All of what you said is true. However, I'm sure re-casting the characters will be difficult. Sadly, the actors from the movies are the faces of the characters on screen. It will be difficult for the casting crew to find people who don't stray too far. Of course, the writing must also be good. People are naturally going to be wary of the writing. So many franchises have seen awful writing.
This could either be amazing simply due to author involvement, or awful, due to how much her feminism and other personal politics has become for her since the end of the movies. Given the hope is to tell a more fleshed out version of the stories that people loved I think will hit better that the Fantastic Beast films which had some of the characters from the original books and films but it did feel like it was its own thing and maybe that's why the films fell short.
I’ll be honest with you Mr H and your followers, I started playing a game called Hogwarts legacy. Never saw one Harry Potter/Fantastic beasts film. But after enjoying the game so much I started to watch them. Very good films and great entertainment. I just get worried when I hear about a series being made. I’m nervous but also excited at the same time!
You should read the 7 Harry Potter Books. They are awesome. Glad you enjoyed the Hogwarts game..i am busy with my 2nd playthrough. I want to play as each house. So yea that is gonna take a lot of time.
I feel you on the worry because of how modern Hollywood is. This is a great franchise for sure grew up with the films and the books also enjoyed Hogwarts Legacy. Given the films really only covered the main plot of the books and not much of the other stories and minor characters the hope is that the series can do more that the films couldn't cover because of run time constants similar to the full uncut versions of the Lord of the Rings films.

I tried watching the first few films recently and they've aged pretty badly IMO - not a super fan but am pretty up for a well done series. As for the trans issues - I'm sure the loons will cry and hurl insults...whilst the rest of the world ignores them and enjoys the show.
One nice thing about Harry Potter is that a whole family can enjoy the stories together. The basic ideas are simple enough for children to understand, but there is enough interesting complexity and humor to keep adults involved as well. The books are well written and entertaining. It would be good to see a faithful adaptation of the series for television.

About Harry Potter not needing a new adaptation. I think that Harry Potter is on the line where it might not NEED a new adaptation. But, it can do with one. Meaning, people won't be screaming about it not being needed. Especially since this is a series; which has not been done before. i love the harry potter movies, its my fav franchise. the original cast will always be the characters for me, but i`ve been begging for a remake as a TV show well before they announced it. I read the books after i`ve seen the movies at least a dozen times, and ill have to say i prefer the books. the movies missed so much and they changed so much to fit the format and time constraint for a movie that it`s kinda criminal that they didn`t do it as a show from the beginning. im hyped for the HBO show, and i hope they do it justice. i have faith that it will do well with J.K.Rowling is heavily involved. i hope they will announce spin-off shows to run along side the main show if season 1 is a hit. There is zero need for this. It would have been much more interesting if they would have gone back to a young James, Lilly, Sirius, Remus, and Severus and tell an original story about the Voldermort's rise to power and the creation of the Order of the Phoenix, ending with the attack on the Potter's house.
While I hear on that as being a fun road to travel I given hoe both the Fantastic Beast films and even other books like the Cursed Child under preformed that doing a more fleshed out version of the original series and books might be the best way to go.
So instead of a new telling with hopefully sone good changes you want a prequel where you know everything that will occur? That is the main problem with prequels in my mind, you pretty much know the ending.
Let me be clear; in general I’m against this because remaking HP I don’t think it needs to. The films are fine. Flawed like the series but fine. It would have been better to do Hogwarts Legacy or something involving Hogwarts while not connected to HP. That said, assuming the showrunners and the writing is good; I actually think this could be good. There’s a lot from the books that were cut from the films. Understandable given it’s a movie but with the nature of a TV show; you can accomplish a lot and there’s a slight chance you could actually improve as an adaptation given that extra time. Obviously this depends on the script and the writing so it could be bad. But I will patiently wait and see.
IMO the movies went down the toilet since the 5th film, which was when David Yates was brought on as Director. Cant believe they stuck with him for 6 more movies, that's INSANE.The 2nd movie was the most faithful adaptation storywise while the 3rd movie was faithful aesthetically. I for one have been clamoring for a series reboot for over a decade now.

Definitely a good and fair point. My two cents why they are going this route is because the Fantastic Beasts films while same universe not entirely the same characters so maybe that's why they flopped. But with this project we get the familiar stories but they are more fleshed out so the parts that some audiences never saw or read about might be enough to get the win.

