Follow along as I show you the process on scaling the 48 Ford Coupe, Measuring 4 Link bolt locations to plot Anti Squat and more key drag suspension tuning tips to improve 60 foot times.
This video is the first of several showing you how we scale drag cars with custom blocks to allow us to raise the car to a known height to measure all 4 link bolts to the ground (4 link plotting), crank centerline, ride height, pinion angle, shock installed height, coil spring compression and so much more. Also, we show you how front caster impacts your corner weights and cross suspension on the rear. This is part 1 of the 48 Ford Suspension Tuning Series to show how we get the Blown 48 Ford Coupe to launch and safely get down the track!
    Scales used:

    Rear Shocks and springs:

Get with us to let us help you scale your car and do a complete plot of your car as it is today and then we can discuss what changes, if any, we would recommend.

There are different ways to go about scaling a race car so in this video I show you how we do it. The main goal is to get the car up a known distance and level. That way I can comfortable get under the car and plot all my key points to build the suspension plot. Understanding corner weights and how the front end plays a critical part in this plotting is a must to recognize. I show you how a simple caster change on the left front impacts the right rear chassis height and all corner weights. The next video will go into more detail on the 4 link plot and preload with real world video. This car is and will be on M/T Slicks for our first time out, so stay tuned on how I set it up and then see the track results shared.

i'm glad you say HEIGHT & not HEIGHTH.
There's one certain chassis shop owner in the midwest that says heighth... yes heighth with an H. It's extremely annoying to hear this made up word used in his videos, which happens more than it needs to 😡🤬

I watched this video early on when I discovered your channel. I figured this was for the big boys only and I didn't need to worry about this yet. I've been slowly replacing front and rear suspension parts and watching your other videos and today it's starting to click. This is a must do on my list. Just wish those scales weren't so expensive.
    Thanks!!!

You guys are doing a fine job with this series and the information is clear, your passion for racing and teaching are also clear.
Seeing how steering and suspension adjustments affect the corner weights really helps to understand the relationship between
spring compression and weight transfer. Thank you.

Great video Kevin! As you can tell I'm going back to the beginning of your video series so I can properly setup the Z28 as my son & I upgrade a 'stock' F-body suspension to an all-out racing setup. I know it's cheaper (& easier) to buy a car already built but the goal here is to give my son the knowledge of knowing how to tune a chassis to go faster rather than just adding more horsepower and never understanding why some cars go sideways on burnouts & others don't, why tire shake is so bad you have to wear a mouth piece or worst of all, it doesn't go straight.
