From my experience, projects like this take up to 6 months. Yours is not the only project they are working on, so they can't dedicate all of their resources to any one project. It is what it is, especially on such a custom job.
@@tomterrell1761 exactly. And all the cars that were in there before him with owners also wanting their cars done now too. They are probably too polite to say “this will take 6 months, you’re not first inline.” The more of a problem the owner is, the less desire they will have to work on it.
Ivan, do not take your car from that garage, they know what was done and what needs to be done and be patient. Projects like this take time and if you think you are the only one who has been in this situation, you are very wrong. And you need a shop with the proper tools to do all the necessary work. The interior sheet metal work is very challenging and unless you plan on putting aluminum foil for floorboards, you are kidding yourself. Leave the car there and let them finish the job.
Ivan, I wish these guys were around me. Great fabrication from what I've seen. Incredible amount of work done in a short time. Don't know the relationship story but it looks like you pissed these guys off. The heavy lifting is done, get your car and go somewhere else. I would first try to iron things out with these guys. Good luck dude.
If you are out of sight, you are not on the shop owners mind Ivan. It’s a fine line between pushing them and motivating. You have a great personality to motivate, and it is not a small project. Think of it as a new project, stating now, set achievable daily goals. I think you are over the half way point. It is really a unique modification and we all want to see you smiling on the first test drive.
@ yes, good point, leaning towards the advantages of UA-cam. UA-cam may not impact the business negatively, depending on his customer base , but could bring him new customers, in the spirit of keeping it positive. The owner would be sharp enough to think of the negative aspects on his own. Ivan is already thinking about an alternative approach if necessary to keep the project moving forward.
Ohh man, these guys are sloooow! Be patient, when done, pretty sure it will be so fun to drive this car that you will forget all that waiting! Maybe giving 1or 2 hundred USD to the dude in charge would get your car done quicker! I am willing to chip in 20 CAD next live. Take care!!!
The repairer is doing what he needs to do to keep all his customers happy, the remaining work on your Datsun requires experienced people, not boys.Ivan be patient!
Agree with some of the other comments, either pay the boss more to bump your car up to the front of the line or find another shop to finish the build and clean up some of the bolts that protrude from the frame. Either way be patient sir, this type of build takes a time and that’s if everything goes perfect but it rarely does. You don’t want to rush them though, that only results in mistakes and poor workmanship.
Better document all the different parts used for future reference if you need to exchange them. With a mod car or aka franken car the problem is find out the exchage part where they all come from and how to get them.
Yes this is important. Also to be able to inform any future garage what parts are installed, in order to find the correct replacement parts. Starts with the brake pads 😂
Ivan stood over the crumpled remains of his old Datsun, his hands covered in grease and frustration. The car had been his pride and joy, a project that spanned months of late nights and endless searching for parts. But now, it sat in pieces, a shell of what it once was. The engine was partially finished, the transmission not done, and the tires were as flat as his hopes. He tried to talk the shop owner, desperate for help, but nobody really cared. Ping Pong was busy with his own projects, Tay Tay had his yoga classes, and Fat Tony... Tony was always too wrapped up in his own truck to notice the Datsun's plight. "Maybe next weekend," they’d say, but next weekend never came. As Ivan tried to reconnect the broken exhaust pipe, a passer by glanced over from the street. "That thing ever gonna run again?" he called out. Ivan shrugged, wiping his brow. "It will, eventually." The stranger just nodded and went back to walking down the street. The silence felt heavy. Ivan knew he was alone in this, but the Datsun was more than a car to him; it was a dream, a stubborn hope that one day, it would roar back to life leading him to the USA 🇺🇸
Ivan, you shouldn’t have talked so badly about the garage in the video. That will not motivate the guys. Don’t make them mad, it won’t end well. Maybe offer a bonus for finishing the car. In my experience, when I rush someone on a job I get shoddy work. I have a name for the Datsun….”Money Pit.” 😢
Hey Ivan projects like this takes time the work that has been done seems fairly good quality it’s a design & construct not cut & shut I can see a whole lot of other projects on the go so be patient my friend! It’s looking good!!
Ivan, That is called "A Sway Bar" in the front. And, why the hell do you have four lug wheels in the front, and five lug wheels in the back ? The "Front" is where you need the stopping power !
Sorry Ivan, but you sound really entitled, almost saying that these people are bad and taking way too long. People who don't work with their hands cannot estimate how massive of a job is doing such engine swap. Please be patient!

