The fact that both All Might and All For One are crippled versions of their old selves here and aren't even close to their full power and they *still* manage to do this much damage is insane. They are both the most powerful hero and villain by far, and it just paints a picture of how devastating their fight in their primes was. They're destroying buildings like they're made of paper.
There has to be a COUNTRY worth of space wiped off the map completely mangled into nothing that is the site of their 1st battle. All-Might and AFO were once capable of moving Mach 1800 and comprehending everything in an all out brawl at that pace. How that stayed out of public eye is BEYOND my comprehension because the whole WORLD must’ve felt earthquakes, high winds, and NASTY waves.
@@Kaempfdogit makes sense that nobody knows tho because all for one is completely unknown so where ever they fought it was somewhere inconspicuous because all for one was definitely hiding purposely. He is a myth in the villain world and very few people have seen him
Really brings into question how he managed to keep the first fight under wraps.
Well the battle between Nana and AFO destroyed an island so I can only imagine how bad the fight between Toshinori and AFO was.

My favorite little detail is when Iida stops Midoriya, he also grabs Todoroki, bc he knows that if Midoriya goes, Todoroki is sure to follow
I think my interpretation of that is that all 3 of them were thinking about acting, not just Midoriya. That's why he stops Todoroki too and Momo stops Kirishima. We don't hear their thoughts, just Midoriya's, but we can tell through the scenes that all 3 of them individually came to the conclusion that they had to act fast, all on their own. He grabs Todoroki because Todoroki has that look on his face too that he could go act on his own at any second.
I think in this case it is like Johndinner said, all three could see that their window was closing and they HAD to do sth, they just had no plan.
Todoroki feels guilty and responsible about bkg. It's like Deku was saying but maybe even worse: bkg was right in front of him and he was uninjured. Yet he still couldn't get to him in time.
Iida and Yaoyorozu literally said "let us be you guys' self-preservation because we know you got none".
For me, this was the first real moment of starting to like Bakugo. You get a glimpse into his psyche, you see that he _knows_ he is hinering allmights chances right now - and he trusts Kirishima. Kirishima, who managed to get on his level somehow and break through do him in a "Bro!" way, that no one else could
This is the episode where we get a glimpse of the hero that MOUNT LADY can become. Risking her "moneymaker" by taking one to the face, and saying "Prioritize the rescue" as she falls, significantly different from Episode 1 Mount Lady.
And in Season 5(spoilers obv)
We get to see a bit more of that.
I love Mt. Lady, she’s a typical young adult. Adjusting to her life as a hero. She still also has hints of immaturity from her teenage years which I like.
Bakugos yell in this episode when he escapes the villains is so elite one of my favourite pieces of anime voice acting

It floors me that the same guy who did Connie's squeaky screamy voice in AOT has that sort of range to go this raw and low as he does for Bakugo. It took me a hot second to even realize who it was voicing him until episode 2.
I always feel really bad for Kamui Woods during that intro part. He really gives off the feeling that he thinks he screwed up somehow on, as far as I know, his first real big mission when he yells how sorry he is.

Its so funny when montana guesses something and kenny doesnt want to give it away, but him saying "i plead the 5th" or "i will neither confirm nor deny" is basically a confirmation.
That but also sometimes its just not necessary. By that point of the show you have the information. You've heard Shiggys real name so theres no spoiler in saying "yeah the previous ofa holder has the same name as shiggy"
The planning and execution of Bakugo's rescue has gotta be one of my favorite moments of the series.
For me it's second only to Deku's "rescue" in S6.
Honestly, Bakugo's rescue gives me the chills. Every. Single. Time.
Bakugou's scream when he jumps to grab Kirishima's hand literally got me emotional, even though I've seen it so many times lol
12:55 AFO saying "because I am here" in the dub version of the fight is all the reason I need for it to be my go to. Its so damn obvious and sassy I love it.

Honestly, as much as we hate him, that moment from Endeavor was actually kinda cute. He's complaining about the amount of pressure he has in his task, but then when his rival is all "Hey, Endeavor, you need a hand?" he immediately switches to "Do I look like I'm struggling, Baka?"

It's not even pressure. He legit has a limit to how much he can use his power. I don't know why it was taken by her as him being self centered. He's just letting the officer know "hey man if this keeps going I can't keep helping out". They literally had a whole arc talking about the limits of quirks and the fact that they're physical abilities. There is only so much heat endeavour can take.
Although the Shie Hassaikai arc and season 6 have some incredible episodes, this episode and the next are probably the best in the entire show so far in my mind! These two completely change the direction of the show I think.

