Hi. Installed and working!
Inspired by your diagram I created a custom adapter with female headers to connect directly to the board on one side, headers for both the two servo cables and the 10 pin cable on the other side and a cable with a 3 pin JST adapter to connect to the Z end connector on the board. Thanks for the video!
Great Idea. Will you post it on Thingiverse or Hackser.io / Hackaday?
Sebastian, I would really love to show it to our viewers. Would you mind to share the plan or would you like to present it on my channel? We could do a Skype stream and then put it here to show how you've done it.
Thank you Daniel, I was under the impression that this sensor uses 5VDC instead of 12VDC, my version of the sensor (same brand) came with most of the parts you used, except the mainboard plug and breadboard, but it came with a resistor, an no instructions LOL.
The sensor works with the 5v from the board.
I am about to endevor the installation of the 3d touch. You are the best Daniel 😘
Thanks!
Fantastic video mate but do you or does anyone else know if it’s the same for the anet A8 plus???
really enjoyed the video. cheers
Thanks! Very much appreciated!
The links for 100cm servo extension need reviewing. One is out of stock. The amazon link in the uk goes to a 240v extension cable.
If you are using the sensor only through say octoprint or klipper do you need to splice the video cable?
Hi Daniel, great video, thanks! I've noticed you have two ribbon cables plugged in to your motherboard. Could you explain what the extra one is for please?
What the difference between you way of connecting the sensor (by the screen wire) and other ways?
So is the wire coming from the motherboard used for anything? Can i just leave it un-connected from the display?
You may leave it it is used for the sensor but for nothing else.
Hi. I came to your video because I want to install this sensor to my Anet A8. I changed the original display to the A6 display. If I understood correctly y should need to connect the orange (signal) wire to the 7th pin, is it correct? I don’t feel like making an adapter like yours so I would go directly to solder it. Does it affect in any way the Display functioning?
Yes, pin 7 if you have an a6 display. It works as usual. 👍
Crosslink Thanks. Looking forward for your second part. Is there a problem adding some many features to the A8 firmware (A6 display, auto level and sensor?)
yes, this will most probably cause you to get the "sketch too big" error. but there is a solution: check out my new video on how to fix it here: ua-cam.com/video/RQIizXtf9oo/v-deo.html
Hi, if you have the graphics display and cut the seventh wire what pin do you assign servo0 to in Marlin ? Thanks
Pin29
Anyone following this tutorial ignore the part from video where he tells you that its cable 3 on the ribbon cable, i spent 4 hours trying to solve why my sensor was not retracting down when homing its because he tells you that its cable 3 from the red side where mine was totally opposite side i recommend soldering a direct connection to pin 27 on the main board
How to make a BLTouch setup on Anet A6 with Marlin firmware?
You can follow my instructions with the A6 display wires regarding the wiring. For the firmware upgrade you need of course the A6 configuration sample files and then make the modification for the bltouch support.
Hi, thanks, but wiring schematics confusingly show control signal going to pin 5 on the lcd connector??? I guess its pin3 for a8, pin7 for a6? . Im making up my own dupont breakout cable adapter cable, not splicing a prebuilt cable.....
Thanks for pointing out. I have taken the line back a little and written the pin numbers insted nearby. Check out the new version linked in the video description. Does this make it clearer?
Does this also work for the a8 plus? (asked on the other video for the firmware)
Hello? Help me! Works for Anet A8 Plus? For this tutorial need install marlin?
hey did you got an answer about the A8 plus? I have the same question, thanks!
Why you changed the sensor with BL touch? I watched your video before, You used a capacitive sensor. What is the best?
What do you open an ".fzz" file type with??
fritzing.org/home/ it's a eletrical wiring diagram
Hello! I have this wired and programmed. I have an Anet A8 PLUS, and I have the board that looks just like the one in your video here. I used servo pin 29, and the bltouch won't respond to my commands. I followed your wiring just as you did it. The Bltouch is lit up, and it deploys and stuff when I turn the machine on, it just won't follow commands from the LCD, or when I tell it to auto level. Please help!
I had the same problem with my Anet A8. I figured out that for my board the orange wire should be connected to the second pin and not the third as shown in the diagram. I don't know if it a change due to board versions or just a mistake that was made when creating the wiring diagram.
