I severed a tendon in my hand and it has never been the same and never will. The doctor said "I can fix it and then you would hate me for the rest of your life" meaning he would make it so it would not turn or twist. Didn't do it. So you are incredibly lucky to be using it.
My grandfather was a blacksmith. He died before I was born. Every winter he go to the lumber camps. It was all horse power. He got to stay warm 😂 and coffee when he wanted. My mom said he would take 10 cents with him, but always came home with it. Gotta watch the $ with 10 kids. My grandmother took care of the barn then.
Thank you for the longer video. It took me back to my younger days watching my Dad working as a farrier. You do pretty much the same way my Dad worked. He loved it when he was able to fix a problem when some of the other farriers gave up. Great seeing someone who still has the knowledge to do a great job.
I love the longer version videos as it can give you a different perspective between the hooves. I am always so amazed in the work that farriers do, and the compassion that they have for these beautiful animals. You have a relaxed and easy to listen to voice and very informative in simple terminology for some of us that have little to no knowledge of this craft. Sharing your expertise, different methods and techniques allows one to understand all that goes into farriering. Thank you... I look forward to more of these longer videos.
Hi Caleb, definitely the longer version! Truly enjoy your discussions. That's a nice looking horse and pleased the owners are getting the care needed. This next is trivial but it irksome to me. I always cleaned out my horses hooves prior to my farriers visit. I haven't seen one owner do that for you yet. Just feel it's rude. Enjoy your day!
I love the longer format with your skilled work and calm voice-overs. It's easy viewing and listening and makes for learning in an area where I have no previous knowledge. Thank you, Caleb.
This is the first time that I have watched one of your videos. I really enjoyed the way that you explain a lot more than most farriers do. Thank you for the really good information!
The longer format is fine. I enjoy viewing your videos, you explain what and why you are moving in one direction or another with shoeing a horse. Some horses you have absolutely no problems with others you have to assess the problem and adjust to the horse. Mahalo and Aloha!!!!!
This was so fascinating! You are correct - never would a non- horseman realize the minutae of shoeing a horse! Your knowledge and technique are impressive. All the best in your future endeavors!
I love this more longform content! Especially the amount of time it gives for you to explain things and elaborate on some points, talk about what possibilities/methods you considered at the time and how you think about them afterwards, etc. You have such a calm way of talking and your love for your work really shows. I also enjoy the little anecdotes and the thoughts/mindset about work and life that you share. Watching these videos feels so calming and grounding in a sea of empty, flashy, loud clickbait content - AND I feel like I'm learning things from a profession I would never have encountered. Thank you for sharing your work and the care and effort you take to make these videos. Love from Berlin, Germany!
So glad the diagnosis was made & another shoe applied. Really enjoy the narrative. You are so kind. So glad you enjoy the work you are trained to do. God bless you.
Thank you Caleb! I really enjoyed the longer video and how you explain the process of your trade. I am glad you were able to help this horse with giving him some comfort by working with the vet and a great shoeing job. It’s too bad that 2raw2ride dude didn’t use you for his farrier work. The horror those two horses have been put though is a shame, even though the ride is done, those horses are somewhere in Montana getting dumped as if they were expendable garbage. 😢
There is so much to love about your videos: they are pedagogical, clear, methodical, and I enjoy the problem-solving approach to difficult cases. And in this one in particular, your modesty. Keep up the good work.
I'm new to your page and I've really enjoyed it. I never knew how much goes into shoeing a horse and when they are in pain. You really care about their comfort!!! 😘💕
First time watching your work. Impressed with your honesty, humbleness and skill. I'm 65, have long yearned to be able to shoe my own horse (Trotter) .... Sadly there's no where in my country (NZ) where I can learn to do so and nobody will give me the chance to do so. Hence why I love farrier videos and admire the skill, workmanship and horsemanship. Thank you man. 😊
having a major injury does make you appreciate working. as a prematurely retired guy, it sucks. I like the long form..and with the extra of checking the horse for the signs of injury.
I always wondered how a horse would end up playing and how you shoot a horse. I know a lot about horses I just didn’t know that very interesting video. I appreciate it and I like the longer version to everybody’s right you have a very nice voice.😊
