Heres a hint child, you get to live in florida because the US tax payer subsidizes your cost of risk by paying for your flood recovery costs. If we the rest of the nation took that subsidy away, your parents, friends, teachers, and local leaders could not afford to live in florida. This is the harsh reality that you do not know.

DishSoapSushi FL could turn itself into the most environmentally friendly place on the planet and it won’t make a dent in climate change. It wouldn’t make a difference if the entire US did it. We aren’t that big and important and we aren’t going to save the world. What we should be focused on is the basics. We can’t even get people to stop throwing their mcDonalds trash out their car window or companies to stop using pesticides that poison our food, water and environment. They push this issue on the young people because they know you can’t change it and it distracts you from all the other little issues that are well within our reach to fix but that those in power don’t want to change.

The thing is, mistakes are ok to make. It means you're human. But learning from them and changing things to prevent more mistakes is what people seem to forget constantly. The biggest mistake people make now is not taking these issues seriously enough.

as a person who lived in italy for 27 years, and is now spending the rest of his life in the netherlands (where water management is a top priority), i can assure you all that pro-active politics are EVERYTHING when it comes to climate change and related issues. the netherlands has the greatest water controlling system in the world, and every country could learn a great deal from dutch people. i admire this children and their willingess to fight, but we should also urge adults to open their eyes, because by the time that this kids will be in a position to replace the corrupt government who does nothing to help the people, it will be already too late.

Didn't solve just kicked the can down the road. There are currently talks on daming the channel and between Scotland and Norway due to the sea level rises.

We are also taking every measure against climate change unlike the US. Every country next to the sea has to dam or abandon cities in the next 100 years.

It's unfortunate, that as you've become older you've changed your view. Sticking with fossil fuels is, I feel, not only a lazy outlook but also unimaginative. Considering an uninhabitable planet would make any 'view' moot, do we have a choice but to embrace alternatives?

Maybe we should teach our children about more about climate change, plastics effects in ocean water or that it is not biodegradable, oil, carbon emissions, weather patterns, marine life, the ecosystems around us, more science and natural science, in-depth study of rising water levels like measuring it themselves graphing and tracking it throughout their school career, having school projects for cleaning beaches and restoring natural habitat for animals, marine life and even replanting native plants, So students form opinions based on the work they do, work with communities fighting against this and scientists that are tracking it.
We live on earth always struck me as something funny we don't teach enough about it since we live in it.

This situation reminds me of a quote from South Park. One of the adults saying something that the young generation has to fix their problem.
The entire ManBearPig episode (the second one in particular) is about this. Where Al Gore is fed up that he has tried to warn people about the problem for years and no one wanted to listen to him. And its not till people are dying that something starts to be done. But still the older generation wants to pretend its not an issues, leaving it up to the kids to try to get rid of it. Generally im not a fan of South Parks more preachy episodes, but this one was really well done.

Right? It dosen’t get any mention but really needs to be. At the very least, we should cut down on our meat consumption. Americans are more vulnerable to high cholesterol and heart disease. Why? We eat more red meat than anyone. Cutting down on it would help the environment and ourselves. We wouldn’t need to spend as much on healthcare, and suddenly implementing healthcare for all sounds a lot more doable.

A large chunk of the state will simply go under, yes. The rest will flood regularly. Those in denial won't learn until cities outright disappear and cannot be recovered.

Being a native of South FL I have say that rampant development isn't helping. PAVE IT OVER AND IT FLOODS. The Snowbirds have made it into their own image of New York and Chicago etc. It's no longer a paradise, just cement!

We need to really look at the carbon emissions that comes from the massive amounts of cars, the hundreds of thousands of flights that poison the air, as well as how we manage livestock production. There are millions more cows than there would be "naturally" bc of mass farming. These cows/pigs create a lot of gas when they fat. 3 huge causes of emissions. *Also vote for change on NoV 3rd

I think people working in government should have fluctuating incomes based off of domestic statistics in the state they represent just as an incentive for old politicians to learn about topics and to solve these problems because if they don’t do anything it will affect their pay I don’t know if this is ethical, but I think this would also be good too because the idiots who don’t do anything pay more taxes which can contribute other things more useful.
