I dated a guy who was accused and convicted of r@pe. He spent just over 5 years in a horrible prison before the girl came clean and admitted she'd lied. Even though he was released and his record was expunged, many family members and former friends still treat him like a criminal and won't believe he is completely innocent. This happened over 40 years ago so when OP's husband is saying people will never truly believe him, he's so right.

@tomjoad1363 The girl was charged and convicted of perjury but only served a couple months of jail time. I tried to talk him into suing her but she had nothing, no job, no assets, and he just wanted to put it all behind him and live a peaceful life.

While I have sympathy for OP, she handled the situation poorly. The moment the daughter refused to tell the truth ( a bit later) should have confronted her again and recorded the conversation secretly with audio and video. So there's a movie in my country called The Hunt, about a rural town where everyone knows everyone. An elementary school teacher's best friends daughter has a crush on him. Mind you she's 5, it's a puppy dog crush. He turns her down very gently because well she's just a kid. Shes upset and due to her brother showing her a nude pic from an adult magazine, she describes it later in a way that makes it sound like he flashed her. He is rather brutally shunned, even his 14 year old son gets the same treatment. The entire neighborhood is on him.
Now that girl operates on child logic. If a kid flashes a teacher, he gets a timeout. She didnt realize that does not apply to an adult. Even when she comes forward, and says shes upset other kids are now also lying about him(they claim he had his way with them in his basement....his house doesn't have a basement), they won't hear it, insisting she's 'repressing things'
Granted when all is resolved he does forgive her(this is a movie so realism gets bent), and they go on a hunt, which is common with his town, like a rite of passage for boys, someone tries to shoot him. They miss, but it proves the damage can never be undone. Someone will ALWAYS be doubting him
Point is OPs daughter's 19, not a 5 year old girl, and her actions had severe consequences. Even if she's genuinly sorry and would never do it again, there's no coming back from this. It sucks for OP, it really does, my heart bleeds for her...But this is too broken. There's no winners here. No happy outcome, no nothing. her daughter ruined everything. It was her daughter that ruined everything and because of it, she lost it all. Feels bad man. And that goes double for the soon to be ex husband, who has every right to leave. He's traumatized, his reputation is in ruins, and he was betrayed in one of the worst ways possible. Both the ex husband and wife are blameless and deserved better and yet they lost the most. As for the daughter, she needs serious help, either that or let her fully face the consequences of her actions.

That is NOT the reason why real victims os SA are not taken seriously. It is the reverse. Women were, and often still are, called liars and berated by the police for what they were wearing or where they were, walking down a deserted street, etc. It is only in the past forty years where laws have been changed so that a woman's past sexual behavior is not allowed in a trial, as if that has something to do with whether or not she was accosted.

    • @Nevertoleave

Except, they were NEVER taken seriously. Get your head out of your fantasy world and back to the real one where Brock Turner was caught in the middle of the assault, held until police got there, was 100% at fault and his father argued that HIS life shouldn’t be ruined for “twenty minutes of action” where the judge gave him six MONTHS, of which he served THREE, because Brock was a good swimmer and the judge didn’t want to ruin HIS future.
Where r ape kits have been found to be just placed in storage because the cops decided it wasn’t worth their time because “they’d never catch the guy”, and when the decade worth of kits was finally processed, guess what. Serial assualters were found.
A man assaulted his daughter from 10-14 and the judge gave him 12 years instead of the recommended decades, why? “He’s a good Christian man.”
These aren’t new cases. Look at the abuses by the church. Accusations for decades and no one did anything but deny it