Thank you for your calm and clear explanations. I know nothing about horses but I know I love horses and as a retired nurse I find your videos fascinating. Had to switch from watching the cow videos because they don’t wash the hooves off so there’s manure all over the wounds and they don’t irrigate an open draining abscess and other stuff like that. This drives me absolutely crazy because of my training as a nurse! LOL! Working on horses seems much cleaner and that appeals to my nursing sensibilities. Hard to teach an old dog new tricks, I guess! 😂 Anyway, for me, the longer the videos the better. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and expertise and for your gentle manner with the horses.
I am a lady from Quebec, Canada. I do not know (or did not know) nothing about this field. But since I am a clinical nurse I can appreciate your excellent work and intelligence in your « réflexion » …your thinking! 👌
Nice horse, sad about the arthritis, love your explanations as you work with the hoof, I’ve learned a lot, love seeing the horse walk after your done, thank you.
Hi Caleb, I'm a fan of the longer videos. I find it very relaxing to view after a long day, listening to you explain your craft. I find it really interesting and I've learned a lot watching you!
I’m not a farrier but grew up around horses. I am a musician, composer, arranger, self producer. I wholly agree with your point about being humble. The older I get the more I realize how much I don’t know. I find it difficult listening to myself on recordings when I’m mixing and mastering.
Awesome job! I love the longer video and seeing two hooves. I watch these videos because they help me relax before I take a nap or go to bed. And you do a great job explaining what you’re doing. I have a desk job but I love watching the work you do! Such a cool career! Cheers to your talent and willingness to keep learning!
I do like the longer format. You answered a few questions I was going to ask, one of which was about your anvil. I figured the base was aluminum because of weight. As far as noise goes I guess after awhile the ringing would get old though. Nice work, thank you for the video.
Longer vlog for me too! Your explanations are awesome & very interesting! I had no idea how complicated farrier skills are prior to watching your vlogs - especially with drafts!
I love the longer videos, so so interesting, such a beautiful horse, he looked alot happier, you have to be careful with those coconuts, you also have a nice bruise on your thumb nail, Hamner, I'm guessing, excellent job as always Caleb, thank you very much for posting, and take care.👍💙🐎
With nails, TRADEMARK TO THE INSIDE!! Isn't that correct, Caleb? I love seeing both feet being done. It makes a big difference when you show the before and after. Best Regards from your friend, the Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖 🇨🇦🇺🇸
Great video! I’m looking to become a farrier in the near future. The way you explain what you’re doing, what something is, why you’re doing it, really is helping me understand. Not to mention you do a great job and it’s super entertaining! Thank you.
Iove your patience, you file by hand just like my shoer I've had for 35 plus years, love it. Boy do I miss him. His patience and old school ways, just like you, it's inspiring that you have the old ways or techniques. 😊🤠🎉
I’ve watched a lot of farrier videos and well, have had a lot of farriers in my time, but I really like the way you do your videos and your technique. I wish you were a farrier in AZ!
I belive this is the first video of yours I've seen, and I really love your calm voice and detailed voice-over. I subscribed because I really enjoy learning about what is being done and why when I'm watching videos, and this was excellent.
I haven’t seen any farriers use electronic tools. I don’t think it would even make sense, it’s completely different if you watch horse shoeing and hoof trimming on cows.
I really enjoy watching your work with both sides. I also enjoy your commentary on the reasons why you do things and your explanation of the terminology. My grandfather was a Farrier back in the 1920s to the 1970s. 😊😊
Been watching cattle hoof trimming for a while now, and just started getting into horse hoof trimming videos. Thank you so mucn for your awesome content, and also the simple yet detailed explanations for newbies like me!
I really like the way you shoe. You fitting the shoe to the hoof. And not rasping the toe down to the shoe. You also ring the nails instead of nipping them. I shod horses for 30 yrs. You do a beautiful job !
I never trimmed my horse's soles, I rode on barefoot along gravel roadsides and rocky logging roads 90% of the time and that kept his soles perfect, I used a Surform dry wall rasp (I did dry wall) to take his hoof walls down. If there was any thrushy smell I would take him down to the saltwater inlet to soak his feet then up the creek or a rinse, it was amazing to see a bright white line after the creek. He was never lame in his 33 years. I can't understand why horse owners hand their horse over to you without clean feet.
I like how you explain what you are doing and why. You have qualities of a good teacher.
I like the longer video. On the shorter one I’m just getting interested and then it’s over. Love your work and your voiceover.
I severed a tendon in my hand and it has never been the same and never will. The doctor said "I can fix it and then you would hate me for the rest of your life" meaning he would make it so it would not turn or twist. Didn't do it. So you are incredibly lucky to be using it.
If his "fix" involves not being able to move fairly well, then it's not really a fix at all.