I love the detail that when Iida holds Midoriya back, he has the instinct to grab Todoroki as well. He knows at this point that if Midoriya says jump, Todoroki's gonna ask how high?
In Endeavor's defense, there's probably an upper limit to how much he can use his power in a short time. Remember in the sports festival how they made a point about how Todoroki was overusing his ice in his fight with Deku?
“Have you come to kill me a second time” is such a badass line lmao
Rewatching this is SO much easier to see Bakugos walls coming down with Kirishima. During the USJ Bakugo is just as cold but loosens up a tiny bit when fighting along side Kirishima while Kirishima is just in awe of Bakugos strength and intelligence. The way he knows just what to say to join Bakugos Calvary team knowing Bakugo would definitely be a winning team. Even their fight Kirishima is clearly trying so hard to prove himself and earn Bakugos respect. And despite demolishing him he still acknowledges Kirishimas strength. Best broship in anime.

Man, the scene of Bakugo's explosion into salvation is just so beautiful, it gave me chills
Particularly love how after the explosion, he remained flying towards his friends while his body remained vertical, as opposed to the typical horizontal "flying" stance he usually assumes when propelled by his explosions
I think the reason for that is that his explosion this time wasn't calculated and precise like he usually does, he released the biggest explosion possible to send himself flying as fast as he could

Montana figuring out the main theme and the fall of the mha world once Toshinori(All Might) falls is amazing

I was seriously blindsided by how much I ended up loving Kirishima by the time I caught up, I thought his character was just gonna be a comedic accessory to Bakugo’s arc at first but he ended up really capturing my heart. It’s damn near impossible to rank characters in this show but he’s definitely up there for me!

Bakugo, my beloved... Love how happy he was to see his friends show up. They're all very different, but they've all got that heroic spirit. That's probably my favorite aspect of the show, the way that all the different students express their strong will and stand up for what they believe in. I'm not a huge fan of the next couple of arcs, but there are character moments that really stand out from the typical shonen tropes.

