Both reasons are correct. Expressing with the face helps with her body movements (she’s completely immersing herself) and also the animators will likely be referencing the footage in addition to using the data she’s providing.
Probably more difficult *not* to match facial expressions when acting with your body. It's doable, but weirdly difficult to make your body and face mismatch when acting.
@@me31323 They're not. I saw them on 3 different accounts. Finding her wasn't easy. When I searched, "motion capture actress" along with the characters I've seen Sakana do, American actresses and Haruka Shibai came up.
This is her real account but overseas market doesn't appear to be her focus at the moment apart from just posting on YT and TikTok. She only interacts with fans in China on Bilibili.
@@me31323 Oooh I see, it can be a serious amount of work to manage all theses social medias, cause China have their own app for every single app here. Well, that's still a good thing and I'm happy that's her official account here. Thanks a lot !
@@count23all she is known as 曦曦鱼(Xixiyu) in China but Sakana is also her name. Her studio is called Big Eyes Technology 大眼怪. It's one of the top studios in China and IIRC they have a team of 9 MoCap actors.

Instead of motion capture, using her entire image as AI reference for conversion would be even better. Everything including her facial acting would be converted instead of just a few points of reference. Still frames can already be done, and video conversion is in the works.
Which is exactly why she should legally protect her art and performance against usage in any ai-learning data. Otherwise her unique style will become the generic one.
After careful study of two whole videos you created, I have come to the conclusion that it is absolutely necessary for us to get married. What icing would you like to have on our wedding cake? 😂😂😂❤❤❤
Her movements are too robotic and controlled. Real people don't move like that. It's pretty unrealistic. Just because you're acting for a bunch of animated characters, doesn't mean you have to literally move like a robot. What's the point of motion capture if you're going to move like regular programmed/animated characters anyway?
Easy answer, EXPRESSIVENESS. Tldr; If you’re gonna do motion capture for any model, depending on how detailed the model is, in this case Identity V character which are HEAVILY STYLIZED. Simply put, she exaggerates her movements and poses so it translates better into the characters movement. Being subtle and realistic doesn’t always work and if fact, CAN and WILL look bad if you use it in the wrong scenario. Unless you’re doing motion capture for a realistic model, there’s no point in being subtle and acting realistic since it won’t look good in games (Which is what Identity V is)
Also note, motion capture is also cheaper compared to animation which takes extensive time to rig and move the character model. But most cases, a mix of both using motion capture along side cleaning up the movements with an animator is more common. Not only that, her acting and movements are very VERY skilled and takes a hell lot more effort than you’d think. Her movements and acting in general is cartoon-ish but heavily looks realistic in a stylistic or animated setting. Finding the balance of that to seem natural takes way more experience than you’d think.
Pretty impressive how expressive she is for facial animations even when it isn't accounted for.
I guess it’s so she immerses herself more? Idk, probably makes it easier for her to do the movements.
I'm sure devs and artists take into account the face of the mocap actors too.
Both reasons are correct. Expressing with the face helps with her body movements (she’s completely immersing herself) and also the animators will likely be referencing the footage in addition to using the data she’s providing.
Voice actors do this as well. The realism adds to the overall vibe. You have to make it real for you.
Probably more difficult *not* to match facial expressions when acting with your body. It's doable, but weirdly difficult to make your body and face mismatch when acting.
I see her videos being passed around quite a bit and not by her accounts. Hopefully she still gets the recognition that helps her get the recognition.
I hope people gives her credit when they repost her content, but nowadays a lot of UA-camrs have no shame stealing others' content. Sign of the time.
