Wonderful video! You know how much I love any videos that cover the Great War Against Chaos! :D The only way this video could be improved upon would be a lovely retelling of the duel between Balthasar Gelt and Thyrus Gormann who was the previous Supreme Patriarch and from the Bright Order. Then again... I'm sure there's always room for a more specific lore video in regards to that. I can tell from all of the Harry Potter references people really seem to love the idea of gaining more insight in the Colleges of Magic and covering that duel would offer some insight into how that mysterious institute operate.

I’ve been playing a Bright wizard in a Warhammer Fantasy roleplay campaign. He’s pretty levelheaded for one who lets the winds of Aqshy flow through him, and that’s probably why he was able to get his Magic License earlier than most of his peers in the Bright Orders apprentices. At least that’s how I am roleplaying a bright wizard with the “pure soul” trait. This trait makes it harder for the corrupting power of chaos to affect those with it. A bright wizard who is relatively levelheaded would be much harder to corrupt. My character has seen 3 things that would’ve gave anyone without the trait a good chance of getting a corruption point: first two ones were coming across corpses brutalized by what we have Recently learned might be a couple Worshippers of Khorne. Third time I found their little ritual hideout and came into contact with a Demon. Was able to ignore it and then proceeded to go to the Guard barracks and speak to the lieutenant our party was working with to send out word for a witch hunter
Excellent video :) Is there any mention of the Dwarfs response to the founding of the Impirial Colleges? Surely they opposed it given their distrust of magic and elves, especially after establishing a unique relationship with the Empire. Second - what are the Bretonnian lores of magic? Are they the same as in the Empire?
magic in Warhammer is one of the things that has pulled me deeper and deeper into the setting especially the wiki entry on "battle magic" which seems to be in a really grey area in terms of being cannon (which is to say it probably isn't), but for what ever reason, its reason for existence, and its mostly "underhanded" list of spells that seem like they would work perfectly on an adventuring party scale rather than an army scale, are something that make me want to make a mage in a Warhammer RPG.
@Truename586 elementalism is neat, like really neat. if I had found the home brew/ the fan made books I have now for the 4e warhammer rpg, the non collage wizard in the party would likely have been an elementalist it would have saved me alot of work. I ended up remaking battle magic only I changed the lore behind it to being one of the human magics that ended up being pushed to the wayside when the collages were established like what happened with elementalism
This actually makes me think about the Mages of Kislev since the only ones that really seem to be prevalent (in the Gotrek and Felix novels) seem to be Ice Witches like the Tzarina Katarin and maybe that high priest dude of Kislev who wants o start burning people at the stake for having magic, I think he has flame magic or just carries around a fiery looking staff. That guy is also obsessed with Katarin's father Boris who left the throne to her, like yeah she might not be ruling their empire the way that guy likes it. But he must've been snorting warpstone dust like a Skaven Greyseer. My wonder is, if the Kislevites also have mages who can summon animal spirits and living animals to aid them in battle? Or does just about everyone besides Ice Mages? 🤔

Anyone else think of Lords of Magic when they see this video?
Muy bien echo. 🤭
Gracias Perseus!
Do you go insane if you practice a magic outside of the one you chose? Also are you born with a certain affinity for the different schools or is it completely your choice?
That or you become possessed by a daemon. Or just explode
@@Lightscribe225 So if I’m understanding it correctly you choose a type of magic and if you practice magic outside of that school you turn into a daemon, go insane, or explode.
@@rexboi2311 I think so. Only thing I don't remember is if you get to choose or if your tested for your affinity when chosen. Been a while since U read the fluff
@@Lightscribe225 Thank you and I was wondering is there a book or something I can read to find the lore info on total war. And if so is it all accurate?
@@rexboi2311 It's either from the player's rulebook for 9th edition of WHFB tabletop or the armybook for the Empire. They put in a lengthy backstory for near every unit you can field
No mention of Van Horstmann? :(
