Ivan, do not take your car from that garage, they know what was done and what needs to be done and be patient. Projects like this take time and if you think you are the only one who has been in this situation, you are very wrong. And you need a shop with the proper tools to do all the necessary work. The interior sheet metal work is very challenging and unless you plan on putting aluminum foil for floorboards, you are kidding yourself. Leave the car there and let them finish the job.
From my experience, projects like this take up to 6 months. Yours is not the only project they are working on, so they can't dedicate all of their resources to any one project. It is what it is, especially on such a custom job.
@@tomterrell1761 exactly. And all the cars that were in there before him with owners also wanting their cars done now too. They are probably too polite to say “this will take 6 months, you’re not first inline.” The more of a problem the owner is, the less desire they will have to work on it.
If you are out of sight, you are not on the shop owners mind Ivan. It’s a fine line between pushing them and motivating. You have a great personality to motivate, and it is not a small project. Think of it as a new project, stating now, set achievable daily goals. I think you are over the half way point. It is really a unique modification and we all want to see you smiling on the first test drive.
@ yes, good point, leaning towards the advantages of UA-cam. UA-cam may not impact the business negatively, depending on his customer base , but could bring him new customers, in the spirit of keeping it positive. The owner would be sharp enough to think of the negative aspects on his own. Ivan is already thinking about an alternative approach if necessary to keep the project moving forward.
Ivan, I wish these guys were around me. Great fabrication from what I've seen. Incredible amount of work done in a short time. Don't know the relationship story but it looks like you pissed these guys off. The heavy lifting is done, get your car and go somewhere else. I would first try to iron things out with these guys. Good luck dude.
Ohh man, these guys are sloooow! Be patient, when done, pretty sure it will be so fun to drive this car that you will forget all that waiting! Maybe giving 1or 2 hundred USD to the dude in charge would get your car done quicker! I am willing to chip in 20 CAD next live. Take care!!!
The repairer is doing what he needs to do to keep all his customers happy, the remaining work on your Datsun requires experienced people, not boys.Ivan be patient!
You convinced me and made me understand some time ago why you were buying certain cars so you have a project to do. Then you bought this, and I was like, you know, I am just going to wait and see while have large amounts of optimism. Well, nope, I take that back. This was just a big disaster like I thought and convinced myself otherwise. Chopped the hell out of this car, making it something it never should have been done. This is fun, though 😅😊🎉😊😂
Ivan, you shouldn’t have talked so badly about the garage in the video. That will not motivate the guys. Don’t make them mad, it won’t end well. Maybe offer a bonus for finishing the car. In my experience, when I rush someone on a job I get shoddy work. I have a name for the Datsun….”Money Pit.” 😢
Agree with some of the other comments, either pay the boss more to bump your car up to the front of the line or find another shop to finish the build and clean up some of the bolts that protrude from the frame. Either way be patient sir, this type of build takes a time and that’s if everything goes perfect but it rarely does. You don’t want to rush them though, that only results in mistakes and poor workmanship.
I can imagine those guys thinking oh shit he is back again a pain in the arse they wont like you tampering with the car while they are working on it for gods sake take a brake you are starting to sound very put offing did you expect to drop the engine in plug a few things in and drive it home it shows you didnt have a clue i bet you dont even know how much all this is going to cost you .
Better document all the different parts used for future reference if you need to exchange them. With a mod car or aka franken car the problem is find out the exchage part where they all come from and how to get them.
Yes this is important. Also to be able to inform any future garage what parts are installed, in order to find the correct replacement parts. Starts with the brake pads 😂
Sorry Ivan, but you sound really entitled, almost saying that these people are bad and taking way too long. People who don't work with their hands cannot estimate how massive of a job is doing such engine swap. Please be patient!
Hey Ivan projects like this takes time the work that has been done seems fairly good quality it’s a design & construct not cut & shut I can see a whole lot of other projects on the go so be patient my friend! It’s looking good!!

An emergency on your part is not an emergency on their part. Be glad they didn't park it outside and tell you to come and get it. At least it's still on the lift. Maybe you can do an episode on finding a place to do upgrades to your vehicles. 700 or so Advance Auto parts stores in America are closing. Supposedly all theur stores in California are closing. Research that situation and share your thoughts on why thus is happening. Is this the beginning of the end for auto parts stores everywhere?

Ivan stood over the crumpled remains of his old Datsun, his hands covered in grease and frustration. The car had been his pride and joy, a project that spanned months of late nights and endless searching for parts. But now, it sat in pieces, a shell of what it once was. The engine was partially finished, the transmission not done, and the tires were as flat as his hopes. He tried to talk the shop owner, desperate for help, but nobody really cared. Ping Pong was busy with his own projects, Tay Tay had his yoga classes, and Fat Tony... Tony was always too wrapped up in his own truck to notice the Datsun's plight. "Maybe next weekend," they’d say, but next weekend never came. As Ivan tried to reconnect the broken exhaust pipe, a passer by glanced over from the street. "That thing ever gonna run again?" he called out. Ivan shrugged, wiping his brow. "It will, eventually." The stranger just nodded and went back to walking down the street. The silence felt heavy. Ivan knew he was alone in this, but the Datsun was more than a car to him; it was a dream, a stubborn hope that one day, it would roar back to life leading him to the USA 🇺🇸
You have zero knowledge and experience in such an undertaking. This is not a one week project if completed properly, professionally, and safely. In my shop you would not be allowed to do any of the work. There are too many liabilities in case you get injured. Additionally, if you screw something up. It can not be held against the shop, yet as a customer, you would try to hold it against the shop. Plus, you would be in the way of the certified technicians assigned to the vehicle. Additionally, your vehicle is not the only vehicle in the shop. So work gets sorted by priority, availability of parts, numerous things. Plus, it must be done professionally and not just hacked together. Cost is all parts and labor (by the hour on the vehicle). You are under the impression that you can walk in and go to work and supervise and make your vehicle a priority. That's not how it works. Feel fortunate, many shops would drop the hoist push it off. Bill you for the work completed. Hold the vehicle and do no further work on it. Then, when you paid the bill [100 percent]. Hand you the keys and the vehicle and wish you well. You already have more into the vehicle than you're ever going to get back in return.
You should never have told them you were going away for a week! You should have just said I’ll be back in two days. They only seem to do stuff when you’re hanging around there. Once you’re not there they stop what they’re doing and start some other project.

I can tell you’ve never done that if you think all that can be done in a day or two that’s a years worth of work you’re squeezing into a month you’re gonna have a problem after problem after problem when it does get finished I promise
Dear Ivan, Watching this car being butchered by this garage is so BORING. We'd rather watch you eat a footlong hotdog. Fix your sunroof and take Evelina on the road to somewhere special. Ivan thanks for the update. You are doing a great job with these videos!
What a nice break from all the craziness in the world. Love to see this thing start up and burn some rubber!

Amazing work… so much work. Looking good.
Ivan, a month to do a V8 engine swap is actually pretty quick. I don't know why you originally thought it will only take two or so weeks.....
That’s what the owner of the shop promised me

Man, labor has to be dirt cheap there. It would be cheaper to buy a new corvette than have a car in shop daily for over a month over here in the US.
You will still need their people and tools. You will need to monitor closely to get work done. The work required takes a lot of skill and time.
That’s amazing work. Be $50,000 and a full year to do that in North America. Dont push your builders they are doing great.

I want you to rent a garage and do a full motor swap and all that and see how long it takes you by yourself please do that for your next theory please
