@@JakeFine love your playing but the clickbait titles have got to go mate..."doNt MisS tHe EnDiNg" or "reAlLy PiCkS uP iN tHe MidDlE" come on what are you, a buzzfeed article?
Just found your music on Instagram. Sounds great! I’m definitely in need of neo soul playing skills. I appreciate the fret by fret callouts. I’m gonna try this one!
This is by far one of the best guitar tutorials I’ve come across on UA-cam, super clear with all directions - nicely done dude! So many videos cut corners and don’t explain what finger goes where or any harmonic analysis in the slightest, subscribed a couple minutes into the video!
I've been wanting to learn this beautiful arrangement of yours and I hope i can learn XD. Thank you. Okay, edit after watching it all. Everything is easy to understand the way you explain things are not messy and not all over the place, you immediately went into the tutorial not those who talk for 5 minutes and then the tutorial. You broke everything down so that I can learn the sound and the style of your playing, camera and voice is clear, everything is chill and effort was put. This tutorial is perfect for those learning the genre and as a great ear training, I hope you can make more of these. Stay safe せんせい。
@@JakeFine self taught beginner here too. the G major shape in the beginning 2:11 , is the string slighty muted on that down strum? I don't know if its my tone, or pickups, but I cant get my guitar to make that sound. Its really frustrating bcuz its the first part of the piece lol.
I've spent about 2 and a half hours on this. I can do it at about 20bpm so far! haha. | Thank you so much for this thorough tutorial/breakdown. It's amazing to have someone like you making quality content that allows to other learn the ways of Neo Soul.
Thank you for uploading this. I had figured out the first 2 sections, before thinking I’ll come back to it later. Lo’ and behold you’ve kindly uploaded a tutorial 😃 - we may be able to imitate, but never duplicate. You’re an amazingly talented musician. Any chance we can get a tutorial on Neo soul craziness (this one takes off in the middle)? 😁
BRO I just saw your "I wish everyday felt like this" video in your story, went to the comments, found a comment about Neo Soul, bam.. here I am. Even though it's not Neo Soul. Amazing video man. I'm subscribed.
Please tell me what guitar do you play here? It sound amazing, im gonna buy my first but i dont know what would be good for that kind of neo soul /rnb, and under 200$
Hey, I have this problem, I am really into music, specifically music that has been "altered" or covered. yes I like covers and arrangements moreso than the original songs. if I were to choose between an original game music or a epic remixed version, I would much prefer the epic remixed version any day any time. I don't like neo soul but I like neo soul. I don't like what it sound like in albums but I like what they sound like in instagram if you know what i mean :1 I like how you said that it comes from many influences and it's not classical neo soul, but fresh modern jazz fusion guitar(go figure) [seriously don't like fusion, modern rock jazz alone but i like it as a style fused together] now I've been watching and enjoying these solos and guitar compilations of neo soul, rock blues etc and I picked up a guitar finally and I really want to be able to play it and solo on it and arrange on it.but how do I learn all the vocabulary and licks and riffs and how to arrange this way? so I don't know I already mentioned that I don't like genres in it's purest form but you said that it's come from many different influences like fusion, modern, rock, jazz. I guess the question is how would you say im meant to learn the vocabulary? I'm also learning to transcribe from ear, I've already transcribed arpeggio madness halfway(it's hArD) so if you recommend me to learn vocabulary organically could you share me some of the music you think really helped you developed these kinda styles? I don't mind a large variety.
i’m not very good at guitar in general but i really want to learn neo soul guitar music because that’s the kind of music i want to make. should i take normal guitar lessons first so i can master normal guitar
hey Jake, I really want to take learning neosoul very seriously, i've been watching your videos & i'll really appreciate you recommending some books to go with. thanks
anyone have any tips on practicing those fast slides that, everytime im tryna learn something that has it i just cant seem to do it right the on at 3:52 to be exact, i just fret out, or cant be able to do it as fast making it sound weird and not as smooth
honestly no! I like the voicings that standard brings to the table, and there are already 4 strings tuned to P4 which I think is enough to establish patterns on the neck!
@@JakeFine Wasn't expecting a quick reply, I play typical RnB and gospel... in short I tried P4 for a week and it only made me appreciate the standard tuning even more, hammer ons, 4, 5 note voicings were so hard I guess it's just not meant for Neo soul/Rnb. But your reply did give a nod for my decision to stick to standard. Highly appreciate your work mate. Thanks
What’s crazy is that your video on TikTok inspired me to look up neo soul guitar chords and it lead me right back to this video🤙🏾🙏🏾
Man I love that!! Algorithm and hashtags are working 😂🙌
A video about your thought process while making a song could be really interesting. Or you could livestream while making a song.
Great idea!! About instrumental writing, or full songs with lyrics?
@@JakeFine i prefer instrumental writing, but both definitely deserve their own videos someday.
Totally 🙌
I second this
you’ve been puttin in crazy work dude we appreciate it💪🏼

Which amp are you using? Wondering how to get a tone like this
Do you think about the key you’re in when harmonising the melody?

How can I write my own pieces in neo soul
👍🏻
thanks for this! I'm practicing the lick with a metronome at the end. Should I do it in triplets or 16ths?
It’s triplets if I remember correctly!
Srv in the end solo ;)
What about the shred?????
Lolll all in good time
u should name ur song 😁
Lolll yea it needs a better name but I’m super tired of naming pieces and have no ideas 😂