HEY IVAN, seems you are stuck in "THAI-TIME" Maybe a good title for your next vid!! Enjoyed much your Phil. vids.! BRAVE EVALINA with the sharks, giant turtle awesome.
Time ordering parts.... Yes! It take a looooong time... Moden workshops and malnufacturing... Located in foregn countries, with 'Just in time' production, does not help either... Sure...there just in time...a month from now, but it doesn't help whilst building....😮 ( Sweden )
Maybe put this V8 in Tucker Carlson shopping car. He is doing some Russian propaganda shopping for christmas. Nice car Ivan, hope you have some fun with it. Peace
Cool car, surprised to see all those american cars in the shop. If you move to the states are you going to take the car with you ? Hopefully those guys aren't charging you by the hour because they are probably padding their time.
This is Thailand. Next time, pay The big boss little bit xtra,, who then takes care workers actually do something. They really hate you buzzin there with The camera and as a cheap charlie, and this is their way to show it.
1979 the year Disco died. I think you should call the hot rod Datsun the Disco Datsun Ivan.😂 Ivan going to bring back 1979 with muscles💪. You should trick it out with Disco balls and 1970's style shag carpeting. You will be the envy of Thailand Ivan.😂I kid Ivan I kid. P.S. On a serious note Ivan. It will get done. Be patient.
Guys getting whole rebuild done with custom all sorts and complains the time limits not fast enough I know people took 20 years to build something like this Ivan you are dilarious the real world doesn’t work like that also you should thank them they have done you proud your not Richard Rawlings and that’s not gas monkey garage
Give you have gone this far with the Datsun. The final touch needed is the stock motor needs a bit more grunt. That Datsun V8 motor needs a bit more boogie.
Here's my bet: When you return you will find that the car has actually gone backward. Things that were attached will have been taken off. Things that have been taken off are now missing. Things that were supposed to arrive didn't. Things that did arrive are wrong. Bet Placed.
All those bolts sticking down shouldn't be. You are going to dethatch the highway. You are going to rip out your skull. The brake line is way too close to the exhaust. >.< One exhaust pipe hangs lower than the other like my nuts. Hold on to that wheel spacer.
I don't understand why you throw away so much money on a Datsun-79? When it's clear it be the toughest Datsun in Asia but you never have the money back!😮
Rubber fittings on a Hot Exhaust Pipe?? Get Real Ivan.... Disaster Car will break the Bank, then fall to pieces. Keep up your unfailing Optimisim. Thanks!!
I don’t like to see already in the title that it didn’t go well before I watch the video. Anyway, I wonder if it would have been better if you had asked another garage to start working on it. But it would be a pain to move it. It’s like you say, they don’t really care about your project the guys at that garage. You can see it in the videos.
The death and destruction of a beautiful old Datsun. From being in money trouble to wasting a lot of money on this. Hope you prove me wrong but I own my own classic cars and mine go up in value not down as they are all original. I have mags and better exhausts put on but I have the original wheels 🛞 and anything I change.
Dear Ivan, Watching this car being butchered by this garage is so BORING. We'd rather watch you eat a footlong hotdog. Fix your sunroof and take Evelina on the road to somewhere special. Getting news the garage did nothing on your jalopy is BORING. Shift gears and show us around your neighborhood. You can always give us a 5 minute update. Keep us engaged and we'll always have your back. ❤😂
Yup, nothing has changed with Ivan. He's still "Clueless" as what it's like to build a custom car with God knows what parts adapted to it...PS- what do you expect from a silver spoon fed grandson of a Russian Oligarch.
You ll be older than Putin before it’s finished. Welcome to the world of car restoration. There are companies that will turn key in 6-12 months . You might buy a new Corvette cheaper.
Ivan.... sell it!! You have more important to do like visa usa Cars youtube big market but how many exist already How about classics? Ivan you know nothing about cars nor do the people you've hired to work on this car. This poor car has been destroyed,it will never run or drive again. sorry
From my experience, projects like this take up to 6 months. Yours is not the only project they are working on, so they can't dedicate all of their resources to any one project. It is what it is, especially on such a custom job.
And don't piss off the builder