@@shells500tutubolet's play devil's advocate. People's past behaviors should be taken into account. If a guy we all knew was legitimately guilty of a lot of petty theft crimes and they were picked up for burglary or armed robbery it's not that great a stretch but they may be capable of the crime they are accused of.
The problem with SA is, as I see it, it is consent-based. If we consented it is not a crime. If one of the parties does not consent then it is a crime. So the problem becomes the word of two people if there is no evidence of a physical struggle or injuries. All a rape kit is going to show is whether or not semen is present. And if both parties admitted that there was no condom usage but one person said it was consensual then the rape kit will standard procedure in most places is going to provide a useless piece of evidence.
Navigating claims of SA is that much harder because of the nature of consent being the determining factor of whether a crime took place.
Honestly a woman's sexual history in this case would be less relevant than her history of lying. The problem is that it'd be really hard to support or deny in court. And the internet is inundated with stories of habitual liars claiming they were SA'd, of drunk people having a one night stand blaming they were SA'd in a moment of panic to avoid consequences, and a wide variety of other circumstances for false claims of SA.
Many cases of SA are dropped due to the lack of evidence beyond yeah these two people had sex. Many cases of SA are dropped because the accuser recants their story.
And I realize I have begun to ramble so I'll leave this here for now.

If OP had immediately posted the camera video and blasted her daughter all over social media, and disowned her then, maybe her marriage could've been saved. But even that is doubtful- there could still be family members who would still have believed it, and still harassed the husband by calling his workplace. It's heartbreaking for OP, but no amount of counseling will fix this. Her ex husband will have this following him forever and he has no choice but to protect himself by keeping his distance. Daughter rang that bell, it can't be un-rung. Nothing short of a time machine and a very thorough tongue lashing to the stupid, selfish daughter before she did all this, will fix it. She should have learned by age 19 that saying 'sorry' can't fix everything, and how serious her false accusations were.
She definitely needs some kind of mental health treatment to figure out why she thought for a second that this was ok. Actually, they all need therapy of some kind, individually. And the bitch is 19. She is old enough to take responsibility for her actions without it reflecting poorly on her mother who raised her. For whatever reason, sometimes we all do shit things. And it has nothing to do with how we're raised.
Further more, I am sad for this man, but he is doing what's right for him. When this divorce is done he still has his family. He can transfer jobs. This will not follow him wherever he goes because daughter finally DID fess up at the end and he is getting apologized to by everyone. Everyone knows the daughter was the problem and he can continue his life safely from here on out. There will be no backlash. He was traumatized but he will make a clean escape, safely and without any baggage holding him down.
But what will OP have at the end of this? She has lost the love of her life. Her daughter has broken their family. Betrayed her! She is pushing all other family away for how they treated her love. She will lose her home. Her life style. Her person. And every item she has in a divorce will only be a reminder that she was happy and she lost everything through no fault of her own.
What more could she have done to solve the problem she never caused?! She talked with and punished her daughter when the incident first happened. She spoke out immediately to her friends and family. She took her husband's side. She provided evidence. She defended him to EVERYONE even her family, when they were turning against her. She gave him space when he needed to leave. And she made plans to escape and never return, to cut off her friends and family to protect him! All this she did on her own without any prompting and none of these things are easy to do!
WHAT MORE COULD SHE HAVE DONE?! I'M GENUINELY ASKING?!
Now, when this is all said and done, she will have nothing. She loses EVERYTHING and EVERYONE she ever loved. The people most dear to her heart! How is she supposed to carry on?! Who is she to move on with, when the man she adores is right there still loves her, but can not feel safe due to her family. The child who she birthed, loved and provided for, has cost her EVERYTHING for NO REASON. And did it all on a whim when she REFUSED to see the bigger picture, DESPITE OP's warnings! And even though that child NOW knows what she did was crap (if you read the whole story and not the first 2 min, you see she FINALLY pulled her head out of her ass), its too late. There is nothing left to fix.
And then she has trolls like you blaming her and telling her "welp that sucks but you gotta let him go. Its not about you anymore." When it has EVERYTHING to do with her!!! This is her story! Her life! Her loves! When you have no support structure, no friends, and no reason to live, bad things happen! She could do bad things to herself!
I am HOPING, BEGGING that OP has SOMEONE to be there for her at the end of the day because if not, she may not make it out. The husband has his family. The daughter has hers.
OP has no one. And that is dangerous.

