    It sounds like you have such a good doctor! When I had my daughter I had pre-eclampsia and had to be induced 16 days before my due date (which I was excited about!) My doctor was great. I feel like she truly saved my life. I am one to suffer in silence, so it could have been bad. Remember only you know you, so trust what your body is telling you. It sounds like you have a good doctor that will listen to you. You guys are in my prayers! Safe delivery for you & your 2 gifts from God!

    Bless you, I have twin girls that are about to turn 3! Still to this day hearing you talk about the pain in your ribs makes me remember it like yesterday!! Twin pregnancy is no joke. We set our induction date and then my girls decided to come on their own a week early at 34 weeks! Praying for you during the rest of this pregnancy and for smooth and uncomplicated delivery!! I cannot wait for their names to be revealed once they arrive!

    Rachel, you and Brad are really an inspiration! You all seem to be doing so well with not just a first pregnancy but a first twin pregnancy! Your doctor sounds amazing! While I loved my doctor and praise her for really, really coming through for me and my son when things took a nosedive, I wish she had been a little more proactive against pre-eclampsia earlier. Although my blood, urine, and blood pressures were normal until 32 weeks, my legs below my knees began retaining water very early on---pitting edema by 20 weeks. I gained a total of 9 pounds by 28 weeks and then put on 30 pounds between 28 and 33 weeks when I delivered because of severe pre-eclampsia. Although I was considered "very sick", I still felt great and could hardly believe I was "being forced to deliver" at 33 weeks. Although my son was 7 weeks premature, he did amazing and is now a healthy, active 7 year old! Pre-eclampsia decided to hang around with my for a month after I delivered :-( I will be praying against pre-eclampsia and all other complications with the rest of your pregnancy. Either way, those precious little babies of yours will be born according to God's perfect plan for them! I love watching your videos! And take it easy!! Now you have doctor's orders to rest and relax!

    You will get through whatever you have to do. With my twin pregnancy, I had to start bed rest at 24 weeks because I was having too many contractions. At that point had to start Brethine and also had gestational diabetes that was controlled with a strict diet. We did it without family to help and with a toddler. Had to check my blood sugar 4 times a day. There was no Christmas tree that year. It was hard, but we got through it. I made it to almost 37 weeks. Whatever challenges you face over hopefully the next 2 months .... It is just the beginning of the sacrifices of motherhood. There will be many, many more. They aren't born yet, but you are already a mom.

    I had severe pre-e and had to have an emergency c section at exactly 34 weeks which should in theory have been fine but baby boy was born measuring 28 weeks because of my anemia combined with pre-e and ended up spending 3 weeks and 3 days in NICU. He will be 11 months tomorrow, is completely back on track height and weight wise and has been developmentally as well for quite a while. My point is you shouldn't worry, I wish you a happy and healthy end of pregnancy.

  • @meiraloraduncan8953

    You look amazing Rachel. I had pre-eclampsia during my pregnancy with my daughter and was put on modified bed rest and had to go in twice a week for the fetal non stress test. The way that I carried her caused a lot of lower back pain and I had trouble walking and would get some cramping. Each time that happened and I went to my next appointment I had dilated a bit more. When I was put on the home rest as he called it, I was already 3.5 cm dilated and it was near the beginning of August and she wasn't due until October 31. I was told to avoid stress if at all possible. Elevate your legs. Avoid any unnecessary salt and drink lots of water to flush out any excess protein in your urine and to help regulate your bp.
    It was a high risk pregnancy from the beginning because I am diabetic and also have PCOS and had already lost 2 pregnancies to miscarriage. So literally from the first positive test at 3 months I saw both my endocrinologist and my high risk ob/gynecologist the same day every 2 weeks until I was put on bed rest when it switched to twice a week at the ob office. I was told to bring my hospital bag to each appointment just in case I was admitted. I did retain a lot of fluid and became very swollen. I was induced at 38 weeks which didn't take much more than breaking my water. I was already dilated to 4.5 cm . They hooked up the pitocin and never increased the base dose because my contractions were every 2 minutes. I did get the epidural which let me get a little sleep as I couldn't sleep the night before. I pushed for 2.5 hours, but she had changed her position and was facing the wrong way and couldn't descend. Since they couldn't use the vacuum or forsyps and she was getting a little distressed so I ended up having a c-section which went very well. Because she had changed her position she got stuck on my pelvic bone and had a big bump on the side of her head that went away within hours. I was amazed by how alert she was. When the doctor held her up so I could see her her eyes were wide open and checking everything and everyone out. Because they keep you on the IV to give pain medication and anything else you need (If you do have pre-eclampsia) you might get more swollen. My doctor told me that the swelling gets worse before it gets better. I was in the hospital for 5 days and felt great and was able to get around the house and take care of the baby. The swelling went away pretty quickly after getting home and following the diet that the nutritionist put together for me to regulate my blood sugar and also have enough calories to produce enough breast milk. During the first 6 weeks I lost just under 80 pounds and was well below my pre pregnancy weight. I was thrilled with the weight loss because the PCOS and the fertility medication had caused weight gain which was kinda depressing. The only thing I would do differently would be to have not gone on the mini pill because it stopped my weight loss and I would have loved to be able to get to my goal weight. My blood pressure went down for a while, but went back up when I got pregnant again and didn't realize it at first and after that miscarriage it stayed up and I was put on blood pressure medication which got it under control quickly.

