be upset and I shouldn’t be trying to “change” my husband at all; because that’s how I met him and it’s just “who he is”. I have a hard time accepting that this is who he is, I see it as something he struggles with that has only done him harm. How should I respond to them? Are they right?

What is the video from last week? We are 10 years into this and love and empathy have not worked.