Even if they done a prequel telling the story or Lily and James potters time at Hogwarts, or even Dumbledores. Or going forward do a sequel of Harry in his late 30’s to early 40’s etc. there’s so much story potential, to re-hash what’s already been told just seems like such a missed opportunity considering you have the studio backing and production ready to go.

I'm not sure a Potter series can be done justice in the current political climate. J.K. Rowling is still left on a lot of issues.
I hate reboots but as long as it is faithful ill check it out. It will show a lot more of the story from the books because of the tv show format.

I never got in to potter I thought a kid wizard that was already done Disney did it first with wizards of Waverly place I like that show it was funny

i love the harry potter movies, its my fav franchise. the original cast will always be the characters for me, but i`ve been begging for a remake as a TV show well before they announced it. I read the books after i`ve seen the movies at least a dozen times, and ill have to say i prefer the books. the movies missed so much and they changed so much to fit the format and time constraint for a movie that it`s kinda criminal that they didn`t do it as a show from the beginning. im hyped for the HBO show, and i hope they do it justice. i have faith that it will do well with J.K.Rowling is heavily involved. i hope they will announce spin-off shows to run along side the main show if season 1 is a hit. Also, i hope the fans don`t give the new cast, especially the childern actors a hard time. we all know how toxic fans can be. hyped hyped hyped... if you can`t tell i`m HYPED.

They tried to get that to happen with Hogwarts legacy, and they failed oh so hard.

Hopefully not. It was somewhat tolerated then because it was just a cheesy play. This isn't that. It's a hard reboot of the franchise. If Rowling screws up anybody, it could spell doom. People are starting to pay more attention to woke things, so the fanbase will be more sensitive.
The movies were rubbish - we certainly need a FAITHFUL adaptation. Hopefully the new actors can make the roles their own and obliterate all association with the characters from the current woke losers. I guess whether or not they make Hermione black will be a good guide to how it will play out.
True. But I think it would be wise to keep an eye on who is cast for all the main characters. If any are messed up, it could be a red flag.

There is zero need for this. It would have been much more interesting if they would have gone back to a young James, Lilly, Sirius, Remus, and Severus and tell an original story about the Voldermort's rise to power and the creation of the Order of the Phoenix, ending with the attack on the Potter's house.
While I hear on that as being a fun road to travel I given hoe both the Fantastic Beast films and even other books like the Cursed Child under preformed that doing a more fleshed out version of the original series and books might be the best way to go.
So instead of a new telling with hopefully sone good changes you want a prequel where you know everything that will occur? That is the main problem with prequels in my mind, you pretty much know the ending.

Let me be clear; in general I’m against this because remaking HP I don’t think it needs to. The films are fine. Flawed like the series but fine. It would have been better to do Hogwarts Legacy or something involving Hogwarts while not connected to HP. That said, assuming the showrunners and the writing is good; I actually think this could be good. There’s a lot from the books that were cut from the films. Understandable given it’s a movie but with the nature of a TV show; you can accomplish a lot and there’s a slight chance you could actually improve as an adaptation given that extra time. Obviously this depends on the script and the writing so it could be bad. But I will patiently wait and see.
IMO the movies went down the toilet since the 5th film, which was when David Yates was brought on as Director. Cant believe they stuck with him for 6 more movies, that's INSANE.The 2nd movie was the most faithful adaptation storywise while the 3rd movie was faithful aesthetically. I for one have been clamoring for a series reboot for over a decade now.

Definitely a good and fair point. My two cents why they are going this route is because the Fantastic Beasts films while same universe not entirely the same characters so maybe that's why they flopped. But with this project we get the familiar stories but they are more fleshed out so the parts that some audiences never saw or read about might be enough to get the win.
@@donovanbradford8231 I see your point, but let’s say for example they do a 10 episode season per book, as we know what already happens and have seen it before it completely takes away the mystery of where the story will go. It’ll be like a tick box exercise of marking off things your waiting to see which is crap viewing experience. For people who have never read the books or seen the movies and are interested in this then that’s great for them to see it blind, but for everyone else it’s just completely underwhelming. Even if they done a prequel telling the story or Lily and James potters time at Hogwarts, or even Dumbledores. Or going forward do a sequel of Harry in his late 30’s to early 40’s etc. there’s so much story potential, to re-hash what’s already been told just seems like such a missed opportunity considering you have the studio backing and production ready to go.
I read the books watched the movies. I would need a new story from that universe. I was not a kid;)
