Many thanks for a great vid! Actually those fall landscapes in PA looked a lot like what I’ve been enjoying during my gravel rides here on the west coast of Finland this summer and fall. And yes, I agree; these sceneries are a big part of the reason we ride gravel bikes!
Awesome video! I was there & did the same route as you. I kept looking for myself in your video... Ha Ha! You should consider the Keystone Gravel event next year. It was incredible as well...
So glad you enjoyed it! Great job getting through that ride. I think we can be proud of every dirt stain following that one. Hopefully I’ll capture you in a next video!😁 Keystone is certainly on my radar and others have also recommended this event. I’ll have to come check it out.
Fantastic job, you captured it so well. What a great ride it was. Your video may be just what I need to get through the upcoming dark Winter months. I can't wait to do it again.
Thank you so much for putting this video together. You captured the essence of this ride. I loved the rain and mud. It added so much to the adventure of the day. Good Job.
So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so for the kind feedback. For sure, the lighting created by the rain and fog, with the vibrate colors of the changing leaves was simply spectacular! What a day.
Thank you so much for this comment! It really does take a lot of work to put these videos together and I’m always thankful when others see and appreciate this work.
Thanks for the feedback on the video! Yeah I also really like that vest. It’s served me well - very versatile. I might even get a few more for this coming winter.
Lekker man! Welcome to the channel and thanks for subscribing! Love all the restoration videos on your channel. I've been watching a few of RJ's videos lately and I like that you use some of his techniques.
Yup, RJ is somewhat of a UA-cam legend, he’s put out some extremely useful videos that have saved my bacon on a few occasions, as too BikeIT and Old Shovel 👌🏼👍🏼
Thanks for watching and great job getting through that ride (and even adding on more mileage)! Yeah my bag required some serious washing after that one, but I’m surprised at how well it held up. Everything inside was still clean.
We ride here every year a half year with fenders and it is not a shame 😁. Especially on leasure gravel events I wonder why there are so few people riding with fenders in wet and dirty conditions. I know its not so cool and the bike does not look so cool eather but I ride here (northern Germany) with full fenders for a long period because I do not like my pants feeling like diapers soaked with mud 😛. Cool Event. Cool Video! Thanks for that.
Awesome job! on both the video and ride. I was able to pull off a finish on the 125 - it tried to break both me and the bike but between the two of us we hung in there and finished in the dark.
Thanks so much! This is what makes an event like this so great; all the stories that can be told afterwards of how riders persevered to finish. Well done. Keep up the good work with the podcast!
I think that comes down to the route that you follow. I did the 95-mile route and it didn't contain too many technical sections. I chatted with riders who completed the 125-mile route and they noted that the additional part of the course, known as "The Difference", had loads of rough sections. Based on that, I'd say that a wider tire is required for the full distance, while a narrower tire is just fine for the shorter distances.
I learned my lesson after UnPaved and for my next rainy race (ua-cam.com/video/zCponMu3Cgs/v-deo.html) I made sure to fit some fenders. I agree, fenders are some of the most underrated cycling accessories.
Pretty scenery but, if you want to play in some Real mountains, go west young man (the Sierra Nevada range). You'll learn the true meaning of leg/lung burning climbs at 6000' to 9000' above sea level. KOM has a new significance and dominance factor if you can shread these climbs on or off-road. One small thing, throw in some single-track and add some spice to those gravel-rides (!); pure fire-road only so fun...
Love your videos, Wiehan. You are a breath of fresh air. Best to you and Christin
Fun, fun and fun. Great video, thnaks!

Thank you for the excellent video, you are a great host, I look forward to doing this ride in the future.
Great video! I did the 95 mile ride 2 years ago. Couldn't make it this year so I appreciate you taking us along for the ride. Great production.
Thanks so much for the feedback! So glad I could give you a taste of this very eventful day.
Great job! Great video!
Great video production! Thanks for capturing the essence of the ride - I was there and it was exactly as you pictured - beautiful and muddy…
9:52 ❤ I grew up in PA and this part really hits me close to home. What a beautiful state.
I thought it was going to be a giant pot hole 😂
Freaking awesome vid!!! Gets the juices flowing! Well done! Now to catch up on your vids!
My bucket list ride
Autumn is just the right season for epic gravel riding!
I love this guys voice....like a cross between Arnie and Kermit the frog
Awesome video! I was there & did the same route as you. I kept looking for myself in your video... Ha Ha! You should consider the Keystone Gravel event next year. It was incredible as well...

