Do you know why it’s called “Belfast”. In the early 90s the Orbital brothers went to Belfast to hang out with David Holmes and mates. They left a cassette behind them when they went back to England - it had the initial version of the track on it. Everyone loved it so it became a single. That’s why it’s Belfast. One of the loveliest tunes ever recorded ❤❤❤
My first Orbital experience was at the Limelight in NY in the fall of '92. Ultramarine opened. What a night. I still have the t-shirt. Second time was a year later at Mask-a-Rave 2. Aphex Twin and Utah Saints were on the lineup for that. Still have that t-shirt, too, a long-sleeve with the logo reflective with the hologram fishes in it. Still as fresh as the day I first bought their green album [on cassette!] at the HMV on 72nd St. Probably still have that tape in a box someplace too. Time sure flies when you have a great soundtrack. Keep doing what you do, Phil and Paul.
Green album? Orbital? As the first was. Orbital CD, Yellow Album. Orbital Brown. Orbital Blue. I do remember the Lush single being Green. But not an album. How much for the T’s? JK 😁
The original was class & still stands the test of time today, but this just adds more dreaminess to the tune, you can imagine being in a hot air balloon and watching the world go by as you gently float by...... Thanks DH for superb remix & Orbiutal for the original beauty and upload 👍
Mr David Holmes.... U just made a MASTERPIECE with this remix, thank You very much! I just can't get enough of it, i've listened this many many times - an instant classic to me😊
1989 on the M25 I found you 1995 Tribal Gathering I fire ate on stage with you 2005 I Danced to you 2015 I missed you 2025 More mixes and continue xxxxxxxx
This track means so much to me, I have been with Orbital since the M25 Daze and seen them live on stage more than I have any other, love the work they put into it all, thank you Phil and Paul xx
I fucking love music, I was listening Sleaford Mods for a year, and never payed attention on Orbital (Dirty Rat) until today. What a happy day to discover this :))))
30 something is like the paradise for the fans of Belfast, there's like 5 different mixes of it there, it dominates the compilation. Not even Chime, Halcyon, or Impact has that many of them. Love this comp, just love it. I'd just wish for some more of your own reworks of the classix, like Lush, or Are We Here.
The Belfast (30 something years later mix) is just EVERYTHING i ever wished for. Im going back to then, what and how it was. F'king deeeeeeeevine. What an album... i admit to being dubious but...... IT BANGS.
And yet there is another remix, not on 30 something, its by Rory Gallagher (no, not that Rory Gallagher. but a DJ). I stumbled onto this track while watching a video about my old home town and went searching for the music, never hearing anything about Orbital or Belfast. Suffice to say this version is my favorite and seems less dated, maybe I'm biased as it was in the video. Here's a link if you're curious.... ua-cam.com/video/Nft0M2HZc3k/v-deo.html
Absolutely brilliant laidback remix. One of my favs of the Thirtysomething remixes. Love it from start to finish. Also in a way, it's come full circle as I remember David being the promoter for the early Orbital gig in Belfast back in 1990 from which experience the track got its name. Or something along those lines. Big thumbs up!
@@nutster9000 Yup, I wasn't there, was 12yo at the time but read about it years ago. Cheers for correcting the circle term, had forgot how to say it. 😊
This is one of those tracks - that really-REALLY - takes you to a different world ... _- with very unique sounds ... Like the somewhat "whale-song" & "oceanic" sounds, near the beginning ...&... the somewhat "bee-buzzing" chorus (~__4:48__)_ ... Thank you (for the great unique sounds - and)... - for the unpredictable _(not-so-simple-minded/nursery-rhyme-like - common in "rap"-tarded music)...-_ melody & rhythm ... Seriously - THANK YOU!
Fkin awesome remix. Took the very essence and reinterpreted into another level. I love the original a lot but man this remix really knocks it out of the park.
esta muy bien encantan los efectos de cuerdas ( violín) y la forma que estira musicalmente los tonos ( cómo sube de un tono a otro , los ritmos muy bien balanceados le da fuerza a la composición..... gracias por compartir
Same as well Always Did like David Holmes Rework Of Classics like Smoke Belch And the Sabres of paradise And well But to rework this And hold it to the original It still has that Slightly haunting sound for those to know what this this meant in those times
To be fair, remixing a record like "Belfast" is a fool's errand as it's perfect, although David Holmes does it justice here. Agree though, original is still better.
I can die happy having heard this in my lifetime
Belfast is a perfect track. Never heard a disappointing mix, and this David Holmes version is simply stunning.
totally agree bro......gorgeous 👍

SEEING THE BROTHERS, LIVE IN A SMALL CLUB, OVER 25 YEARS AGO, WAS BEYOND INCREDIBLE !

Excellent remix of a an all time classic 😎
Difficult to do justice to such a timeless classic but Mr Holmes has well and truly nailed this.
It’s just way ahead of the curve.

Grazieee amico per la meglio musica dal mundooooo🥹🥹🥹
Great work from Mr Holmes, but nothing will touch the original for me. So many wonderful wobbly memories, with wonderful wobbly people
Same as well Always Did like David Holmes Rework Of Classics like Smoke Belch And the Sabres of paradise And well But to rework this And hold it to the original It still has that Slightly haunting sound for those to know what this this meant in those times
@@danielpayne500 love Sabres, RIP Andy Weatherall. One of the greatest creative artists of our generation.
The breakbeat in the original defined the so g as much as the keyboard melody does. .
Very cool mix, wish David H would remix Halcyon as well 🤩
Holy crap this mix is amazing. Nice work!!
Yep ❤️🎧

Goddamn orgasmic mind blowing epic
🙏👍
Guys, I love this remix but there is a nasty 'click' sound at 7:52 on all versions (this, CD, Qobuz, Spotify etc) I've heard.
Very unpleasant clipping sound
Tonight I wanna go to BELFAST
❤ I hope one day I will.
QUITE AN OUTSTANDING REMIX...HARD TO TOP PHIL AND PAUL !
Its his control of the Bass, that smooth smooth ever present bass. David... nailed it mate.
Im probably on my own here but Belfast should never be remixed. Its Perfect the way it is
Who going Leeds ✌️❤️
just witnessed that 999 turning to 1k likes, am I proud of myself?
Fitting as the Original is about Holmes no?
original smashed this tho
My mommy chose snow white today
very twee
I prefer the original