    As always, you look beautiful Rach!!! Please rest, rest and relax. I know how hard it is when you’re a super active person. Been there, done that. I ended up on bed rest only from about 26 weeks on and I don’t want you to have to experience that. It is amazing how involved we all feel with hoping and praying for a safe and healthy pregnancy and delivery for you and those sweet babes!! Drink plenty of water too and spinach smoothies. Mean green smoothies and orange juice to help absorption. Love you and can’t wait to see those beautiful little ones!!!

    I'm really glad your Dr talked about rest. Nothing is more important than the babies right now. Rest, then rest some more, and don't forget to just rest. You can get your muscle strength back up AFTER they're born. I learned a trick with iron building really quickly and will confirm it with a friend tomorrow then let you know. I hemorrhaged after mine and OMgosh! Not the time to be weak that's for sure. Talk soon cutie!

    I just had boy girl twins 3 months ago at 34 weeks and 5 days and the best advice I can give someone is to conserve as much energy as you can now, I had no complications at that point and right when 30 weeks rolled around I could barely walk up and down the steps because I got so worn out. And the weego carrier is amazing, the only downfall is our twins are on the bigger side so with their combined weights we won't get to use it much longer, but it's great when you first come home. Good luck!!

    Keeping my fingers crossed that you get that doctor for delivery!!! Our daughter was born dec 29th-let me just say-we usually celebrate the week after New Years formally and we go away somewhere. There are presents but with just coming off the holidays everyone is spent on celebrations so a get away trip every year has been the ticket. We make it special for her and it's something we look forward to every year 😊 we had to cancel our FET cycle last month because I had fluid in my uterus before we got to the progesterone stage 😒 but starting back on birth control Saturday-you make me so hopeful and help me stay positive that it's going to work out. Hopefully November will be our time and our 2 embryos will be cooking by December ❤️👍🏻 stay strong and healthy girl-we are all rooting for you and a healthy 3rd trimester. Just enjoy the holidays and soak it up!! Lots of love ❤️

    I dealt with preeclampsia both pregnancies! It's very scary, but being aware and having a knowledgeable doctor goes a really, really long way. Had to be induced with my first and my second was able to be kept in until almost her due date and I got to go in to labor naturally (MUCH BETHER EXPERIENCE!) thanks so close monitoring and a great OB 🙏 It sounds like you're in really good hands and you have an awesome doctor to help you!

    Looking great Rach! I was on bed rest with my first pregnancy for 5 months. Pre-eclampsia started early for me and that was just a singlton. I am praying you don't have that happen. Just do what she says, rest rest rest. I think also, sorry medical background lol, That you were trying to fix the dizziness and not sure how much sodium you were taking in but that will also jump your bp up. Excited for you and Brad and can not wait to "meet" the babies!

    Praise God for such an awesome doctor! The unknown can be so scary, but it sounds like she is preparing you the best she can... what a blessing! Just hearing you mention pre eclampsia made my heart nervous, but you seem to be very aware of your body and all of its changes which is the best thing you could do. My only advice would be watch for any excessive swelling around your ankles as well as any unexplained sharp headaches-- contact your doctor if those symptoms arrive, especially together! Here's to hoping and praying for a perfect and safe continuation of your pregnancy! :)

  • @hannahwalker2482
    @hannahwalker2482 7 років тому

    Preclamsia can be scary but manageable as long as you trust your doctors. I had it and my doctor admitted me to the hospital at 32 weeks and induced me at 34 weeks. It was hard to justify because I felt totally fine and had no symptoms other than blood pressure through the roof (which I couldn't even tell). My son spent a week in the NICU and is now 6 weeks old and doing great :) my best piece of advice, don't underestimate how quickly things can escalate when dealing with blood pressure, but also don't forget that it can be managed ☺️

