Hi thanks for your question. I will answer totally honestly. Would we go back to a milking parlour? NO never! Robots are just part of the whole thing. Robotic milking has to start with the cow. In other words the farm needs to think of the cows first and give her everything she wants. It also depends on how your farm is setup too. For cows and robots to work together effectively the cows need space with no corners so they can feel trapped if other cows bully her. They need as much comfort as possible. Old steal stalls are not ideal. There beds need to be soft and attractive too. If a cow bangs here self every time she gets up she will tend not to bother getting up to be milked. I hope you can see what I’m trying to explain.
Going back to your question. What do I think about robots milking cows? They work fantastic and amaze and impress us every day. BUT to make it work everything ells has to be perfect for the cow and then it all falls into place. It doesn’t matter if you have a red, blue or green robot. Build it around the cow. Richard.