Breathtaking route! 😍
Thanks. Great event
Love your enthusiasm man, and hi from UK, we have beautiful places too, and yeah, sometimes you just stop and wanna take it in... subbed
Fantastic job, you captured it so well. What a great ride it was. Your video may be just what I need to get through the upcoming dark Winter months. I can't wait to do it again.
Thank you! It’s comments like this that motivates me to get out there and make more videos.

I really enjoy your vids. The editing is awesome. A lot of hard work getting/ making and editing the footage.
Thank you so much for this comment! It really does take a lot of work to put these videos together and I’m always thankful when others see and appreciate this work.
I have that same wind vest, but in orange. I really like it. Cheers mate, great vid per usual.
Thanks for the feedback on the video! Yeah I also really like that vest. It’s served me well - very versatile. I might even get a few more for this coming winter.
Congrats another awesome adventure. I think this is one of my favorites of yours! May you have a great weekend, god bless
The conditions surely made this one very adventurous indeed. Thanks for the continued support, very much appreciated.
Great job. Well done. Love the video
Great job 👏
Damn what a beautiful ride 🤩
With a bang.
Whatever way you say it, it was still a banging good ride!
Awesome video :)
Great vid and nice to see another South African doing his thing on UA-cam 🙌🏼 Subscribed 👍🏼

I have the same bar bag, also did the 95 (made it 100) and mine looked the same at the end. Nice coverage of the ride! Fun to see video of it.
Thanks for watching and great job getting through that ride (and even adding on more mileage)! Yeah my bag required some serious washing after that one, but I’m surprised at how well it held up. Everything inside was still clean.
Awesome vid mate
Amazing job of managing that camera in those conditions. Be safe!!
Thanks! Yes, keeping the lens clean was one of the biggest challenges.
Such a great day on the bike this year at this event! As mentioned below, hit of Keystone Gravel as it is an awesome adventure!
Keystone is on my radar for sure. Let’s see, hopefully 2022 can be the year for it.

Smart choice! Saves lots of time with bike washing too. Thanks for watching.
That’s my Pennsylvania!!

@@MountainRoadRide We would love to have you on the podcast sometime. Let me know if this would interest you.
That sounds great! I’d love to be a guest on the podcast.
What tires and wheels for you use for this ride?
I'm from around that area originally
It's beautiful wet or dry
Is that a genuine South African accent there? So good to hear!
That is indeed a genuine SA accent that you hear! Happy that you found the Mountain Road Ride channel.
Nice job! I put together my experience for this dayl on my channel. I did a shorter ride, but had an amazing time as well! (subbed)
Thanks for following along with my ride! I’m curious to see what the somePAved routes looked like - I’ll check it out.
@@MountainRoadRide that'd be awesome! Trying to get into the gravel scene.
Gutes hochladen 👍🔔✅✅
No mud guards! Dam
Great documentation on the ride! May I ask what tire width you used? Thank you.
Thanks! Yeah I was riding 700x35C tires. You can find my full review of this tire on our blog: mountain-road.com/blog/pirelli-cinturato-700x35c-review
@@MountainRoadRide If you were to do this again, you will still use 700x35c?
I think that comes down to the route that you follow. I did the 95-mile route and it didn't contain too many technical sections. Great video! You should check out Mammoth Endurance Gravel 🤘
What, you aren t going to do the Mountaineer?
I know, I’m sad to miss Mountaineer this year but there is something really exciting in the pipeline happening that weekend. Stay tuned!
What tire did you use for the event?
It’s the Pirelli Cinturato Gravel M 700x35C. You can see my full review of this tire here: mountain-road.com/blog/pirelli-cinturato-700x35c-review
