- ℹ️ IN THIS EPISODE: We go back to our favorite place to visit in Florida in the winter while at our Homebase. Silver Springs State Park is an amazing place, that was one of the original tourist attractions all the way back in the 1800s. It has been a tourist attraction since, but also a major trading post, a movie set for multiple movies (Tarzan, James Bond: Moonraker, etc, etc) and at one point would host over 5000 visitors a day! Unfortunately, in the 70s, it started its rapid decline. Find out why in the video along with a bunch of other Silver Springs State Park fun facts ...... just off the top of my head!

You are correct. It is nice. I live here in Ocala. I hope not too many people watch this and flock in here. This is the real Florida. quiet, cool, and fairly not too crowded. You are right, Sea Hunt.
As a kid in Florida in the 60s and 70s I remember going to Silver Springs, 6 Gun Territory Weeki Watchee and others. The 1st time we went to Busch Gardens, it only had the flume ride and the bird show. It also had at the time, the world’s tallest escalator!
thats cool, we've actually never done busch Gardens, But I imagine it's hectic now.
We love checking out movie filming locations. Definitely on the bucket list for next time. But definitely not Disney.
Looks like it would be a great adventure to do next time we are in Florida. Great little piece of history, Laurence.

Visited in 1980 on our honeymoon to FL before it was a State Park. Glass bottom boat tour and gators. Loved it. Stopped with the kids in 1996 and disappointed at the changes. No glass bottom boat tours then. Now that you can kayak there we want to go back. TV show Sea Hunt was filmed there.

We had a blast walking around Silver Springs. Didn’t get to see much wildlife at all. We will be back!!
There are some nice easy flat trails as you know. But yeah to see the good stuff you need to kayak or do the tour

This is my first visit to Florida from Somerset England and I am very impressed with this area. It is beautiful.
Natalie and Laurence have made it so enjoyable and we love hearing about the history behind the places we have visited.

We were likely there the same day you were as I know a band was setting up and doing sound checks for some event that evening. Too bad we didn’t see you as it would have been great to bump into you again. We had managed to snag a last minute cancellation at the campground - it’s *always* booked - and had a great time there as well.

Just off the top of my head... you guys should go to the World Equestrian Center in Ocala..
We did go to the car show back in May & Natalie has some buddies who compete in Dog Agility there. But not done a horse show yet