All For One vs All-Might. Need I say more on the importance of this fight? They went all the way on this fight. And the details are as staggering as you can imagine. I had to get my All-Might teaching complaints in early because I knew I was going to be gushing NONSTOP about how he’s a hero in this battle.
People think it’s stupid that All-Might kept Bakugo in the bar as he TRIED interrogating Shigaraki, but quite frankly it was a smart move. They didn’t know about AFO’s vomit warp (it’s not called that, but it’s hard NOT to describe it that way seeing where it comes from and how people react to it when they are done warping) and if AFO was possibly about to make an appearance, the only one that could stop AFO from immediately getting Bakugo is All-Might. But the warp kinda negated that. (Who knew when you have UNLIMITED UNKNOWN QUIRKS you can’t predict every move he could make?) And Tsukauchi’s claim All-Might has always saved everyone at the scenes he appears at with a literal perfect record breaks as Bakugo is taken away along with the league to the Nomu Factory.
Shoutout to Endeavor for not leaving the scene to go after the bigger fish. It’s true he wants to surpass All-Might, but he doesn’t want it underhanded. All-Might is #1 in the world and has to go for the strongest and biggest problems simply because no one else can defend against them. And Endeavor is not unaware he can’t keep up entirely with the man himself as close as he’s gotten.
We also find at the very least one of the EXTREMELY few quirk limitations of AFO. He refuses Best Jeanist’s quirk because it’s simply too complex to bother to learn using. AFO’s quirks are IMMENSELY overpowered and he can COMBINE them. But he has to learn how to use them. He might be 200 years old but he can’t spend unlimited time learning every power he gets. And he just HALLOWS out Best Jeanist. What a way to say I don’t need your power. Best Jeanist IS ALIVE AFTER THAT. I’m pretty sure he reflexively using his clothing fiber to keep as much body matter as he can. You know. After AFO pressed DELETE on the vast majority of it. Down goes the #4.
It’s also VERY confusing to see a man whose power embodies selfishness and stands as the dark god counterpart to All-Might’s light god superpower says he does everything for Shigaraki. We all know it HAS to be manipulation of SOME kind but Shigaraki DOES view him as his father and bringing Bakugo and the league ONLY matters to Shigaraki. All AFO wanted was Search from Ragdoll from the camp attack. He doesn’t care in the SLIGHTEST Bakugo has a literal EXPLOSION power and just ignores him because there is LITERALLY NOTHING anyone can do to him. And he even makes a callout. Another destined encounter that is just SO FAR out of the IMAGINATION of Deku and Shigaraki.
While it’s true Deku CAN get to Bakugo in less than a second at 5% going 92 mph, at MACH 30, THAT IS MEANINGLESS speed and every MICROSECOND counts. And Iida is HORRIFIED and tries keeping Todoroki and Deku out of the encounter. The class reps are holding them all still from even CONSIDERING an encounter. And that’s IMMEDIATELY JUSTIFIED as AFO catches ALL-MIGHT from a city leap WITHOUT MOVING AND MEASURING HIS EXACT TIMING WAS ABSURDLY SLOW TO HIM. AFO is one of like 5 characters that knows All-Might is NOWHERE NEAR his maximum power and likely has measured the EXACT amount his sustainable power has dropped from that SINGLE MOVE. Mach 30 is IMMENSE and can only be compared to a ROCKET LAUNCH INTO ORBIT for us. (And faster than MOST rockets because the range is Mach 25-30 and All-Might doesn’t BUILD to that speed, his switch from 0 to max speed is IMMEDIATE.) But compared to Mach 1800? As the ONLY true witness to that maximum everything is in slow motion to BOTH of them. If AFO so much as SHAKES as he catches All-Might, All-Might likewise knows that the match is although NOT in his favor, IS possible. And he calls out the life support mask. Their wounds are MIRACLES both survived.
The gods are clashing IN THE CITY, but they could wipe out a CONTINENT at what they USED to be able to do. How their original fight was kept under wraps is incomprehensible to me. Based on JUST the collateral so far, there must be an entire countryside in devastation from them being evenly matched 6 years ago. Remember, these two are so IMPOSSIBLY strong that no one even understands they are actually fractions of their primes. All we know is OFA is the underdog to AFO. OFA stockpiles better and has caught up over the years, and AFO has substantially more versatility than the REST OF THE CAST. (Who knew the quirk STOCKPILE is the best stockpiler.)
Bakugo and AFO both use “I am here” as this all goes on. AFO to muddy the waters of comfort from that phrase and Bakugo literally getting mad he thought it in that phrasing. (Yes I know why he was really upset and concerned, but if you listen to it you can totally argue he doesn’t want to use All-Might’s catchphrase until he’s ready or not at all.)
Then there’s the kids. Thankfully they don’t think their best solution is to join in the fight and split up the villains. The villains were often beating the kids at the camp 1 vs many. So even numbers DO NOT save you. But the kids DO understand they are the ONLY ones capable of turning the tide with no seen backup, and have to create a next to impossible condition of rescue without combat. And it all slowly falls into place as Bakugo is ENTIRELY on the backfoot. Which he didn’t ALLOW himself to be in final exams. He has to stay back, AND is trying to not be anywhere near AFO and All-Might. (Fair. I seem to recall the kids and villains getting blown FOOTBALL fields of distance when All-Might battled the Nomu.) Now that Deku’s 5% I’ve measured at a faster speed since the Muscular fight occurred, it happens to be a much more stable balance with Iida’s recipro letting this battering ram move work much better. Todoroki has managed a much more clear shape for his ice for the 1st time on large scale attacks. (Momo is there. Sadly doesn’t get to contribute but she does get to at least maintain the buddy system with Todoroki as they run from ground zero on foot.) And Kirishima finishes off by calling to Bakugo. Deku acknowledges while he calls Bakugo his “friend” Bakugo doesn’t have the slightest SEMBLANCE of an equal relationship with Deku. But he IS friends with Kirishima. THAT is a real non-toxic relationship and a rare one thus far. And it THANK GOD goes according to plan with the heroes showing up seconds later to provide the backup needed. Bakugo is SAFE.
INCREDIBLY underrated villain team move being Magne’s…Nightflight cannon? XD I don’t know Compress thought it needed a name. The magnetism stuff is REALLY cool. If you are unaware when two north sides of the magnet repel each other and invisibly push on each other. So Magne launched them doing that. And AFO does the opposite later using Toga to drag everyone off the field. It doesn’t work on Magne because she’s trans.
Gran Torino takes what little time they have to talk by criticizing how he’s trained Deku. SOMEONE has to in the OFA inner circle. Hey All-Might, “Interfering where you don’t have to is the essence of being a hero.” Sighhhhh. Also cool to see Gran Torino recognized by AFO as “Shimura’s friend.” AFO is historically involved in encountering the OFA holders. And we likely now know why Gran Torino has ALWAYS kept a low profile despite his immense power. Did he KNOW AFO was back? No. But remnants of what he built could target him.
Shigaraki acts IDENTICALLY to how Deku did in season 1 when All-Might was cornered by the Nomu. They feared they were going to lose a figure who had given them everything and wanted to will themselves to aid even if they could do nothing. Shigaraki TRULY cares for AFO in a way that ACTUALLY looks like a father son interaction despite the words being more akin to a slave and his master.
But the MOMENT AFO plays victim it all rings hallow. AFO is showing SO many dark traits but is seemingly empathizing as well with Shigaraki…despite him being so happy to use MILLIONS of lives for his spectacle. This trait has a name. AFO is the most dangerous of them all. The Dark Empath is a 3/3 dark triad traits, and also has enough cognitive empathy to guise as an empath. It’s such a bizarre stack of traits psychology is still trying to prove these traits can exist in one person. (But if you google it, AFO is a DEAD RINGER for what the theory poses. I personally believe the theory as cognitive empathy can be learned by anyone including those that can’t properly empathize.) All-Might calls it all out as not a charity AFO does to the unfortunate, but his kingdom of abuse. To those that recognize it AND those that don’t.
BUT the timer is running out. All-Might now sees his handiwork up close realizing AFO has NO FACE. And AFO is laughing him off. All-Might has landed TWO blows this ENTIRE battle while AFO has worn EVERYTHING down and caused mass collateral using ALL-MIGHT’S OWN BODY as his weapon on the people and even ends off by taunting about the woman he killed decades ago. The 7th holder and Gran Torino’s best friend. Nana Shimura. We’re not getting closer to the end, we’re close to uncovering a true nightmare of the bloody past of AFO and OFA that has long since been buried. But we have to save THAT…for next episode.

