We finally found out what was the cause of the horrible noise coming from the front of our C30. As it turns out things are much worse than we originally thought and could potentially derail the project.

Any updates? It’s been 7 months, man!
Oh man! This is actually pretty good news. You can do the diff and a whole bunch of things at the same time.
I'd love to know how the C30 is doing now. It's always a shame to see people not having a great time in these cars because they're so good when they do work.
holy crap, that has more rust than my 1990 240, mad props to northern car owners, you guys are dedicated. i live in the south and cant imagine dealing with that rust on a car that new.
Check your sub frame bushings they are shot. Since you have found an accident on that side replace the control arms they look bent
I have had at least 10 Volvo’s. Multiple p2 chassis. I had an s90 that I watched the drivers wheel move forward and back over an inch.
Bad subframe bushing. We have 2 Volvo’s in the family now, 2004 V70 R and 2008 XC 70.
Happy Holidays mate!... nice to see you still have her... sorry to hear about that caster issue.... in anycase i sold mine and got a 2008 Saab Aero2.8Awd ... i miss my cutie C30 but never going back ... cheers keep them videos coming! 😎🙌🤘🌍🏁🏁🏁
Very interesting. Good luck with the repair
No. No. This is a "good" thing... Pain in the ass? Well, yeah, kinda. But this is the PERFECT opportunity to pull the entire engine and trans ON the cradle and do ALL those little tiny things you'd hate to do while the engine is in the car.
It's not really a cradle on these cars, but yes it would make it easier
You know what comes with a new subframe? Awd swap donor car. Just saying....
It's goddamn weird that an alignment issue as pronounced as that went unnoticed for that long. But I was right that the noise was liner rub, just didn't know it was from a crash years ago...
I hope this worked out in the end. Is that your '08 for sale in Paterson?
I just did control arms on my c30 I felt it at highway speeds and with my leg pushed the wheel back you could see the bushing was shot hope you get yours fixed soon
Love my 09 XC90 V8’s too.
Would you be willing to sell the Konig rims you had on the C30, or any of the other components on the car or is she still in the works?
I thought the wheel always looked off but thought it was the panels not lining up from the damage. I assumed it had an alignment so the suspension was inspected. I guess it’s better to never assume something is good without a full inspection to confirm. At least it’s not the car frame being bent
I had the alignment done twice since owning her. Shop said nothing.
ShiftingLanes yeah shows you can trust a shop to notice things unfortunately. Glad it was caught before you did more power with LSD. Could have caused some major damage on a launch.
U sure your whiteline bushings arent 2 of the same (one mounted in reverse). Whiteline sent me 2 of the same sides when i ordered mine and diddnt realize untill the car was up in the air.
At least yours runs. I'm completely rebuilding the head on mine right now
me too but on my v50 t5
Any updates for the c30? Did the project die?
I’m looking at a practical hatch that offers some sportiness. I’m now between a C30 R Design and a 2013+ Focus ST. I’m able to find them for around the same price +/- a couple grand. What would you recommend?
Honestly. They’re both good options. I’d drive them both and see what you like.
Upgrade your front brake to the 320 mm kit. Just take one from an AWD or Focus ST. And it is plug and play
Nice cold start
Its honestly not terrible dropping the subframe. I did it solo in my garage 3x on my V70R with an engine support bar and jack stands. It gets annoying realigning it but it isn't bad by any means.
Who makes those Seats..and what Website did you Purchase?
PERFECT opportunity to install the Elevate Dual-port Compressor Bypass Valve while you have the engine down. Make sure to turn the dial two full-turns counter-clockwise before installing for just the right amount of blow-off. Not too much. Not too little. ...just right.
I absolutely LOVE mine on my '09.
Greg seems t be MIA...any update you can share?
Good luck love the C30 have basically the same engine in a V40 can't beat the five cylinder
This is just a great excused to drop in new transmission goodies while the subframe is out!
I see your in Jersey, where about? I'm from there, I just bought a 2011 C30 today. 97k miles its growing on me.
They’re fun little cars. We’re in now Jersey. Morris county.
@@ShiftingLanes Morris county, that's where I'm from. I went to school in Mt. Olive and lived in Budd Lake. My Dad lives in Riverdale.
Maybe you can find a good parts car. I haven't seen may C30s at junkyards but I've seen plenty of S40 and V50s. If that motor comes out though don't put it back in stock.
Please fix it! We love that car :)
That's not caster!!! Caster is an angle!! Why hit us with so much dead space before the C30 info!!
No big deal.find a straight subframe.and buy a rebuilt rack/pinion and inner/ outer tie rods lower control arms / ball joints and struts..." You will want to replace everything while your at it"...drop the old and replace the new and align it....done..I did this myself in one day no lift...no helper
“Not kill the build” 😂
What happened with the C30??????????
My c30 is making a low speed grindy rubby sound from the same area and this makes me afraid to check it out.
My money is on CV joints...very common on these cars. If it is, avoid aftermarket, try to find used OEM ones; new is very expensive and the aftermarket ones are junk. I had an aftermarket one blow up on the freeway less than 200 miles after replacing. Plenty of others have had short life with aftermarket as well.
It ended up being the top not of the strut had came loose, letting the mount wiggle around when the spring was compressed
Two years later. Nothing.
Three years later. Still nothing
Please sell me your intake plenums if the car gets worse, ive been a loyal fan!
Lol. I’ll keep you in mind. Maybe I should take a page out of the rb26’s book and go itbs.
Any updates on this? 😢
We got it mostly fixed. But have since sold the car.
Now you have a good excuse to do more mods
Ever get this fixed?
Yes, and he sold the car last week.
What happened to this baby??
That Chevy might be a c10... that partly c30
Meh, subframe is a piece of cake - support the engine, unbolt everything and it just falls free :p
Good time to work on whatever else you have planned... and do something about that rust.. damn! Even just some rust reformer and epoxy paint... anything!
don't even need to support the engine on this car, but you do have to pull the rack down with it.
@@LukeHFlynn Can you not just unbolt the rack from the subframe? My familiarity is mostly with P80 and P2 (850/S80).
@@looncraz you can, but the bolts are on the top rather than the bottom like P2. It’s just one bolt to disconnect the shaft and another to take the lines loose - not hard
Get the new v60 (:
For the LOVE OF GOD Stop calling him a her
Rich LOL