Her daughter ruined their lives...him getting out is the ONLY option, getting away from that horrible girl is the ONLY option. He may still love OP but I agree with him, he can't risk being anywhere near her daughter ever again. And yeah, he would look at OP differently if she just abandoned her daughter. But I also think she SHOULD abandon her, and give up on ever getting him back. Her daughter can go live with other family and OP needs a TON of therapy to get through this.

The only reason the husband wasn't arrested and thrown in jail as a pedo was because the daughter was a legal adult when she lied, she's 19. Imagine how much more horrific this would be if the daughter had been just a couple years younger!
It's so sad for OP and the husband, but there is no fixing this. He can never trust the daughter again and can never be around her. I suspect the daughter got mad at step-dad for some dumb teenage reason and decided to get back at him by lying. Or maybe she just didn't like him all that much. She ruined his, her mom's, and her own life as a result - who does she think is going to pay for her college once the year is up, lol? Will her mom even let her live with her, in whatever apartment she manages to get now that they're both out of stepdad's house? What a selfish, stupid brat.

I'll tell you one thing if I was OP I'd help him sue my daughter & family for slander & harassment. When we won I'd tell them all that I no longer have a family cuz I refuse to deal with such hateful, misandrist, harassing, pos. I'd tell them the little lying 💩 is their problem now & forever. I'd never let her anywhere near me for the rest of my days. I'd also make darn sure any boy she's with knows precisely what will happen to him if she decides it'll get her attention.

story 1: i hope the husband sues for defemation, false accusations should be punished by the same punishment of the crime accused, i don't care how old she is; that and also he should sue for defamation the extended family harassing him.
Ops STBX is safest FAR away from OP and the see you next tusday of a daughter.
edit: good on the husbands op for recording the conversation with the daughter as soon as she rushed down "crying", he should never stay in any place alone with that...girl.

This reminds me of that story of the guy that was engaged & her ex coached their daughter to make a false allegation. When it was all sorted out she stupidly thought they were just gonna stroll back into the OP house but he obviously broke up with her & she was acting just the extended family of aholes.
This is a prime example of why we as men CANNOT take the risk of dating single mothers. There's just way too many risks. To any single moms out there sorry for your struggles but this is the reality we live in. Blame all the other women that made excuses for those that made false allegations before & saw zero consequences while innocent men's lives were still ruined even after being vindicated.

    • @JosieJOK
      @JosieJOK 6 днів тому

I remember that story. At least there, the daughter was a manipulated pre-teen, so it could be argued that she wasn’t entirely at fault. Not so for the daughter here: she’s wasn’t manipulated by a toxic ex, and she’s old enough to know that her actions have consequences. A lot of people are slagging the OP for raising the daughter that way but I dunno: both the OP and the husband seemed blindsided by the whole episode, so it seems plausible enough that it came out of the blue. Too bad for OP and especially her husband, they get to suffer the consequences for the daughter’s bad actions. This is not fixable.

    • @bhart3321

@JosieJOK Oh absolutely I applaud OP for standing up to her daughter, should've done it more forcefully though. Regardless both of these stories really illustrate precisely how men have only one option once false allegations are levied. Personally he was too kind to her afterwards & OP should've helped him sue her daughter & family. Idc if she FINALLY did the right thing if I was OP I'd never speak to my daughter again. She ruined the marriage, the family, & everyone's lives. Hope lil liar never has another day of peace for rest of her days.

  • @ellec3747
    @ellec3747 5 днів тому +1

This one's a mess, and most of the blame lies at the daughter's feet. But... I'm side-eyeing OP as well. When this first went down, she had literal, physical evidence that her husband wasn't a creep in the form of a video showing him knocking and entering an unlocked room. But this wasn't shown to the family until her daughter did it, at which point.. the family immediately understood he was innocent! But by then, it was already broken. OP had sat on her hands and let her husbands life unravel because 'my daughter needs to come clean herself.' She didn’t have his back. Her daughter may have learned passivity from her mom, and it's gone off in the worst way possible. I can't even wholly blame the family; they were going to bat for what they thought was a victim of abuse. If the daughter hadn't lied, their actions would be admirable, if a little overzealous. And they stopped _the second_ they saw the proof. The proof that OP had all along.