I enjoy your explanation in your videos. I don’t even have a horse
I did enjoy your work you really do care. Thank you.

I love the longer format with your skilled work and calm voice-overs. It's easy viewing and listening and makes for learning in an area where I have no previous knowledge. Thank you, Caleb.

Truly enjoy the hoof per video. Awesome work
This is the first time that I have watched one of your videos. I really enjoyed the way that you explain a lot more than most farriers do. Thank you for the really good information!

Good video. Longer is better in my opinion. That fact that you teach and share relevant information and actually talk is important . Thank you!
I love the longer format and would even love to see all four hooves!
I luv the longer cuts, much more informative
So glad the diagnosis was made & another shoe applied. Really enjoy the narrative. You are so kind. So glad you enjoy the work you are trained to do. God bless you.
I enjoy watching your work.Very calming and helps me to relax.😊
More longer videos please 😊
I really enjoy the longer videos, all the ways you could get hurt shoeing horses and you get attacked by a coconut! 😮
Right?!😅
Thank you Caleb! I really enjoyed the longer video and how you explain the process of your trade. Impressed with your honesty, humbleness and skill.

i like the longer format! thanks for showing the horse walking, he really does look better after everything yall did for him
I like the longer video and extensive explanations.
having a major injury does make you appreciate working. as a prematurely retired guy, it sucks. I like the long form..and with the extra of checking the horse for the signs of injury.
Longer format! Interesting to see that a horse’s feet aren’t all identical.
I was wondering what happened as you answered the injury to you inner wrist. Thank you. I like the longer videos.
I always wondered how a horse would end up playing and how you shoot a horse. I know a lot about horses I just didn’t know that very interesting video. I appreciate it and I like the longer version to everybody’s right you have a very nice voice.😊
Nice looking shoe. Thank you for sharing.🐴
Awesome to see you Enjoying what you do for a living .The horse even looks Satisfied
Love the longer format. There is nothing like watching a good farrier at work.
Interesting, good farrier ship.
Thank you for your calm and clear explanations. I know nothing about horses but I know I love horses and as a retired nurse I find your videos fascinating. I like the longer videos they give me time to watch how you work. It's very interesting to hear you explain all the things you do.
Your making shoes looks like an art form.
Hi Caleb, I'm a fan of the longer videos. I find it very relaxing to view after a long day, listening to you explain your craft. I find it really interesting and I've learned a lot watching you!

Listening to myself is the worst doing voice overs and talking to the camera is the hardest and my least favorite part
Nice! I'm a new subscriber but both formats👍👍👍🐴🐴🐴
Cudos on the use of the stand! Your back will thank you as the years go by.
The longer videos are nice.
Pretty cool how this horse picked his foot up for you without being asked.
Interesting and informative in a professional manner as usual. Keep up with the longer version.
I like the longer format. I’m hoping to become a farrier and your info and opinion is appreciated and helpful
I do like the longer format. You answered a few questions I was going to ask, one of which was about your anvil. I figured the base was aluminum because of weight. As far as noise goes I guess after awhile the ringing would get old though. Nice work, thank you for the video.

Definitely like the longer videos. Love the fact that you don't use all the power tools a lot of these younger farriers use lately.

That's correct the logo or mark goes to the inside I do check though as I've seen a couple nails that were defective
You are an artist. You really care and take care of the horses. Awesome job.
Great video! I’m looking to become a farrier in the near future. The way you explain what you’re doing, what something is, why you’re doing it, really is helping me understand. Not to mention you do a great job and it’s super entertaining! Thank you.

Thanks, Caleb‼️👩🏻🦳👍👍👍Nice job. Happy horse!
Learning a lot love your videos and your O.C. Cheers

I like your longer video. Ouch on the tendon story! Really like your explanations, too. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🥰
I don’t mind the longer video when there is great content like this one had. Good job,
Thank you for telling your story!
A happy horse with a nice pedicure.
I love it when a horse is treated so well.
Thank you.
From what I’ve seen so far, the longer format is awesome! Please do more of them
i like the 2 hoofs vids
I haven’t seen any farriers use electronic tools. I don’t think it would even make sense, it’s completely different if you watch horse shoeing and hoof trimming on cows.
It`s amazing how much difference in the life of a horse a good set of hooves can have
This is the first time i watch your video and I enjoyed it very much including the time frame.

Currently sidelined for six weeks with a broken ankle myself. Can’t imagine having to take six months off! That must have been rough!
Awesome job mate I enjoyed watching you shoe the horse well done wonderful job.kind regards Gregory Lee from Melbourne Victoria Australia 🇦🇺 😀 👋🤙👍.
Definitely like the longer videos I’d like to see all 4 hoofs being shoed
The longer video is great. I love watching hoof restoration. The horses are calm and seem to understand why you are there. Subbed and liked.
I like your commentary in your videos. Very informative and relaxing 😌
