It's a page where you can look up the grid spacing for different layouts, so you don't need to count the squares and do maths everytime you create a new spread :D

It's just for reference if you want to divide your pages into thirds or quarters for example, you don't need to count boxes and calculate every time :) It's very useful!
It depends on what you expect from a notebook :) If you prefer really thick paper it's hard to find journals which are much cheaper, in my opinion. Since I started making photos and videos of my journals for social media, it became more important to me that there's no ghosting or bleeding at all. But compared to the notebooks some people use for school, you're right!