    Hi Rach, I too have twins. I had an early bleed 11wks 4 days and experienced extreme sickness at the beginning until about 5 1/2 months. I lost 25# and only gained 19 of that back before birth. This is what I can offer from experience. You've got to gain weigh this next month to month and a half because they move up and it will compact your stomach so a half of a sandwich will fill you up. I didn't show much until 6 months either. Great abs. The last trimester wasn't bad at all for me except it was extremely hot in WI that summer, we were in triple digits here. I went to 39 weeks and the Dr scheduled a Csection because baby A was breech. I also kept taking iron and prenatal vitamins after their birth because I was depleted. You guys are already great parents. These vlogs will someday be cherished by your children too.

    When I had my twins, I was pretty adamant that I wanted to deliver vaginally if possible. My baby A was head down, so my doc said we’d do a vaginal delivery if I wanted. Baby B was breech, but my doc insisted that he could turn her with no problems after baby A was delivered. So baby A came out perfectly, but they (my doc and nurses) couldn’t get baby B to turn. I ended up delivering her breech while she was doing the splits. Her left leg was wrapped against her body (with her foot by her head) by her umbilical cord. It was craziness, but she’s perfectly healthy! No one expected delivery to play out that way, but anything is game with a twin delivery! Of course, I was torn up pretty badly after that delivery, but I healed remarkably quickly and well! My twins were born in 2015 at 38w1d and weighed a combined 13 pounds!

    Rach, your belly looks so beautiful. From what I heard stretch marks come from the inside out. So know matter how much oil or butters you put on them they are gonna get stretch marks. Some people skin is more stretchier than others. My first pregnancy I lathered myself everyday and night and got stretch marks on my hips and little on my legs and some around my belly button. My Grandmother and many of my Ob's told me that about the skin stretching from the inside out. But it won't hurt for you to put it on it helps with the itching. Rach, I had preeclampsia with my first birth, the last month of pregnancy. They told me I could not eat any salt, it's very hard to find anything without any salt in it. Even a bag of frozen vegetables has salt in it. So I tried the best I could and then I had do labor on my left side it gives more oxygen to the baby. It was difficult because I had back labor. Once I delivered him,I hemorrhaged so much blood on the floor they were mopping it up. Then they sat me up and I fell back down I remember it to this day I felt like I died. They wanted me to eat. But I was to weak. But everything turned out fine. I didn't need know blood just sleep. I felt bad after 13 hrs of labor I just went to sleep and he went to the nursery or my family took care of him. My other two delivery's I got the baby right away. So I pray that you don't have to go through this, it's not because of anything I did. Because I wasn't working I tried to stay away from salt. We will lift you up in prayer that you don't even get preeclampsia. And that your Iron levels get higher. God can do miracles as much as we try to do it ourself. We can just pray and he can answer our prayer. God Bless you and your babies Brad and Rach❤️

    Hey! I just found out yesterday I’m carrying twins too! They did my blood test and I’m severely anemic I love how you explain everything because I understand now why it’s so serious to start taking supplements exactly! But I’m also dealing with pretty bad morning sickness so I’m wondering if you have any tips on how to take iron with orange juice and keep it down? Love your videos you guys are super funny and I love your dog and cats!! Can’t wait to find out the names in December :)

      AHHHHHH, YAY!!!!!!!! Congrats!!!
      I'm so sorry about the morning sickness! Are you taking Diclegis yet? I'm attribute my twins fantastic growth to it because I was able to eat & mostly keep down food on it. There's not a snowflakes chance in heck I could have kept OJ down in the beginning without it... :|

      Brad and Rach thank you!! My doctor told me to take unisom to help with the nausea she said to just take 1 pill 2x a day if I’m able to stay awake during the day with it. My iron was only at an 8 so super low! If it doesn’t work though then I’ll definitely ask about it I’m pretty much ready to do whatever I need to to be able to wake up comfortably in the morning again :) haha

    You look fantastic! One warning though, if you plan to have an epidural and your having pain in your sciatic nerve already.. make sure you tell your anesthesiologist so he can be sure not to disturb your nerve already.. been there😁😂😁 you look wonderful! Love how you are enjoying your doctor!

    Trust your body. I had my twins at 35 weeks and was induced because of preeclampsia, both babies were big and healthy, because they tried to come at 31 weeks and I had the steroids. Praying you get the delivery your hoping for, and that your kiddos cooperate. My baby B had to be pulled down manually by the dr into the birth canal because she attempted to come hand first. Praying smooth sailing the rest of your pregnancy ❤

    I started taking baby aspirin at the start of IVF per doctor’s orders and I’m 9 weeks now with twins. I’ve read that it can help prevent preeclampsia. I had preeclampsia with my daughter 13 years ago. I have my first OB appointment in two weeks so I’ll ask what the doctor thinks about staying on it. I am so scared of getting it again and know that my chances are pretty high. I hope you don’t have to go through that.