So many amazing moments in this episode. From the Bakugo rescue to All Might VS AFO to seeing Shigaraki break down. It was all wild. I just love Bakugo's moment of trusting Kirishima after all they've been through
All For One teaching Shigaraki even during the middle of a battle shows that while he is still a villain, he is also a teacher. And he needs his successor to grow and bloom on his own. Into his own symbol of terror and destruction.
I use Kirishima and Bakugo’s friendship as a showing of how far Bakugo and Deku are from being even a SEMBLANCE of healthy despite Deku calling Bakugo his “friend.”

(Fun fact: pretty much entire scene with AFO sending Shigaraki is AFO copying Nana's sacrifice for Toshinori)

Shigarki"s grandmother was the previous user of OFA, she passed the Quirk onto Almight before she died
8:25 It such a simple scene, but people often don't realize that Iida just saved all of their lives. Holding Todoroki and especially Deku back, and bringing them back to some sort of sense. If Iida werent there, they'd probably all be dead.
I know that I will cry next episode but I don’t remember crying at this episode when I first watched it but I cried this time. I don’t know something about the way All Might fought this ep made me tear up
Man this fight makes me want to see All For One and All Mights original fight when they both nearly killed each other even more
All for One's 'Ah, there you are' was so much scarier in the sub, he says something like 'So you are here, too' which isich more terrifying because you think for a moment he found Deku and the others.
On my first watch I just rewatched the rescue moment over and over again. To me, that was the most hype and wholesome moment of MHA so far.

Shigaraki and All For One are strictly student and teacher. Which is similar to Anakin and emperor Palpatine from Star Wars. The creator is a fan star wars and based AFO's mask off Darth Vader"s. Which let's him breath.

This worked because villains were distracted by the rescue squad + he had where to go + some villains did go after him and if Mt.Lady didn't show up he could've been caught again and Bakugou couldn't know she would help
@@SatansBro true i guess....but they used magnetism to propel him....which is only in one direction....bakugos side blasts could have easily made him avoid that.....idk.....it doesn't add up to me, other than just a way to have team work happen even though i still don't think it was necessary

Good lord, I never knew how bad the dub was.
"He can't escape by himself." Meanwhile, Bakugo actually DOES escape by himself. Seriously, their entire plan to save him was completely unnecessary and in no way helpful. He got all the way to where the rest of the team was in 3 seconds, without effort, and was moving FASTER than they were. That was 2 blasts total from Bakugo, neither of them anywhere near his max power, and he has WAY more left in the tank. And just to remind the audience, he could have done whenever he wanted with zero risks.
The simple fact is, there is literally nothing the league could have done to catch him if he just blasted away on his own, and the show even proves that during the escape attempt. He didn't even need Mt. Lady's help to block the magnet throw, because Bakugo can change flight trajectory at will, and the guy throwing people can't alter their course once they've launched. He blasts himself slightly lower or slightly higher or even just accelerates and suddenly there is zero risk of him being grabbed and turned back into marble. It's one of the dumbest moments in the whole show. They build all this hype for an event that is completely unnecessary and doesn't actually accomplish anything.
Yeah, I've always found that escape to be weird.
The main thing is Bakugo is so busy on defense he doesn’t see the way out. You can tell from the way he’s just keeping out of reach. The rescue plan gives Bakugo a way out he can see.

It is objectively bad writing to suggest that Bakugo, who has already been show to be one of if not THE greatest tactician in class 1-A (note that I said tactician, not strategist, as those are different things with different specialties), whose combat sense is as good or better than Deku's, couldn't come up with "I should just fly." by himself. The fact that he supposedly "needed" help in the first place IS the biggest flaw in the writing, because Bakugo, more than anyone, should have been well aware of how easy it would for him to escape without help.

This literal child has been kidnapped, teleported to a wrecked warehouse, is being attacked the same villains who were able to get the drop on him before, and is now maybe 2 dozen yards from a guy who not only just caught a hit from all might, but then proceeded to use him as a wrecking ball for a couple blocks. He’s not gonna be at his top form.