Yeah when I came there I paid for “it will be done in 15 days” now it’s 60 days. You see the difference?
@@SanctionedDrive exactly... you have to babysit them. OR 60days will turn to half a year!
And then you must registration this car!
Thailand LOVE PAPERWORK i promise you.
I am not a car guy but I am loving this series.
I’m glad you enjoy them!
Ivan thanks for the update. You are doing a great job with these videos!
Give a bonus for the important project you want done first. A double bonus for engine running. By double checking the work is smart move. Great video!
Who else was impatiently waiting for this video 😂
I said big modifications big work😮😂😂
i have
i wanna see thsi car done
Just seen his live channel today and he said a video had dropped - no

Honestly though, so far projects doing great. Once it's done you'll be smiling ear to ear! Give them a nice bonus, they'll get it done!
All good thing's come to those who wait. It will be awesome when it's all finished Ivan! Thanks for the update!❤

Amazing work… so much work. Looking good.
What a nice break from all the craziness in the world. Love to see this thing start up and burn some rubber!
Not much to go, keep smiling, do a list with them you are almost there!!!

It will be a little beast when you are finished

The slowness is pretty typical with most shops I've ever used. So frustrating.
I feel your pain, Flippin Legend 😮

Man, labor has to be dirt cheap there. It would be cheaper to buy a new corvette than have a car in shop daily for over a month over here in the US.
The best video
Please upload a video with American cars such as Tesla, Chevrolet, Ford, Cadillac etc etc
This turned out to be Ivan’s Special Car Operation. I hope when it’s done it’s worth it.

Ivan, a month to do a V8 engine swap is actually pretty quick. I don't know why you originally thought it will only take two or so weeks.....
That’s what the owner of the shop promised me
Crazy but interesting. 🤔😂
Greetings from East Tennessee 🤠
Welcome to Thailand I say regarding the speed of work 😅
😮waiting , waiting , waiting .😮
Looking like it's going to end up being a straight-line racer.

Ivan,
I often wonder if would have been easier to get something like a 1970 some Camaro body and drop in a LS engine and electronic transmission.
Better offer a bonus for completing it
❤
Ivan, That is called "A Sway Bar" in the front. And, why the hell do you have four lug wheels in the front, and five lug wheels in the back ? The "Front" is where you need the stopping power !

I told you hella modifications😮
That’s amazing work. Be $50,000 and a full year to do that in North America. Dont push your builders they are doing great.
Ivan, you should have just left the SR20 engine in - went forced induction and called it a day. Cool little car though 👍

How much is this project costing? I'm guessing they gave you a pretty good deal. In the states this would cost more than the original car....

Maybe put this V8 in Tucker Carlson shopping car. He is doing some Russian propaganda shopping for christmas. Nice car Ivan, hope you have some fun with it. Peace
Car's gotta move, dude. Hoping for awesomely good karma! Greetings to Evelina! Take care!
With components from so many different vehicles (Nissan engine, Mercedes rear brakes. etc.) wont this be a nightmare to maintain and repair?
Cool car, surprised to see all those american cars in the shop. If you move to the states are you going to take the car with you ? Hopefully those guys aren't charging you by the hour because they are probably padding their time.

Hey Ivan