    I can't remember which iron it is, but there's one that is more readily absorbed than the other. I know there's ferrous sulfate, ferrous gluconate, and I think there's one more, not real sure. cream of wheat is a good iron source too. I had trouble with anemia with all four pregnancies. #2 is when my Dr., who saved my baby's life in delivery and was like your favorite Dr. luckily he wasn't in a group. the night I went into labor he wasn't on call but he came in and took care of me! I felt wonderful after having no pain in the usual spots! lol😉 I got a pic of him and my daughter at my 6wk check up. He was most definitely the best Dr. of the four! I don't think my daughter would have survived delivery if it wasn't for him!

    The fastest and best way to get the iron up is by eating liver. Supplements do not work, the body just processes them out through the digestive system. My younger daughter has anemia without eating iron rich foods and having a B12 shot.

    Pumpkin is a good source of Iron. My OB recommended canned pumpkin. It sounds like you are getting close to needing bed rest. I'm wondering if you were to reduce your work hours, just to not be on your feet as much. It might put it off for awhile or perhaps indefinitely. Can you afford to shut down etsy for a bit? I know it wouldn't be ideal, but it would be much worse if you had to go on bed rest or have to stay in the hospital. Just a thought, you might want to ask you Dr about if it sounds like a reasonable idea to you.

    • @BradandRach
      @BradandRach  7 років тому

      I love pumpkin!! I had no idea!
      My OB definitely hinted at me working less and I am now down to 3 days a week. I could definitely shut down Etsy, too but I've trained Brad to be able to do *most* of my signs for me :)

      If that doesn't help, maybe you could work shorter shifts? If it gets to that point. I'm sure you will figure out, with the help of your OB, what is best.
      Also, do you have an at home blood pressure cuff? If you can take it throughout the day you can get a more accurate idea of what's going on. They can be picked up reasonably. I have an automatic one that is very easy to use.

    During my last pregnancy I had a blood pressure reading of 134/something and I was freaking out because it’s always been really good, like in the 110s. Then I realized that I drank like 2 cups of coffee and didn’t eat anything. I never had a high reading after that, it was always on the low side of normal. I didn’t realize how much an effect caffeine had on it, so just incase you had some extra caffeine that morning or more than you’re used to I wanted to throw that out there. You look incredible by the way!!

I can’t wait for your little bundles of joy to arrive. My blood pressure was very low like yours. Then I had a few appointments where my blood pressure went a bit high. Then went back to normal. • @BradandRach
      @BradandRach  7 років тому

      As a medical professional, I'm required to get one. I received it a few weeks ago and had no ill effects (nor have I ever had side effects). Brad and I are extensively researching vaccinations regarding the babies.

    • @ljcl1859
      @ljcl1859 7 років тому

      My good friend did the same and decided she was more comfortable with an alternative vaccination schedule. Fewer shots at one time and a little delayed with some. However, one of the vaccinations she delayed ended up having a breakout of the disease that it prevented (in our area )and she was beside herself with worry. She felt so guilty. Everything ended up fine and the baby didn't get it. I told her not to beat herself up. Every parent has to make their own decisions on these things. As long as you educate yourselves and think of all the possibilities your just have to follow what you feel most comfortable with. For my family, I found a pediatrician that I trusted and who was willing to listen to my concerns and discuss everything. He has children slightly older than my own and I asked what he had decided to do with his and why.

    Yes, you DID need to hear that, ya workin' party girl! 😂😂😂 I guess you feel a little frustrated having to first keep your low bp up enough and now trying to keep it down enough. Luckily your body is sensitive to change without too much effort, like lowering salt and not holding too much water. Your reaction to Unisom tells me that. Also, because of your short stature, those babies are stacked on top of each other for the most part and when your stomach muscles will allow it to "all hang out"😂 your ribs and lungs will get some relief, I bet!! You are really doing such a fantastic job taking care of your precious babies, Rach. I know Brad is soooo proud of you. We are too in viewerland!!! Your cheerful attitude is helping tremendously too don't ya think? And your smile is both encouraging and contagious young lady!!! 😄oh! And imagine yourself as an old hillbilly with a beer belly, put some overalls on and a hayseed straw in your mouth and let it all hang out!!! 😂😂😂
