One underrated thing about the Cartoon City bumpers is that the leitmotif you hear throughout them uses instruments from the themes of the shows of whoever is on screen. It's very easy to notice with the Foster's Home bumpers.
I'm gonna have to pay extra attention to the music. Good catch.
It's very easy to notice with HiHi Puffy amiyumi, which is literally just a royalty free version of the theme song.
The odd exceptions were the Ed, Edd n Eddy bumpers. The music kinda slaps in those, even if it doesn't match the show at all.

When I was a kid I tried putting these in chronological order in one long video based on both when it’s visibly day and night in the city and when it was around a certain holiday like Halloween or Christmas.

They really turned CN city into a TV show, but with "cartoon character rejects" as the residents
If I remember right the original concept was Elmor to be a town inhabited by commercial characters which is why everyone was in so many different art and animation styles. But they dropped the meta part of the concept and just went with “a town full of people with different art and animation styles”

God, that one bumper were Tom is in the oven and he just goes limp is so unnerving.
Yeah the twitching and going limp.
No music or lead in into that particular bumper offers no levity so it comes off as jarring and disturbing.
I still can't believe an insane mind made Johnny Bravo and Samurai Jack a thing over that laundry bumper, and then to top it off it was an artistic mind that could actually bring their ideas to reality.
Suffice to say, I ship Samurai Bravo now

I was the lead on these at Animal Logic. It's amazing the love these still get. There is so much behind the scenes stuff I could tell you, but I'm happy to point you to the HD collection.

@@dr.ham101 HBO Max merged with Discovery so Discovery thought it would be a good idea to execute half of the CN line-up including Infinity Train, Summer Camp Island, Close Enough, and much more
They’re also canceling already in production shows so they’ll never see the light of day and while all of this is going on CN is trying to fight back against what Discovery is doing

the live action sections are so surreal as someone who grew up in Atlanta, like I know EXACTLY where those guys were running through. The studio in Atl is responsible for most if not all the marketing and product art for these shows, but the shows themselves are handled in California. When I took a tour there, the guy who talked with us said these ads were his favorite. :)
I'm so surprised no one has made Analog horror based off these Bumpers.

Funny enough the past few weeks I been watching old Cartoon network promos and bumbers and this is just the cherry on top of the nostalgia Sunday hope you guys do more Maybe on the checkerboard area or adult swim bumpers as well?
Fr, Latin American CN is the best because they have to fill in 24/7 cartoons, so they’re open to being more fun. Latin American Cartoon Network had “Una Semana En Cartoon”, which was basically similar to this style of show! It’s kinda hard to explain in text, but it was very fun. There was also a straight up Regular Show Let’sPlay series where the played REAL games?! They played Ori And the Will of the Wisps, FNAF SL, and other stuff! I’m pretty sure Latin America CN was the sole reason for some cartoons getting to survive and flourish, the biggest example being Villainous!
Some of the bumpers (especially the friday fridays ones) never came to the UK, so I used to watch them on the american cartoon network site (back when IP forwarding wasn't a thing and you could look at any of their sites regardless of where you lived). It was like a whole other world over there!
They even had this account thing where you could collect stickers for your profile or trading cards of characters to use in a cardgame. I even had the complete BeastBoy Shamrock set before it ended.
In the UK? We didn't even see such a thing. I miss those days. They even had the dragonball z burger king toys as stickers animated like gifs and I envyed those people ^^
Seeing the superhero action figure bumpers late at night I swear is one of my earliest foundational memories

Bruh holy shit, these brought back memories, I remember seeing these on the TV, as I would get so excited when it would be Friday, going home from school and being a fucking couch potato. God the memories of being a kid again come back to me. Ohhh how I miss the 2000’s even though I was born in 2001 but got to experience so much cool stuff and things.

I believe for those commercials where the cartoons interact with real people, they get a cardboard cutout of the character on set and it's used as a placeholder for the animators