@@R4GEVipeRzZ yeah I saw that too, but more annoyingly I also saw it as the fourth pin down. So I was getting pretty annoyed with nobody having a definite answer. So I sent the sensor back and said forget it.
Hi the images in the video at 2min 28sec is incorrect it shows control signal wire at fift pin where pin27 is the third on the plug and pin29 is the seven pin on the plug
Hi, thanks for the video! Is the wiring the same for 3DTouch and BLTouch? I have an BLTouch sensor..
Yes, the wiring is the same. Both sensors are very similar and share the same wiring.
@@Crosslink3D Thanks for fast replying! I already tried in the past with no success, I will try again with your directions. Thank you!
Cool, let me know how it went! 👍
could you do a project on Tronxy_X5S bed leveling . Many thanks
Sorry, I don't have that printer 🙄
Will this work with the Anet 1.7s 24v ?
Yes, the processor will still be powered 5v as well as the I/O pins so no change there.
Crosslink thanks!! 😃
Is it also working for the Anet A8 plus Version?
How to install firmware on anet a8 plus board.
Are all my attempts unsuccessful? (((board version 1.5
U are perfect thnks
Thanks, always love to help!
is it possible to use with anet ET5X?
Does anyone have a 3d touch holder file that doesn't need longer screws? I don't have any extra or longer screws on my printer lol.
Hi I have amended merlin firmware for LCD 12864, Power loss and recover and now tried to comply with BLTouch but is failing I am using UNO board so I think its run out memory can you help as I am a Noob to this Anet A8
Can you try to post your arduino output here?
where can i buy 3d touch holder???
could I do this on my Tronxy_X5S
Why not? The sensor can be installed on many printers. You might need to check about the cabling of course. But the firmware will be the same.
If you don't like the soldering and cutting wires, here is the PIN 27 break out board. www.ebay.com/itm/202571021260
Nice product. If you like me to review it, let's chat @danielcrosslink via twitter.
In this guys video ua-cam.com/video/6aofhlAooUE/v-deo.html he connected the control signal to the 4th pin down. But you did on the 3rd pin. The instructions I found on www.thingiverse.com/thing:2091529 also has it on the 4th pin down. He doesn't show what screen he's using, but he doesn't mention the a6 screen. Am I missing something? I have a mostly stock a8. Just heat bed upgrade.
Hi Daniel, first of all thank you for sharing your knowledge and this in a very pleasant and educational way.
I just looked at the BLTouch site and there I find the following info www.antclabs.com/wiring3 :
■ Anet (Melzi Compatible) Wiring
#define SERVO0_PIN 27
※ C45 must be removed to use BLTouch.
If you remove C45, accuracy would be higher, even though if you don't use BLTouch.
You can easily remove C45 by just using a long nose plier.
Is this according to you also necessary to remove C45 for the 3DTouch on an Anet A6 motherboard (ANET3D V1-5.).
Thanks already, Arnold
Actually, I can't tell you. Did not try this out, did you?
No, not yet. First I have to reduce my configuration.h file, it is 728 bytes too large to upload. I will compare your Anet A8 file with my Anet A6 file, because in part 2 you also indicate that you have had to reduce your configutartion.h. When everything works it is possible that I remove C45 to see if the Touch works accurately then. To be continued ;-)@@Crosslink3D
Arnold Van Remoortere cool, please keep me updated 👍
For me, Yes, The 3d touch I had worked sometimes but wasn't reliable. So I bought a legit BLtouch of aliexpress. With the same wiring/ Marlin set up this only worked after I removed the c45 capacitor as instructed on the Antclabs website. (its a filter circuit on the z stop microswitch). With the capacitor in place the bltouch zstop didn't work properly and the nozzle crashed into the bed. Note Removing the capacitor is not for the faint hearted or poor vision!!
I see, for me it worked fine so far. Sometimes the reason for it to not work is because its magnetization is lost. Can be fixed easily by taking the pin out then re-magnetizing it.
Hi, I have a anet a8. I'm having problems with the mother board and have ordered a new one. I need this printer to be able to pay for itself, im going to sell prints but am also trying UA-cam, would you like to do a collaboration?
I am subscribed to your Chanel and like every video
Thanks
Hi, do you have problems with firmware flashing? Maybe this video will help: ua-cam.com/video/RQIizXtf9oo/v-deo.html. We can talk about collaboration of course. What do you have in mind?
