Ya he tried to get out of more work, but they figured it out...he ended up being Naurto's assistant...probably the hardest job he could get. Even Temari figured it out...put him to work also lol

As good as Naruto and Hinata are together, I think these two feel like their relationship is more credible. Hinata's background kind of clashes with her shy personality. She's a freakin princess, comes from a rich family, and she goes from cute to knockout to yummy mommy over the course of the series. You'd think she'd have a little more confidence.

Going to disagree with you about Hinata. In all of the scenes detailing her day to day life with her family, Hinata gets mentally abused fairly regularly, destroying her confidence. It's not until she meets Naruto that she sees what confidence even looks like given he's in the same situation she was in. That being, Naruto didn't have a lot of innate talent yet he stayed positive that he was going to be Hokage. That's what helped Hinata try to work harder, despite the occasional setback.

which is why I feel like this is better than Shippuden. When Itachi busted his out during his fight with Sasuke I was like, "Bruh GTFOH." Sasuke said pretty much the same thing haha. I was super impressed with Sasuke's strategy in that fight and then they just had to go and ruin it.
I find it interesting that most people overlooked the Third's explanation of this tournament. Winning got you more chances to showcase your talent. Shikimaru didn't need more than this one public fight to do that. No one can argue that this one fight didn't show that 1) He was a genius and 2) he could beat a more powerful ninja with his one jutsu. What more could he have shown anybody?

The greatest quality of a leader is not only being an elite strategist, but being able to understand when to cut your losses and retreat when the situation isn't favorable. While most kids would only care about looking good, being strong, and trying to perservere, the elders recognize that it takes a true leader to make a the right call for everyone's sake. That's why Shikamaru graduated even though he lost.

Just simple hiding in shadows, using kunai, strategize and taking the opponent quietly. That was the best fight in OG Naruto in my opinion. Really great idea and execution by author.

Kishimoto dropped the ball with this franchise not gonna lie. Showcasing Shinobi of various kinds using their talents in specific ways would have been way more interesting then turning it into Dragon Ball Z with pajamas. Not saying every fight has to be Shikamaru vs Temari but he's created so many interesting characters and abilities it's a shame what it streamlined into.

One of my favorite episodes. When I watch this and other leaf village shinobi its really wild how they were molding some of the most smart and powerful shinobi. The leaf really had extraordinary talent
Worse than being beaten by him is being beaten by him and then him letting her "win" anyway, robbing her completely of the satisfaction of victory.
I believe that Shikamaru should have been Hokage realistically. Don't get me wrong he isn't the strongest by a long shot but he is insanely clever, honorable and knows when to and not to fight. He really is a ninjas ninja. In a different series I honestly think he should have been the main character with Naruto and co as support. He is like a more mature nicer less crazy version of Lelouche

Considering how versatile shadows can be if you watch other animes, he could theoretically create more powerful techniques but he relies more on brain then direct attacks.
This made him one of the favourite characters of this anime ❤️

Shikamaru actually put effort and strategy into this. All Shikadai did was trap Boruto in his shadow and then gave up when more clones came. If quiting helps you climb up the rank then no wonder the leaf village is screwed.
Quitting after showing his capabilities is what got him rise up in the rank. Leader isn’t a quitter but knows when to cut your losses
Don't forget most of them go out in a 3 man squad so if he caught you then the other 2 sweep up
