I saw Slash at Disneyland once. I tried to nonchalantly give him a little wave to let him know I was a fan without intruding on his family day. He immediately came over to me and offered to take a pic with my family and I. Such an amazingly talented man who shows his appreciation to his fans!
"Don't Cry" peaked @ #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1991. It was the 7th charting single from Guns N' Roses. Between 1988 into 1995, GNR charted 12 singles on the chart, 8 in the Top 40, 6 in the Top 10 including one @ #1, their 1st chart hit, "Sweet Child O' Mine" (2 weeks @#1/1988).
The 2nd version has better lyrics, IMO, and i like how the 3rd verse doesn't kick off until the 3rd line...it just hit me different. The blue UYI album, withbthat and Locomotive and 14 Years and Civi War and Yesterdays, etc, was the one that saw the most play for me
@@dougman23 I definitely agree the 2nd version is way better. They get into it more and the guitar riffs are way harder. Not to mention axle really gets into it on that one. I agree
G N' R took us to a whole new level in the 80's...Axl has great range! I love them! Saw them live on the Use Your Illussion tour with Skid Row in 90...
@@christikirk7265 I did not in fact I think I only knew outshined from them at that time. One of the greatest hard rock songs of all time . I remember the first time seeing this when I was in the 4th grade when this came out it blew my little feeble mind lol.
One of my favorite songs from my favorite trilogies. So good....November Rain is Next in the Trilogy...and it ends with Estranged. All power ballads...progressively more dramatic.
What's crazy is that they played this song in their early days in the mid 80s at a small bar, before anyone knew who they were. And now we're in the early 20s and this song keeps reaching an audience.
This is the first song written by the band and they left it off Appetite at the request of management. They recorded two different versions of it and It was part of the Use you Illusion records. Shannon Hoon (RIP) sang backup and is on the live version video.
Hey my beloved Crue! This was one of my favorites growing up. You really get to hear Axel’s range. I saw you guys Did “ What It Takes” That video left out ALOT of that song!! And Steven Tyler’s ultimate scream harmonies. Please check out the lyric version and see for yourself just how much you missed at the End. You won’t be disappointed!! But hurry or you mite forget. Cuz Steve really belts out those notes to close that song down. I don’t know why it was cut down like that . ACDC FAN 4 LIFE. #AMBERSWAY
There were two sets of lyrics to this song- the other has a different melody, though the instrumental is the same. They were released on two different albums that were released simultaneously … “Use Your Illusion I” and “Use Your Illusjon II”
Definitely do November Rain with Amber, and then as everyone else has suggested, do Estranged to finish the trilogy. Don't Cry is one of my favorite GNR songs, between Axl's voice and Slash's hauntingly beautiful guitar, this song never fails to give me chills. Amber is going to love November Rain, and y'all are going to love Estranged, they are both masterpieces of composition.
Fun fact: there are two different but very similar versions of this song, one from each Use Your Illusion album. The lyrics in the verses are different.
Maybe one of the better songs ever heared during the 90's, almost every time at every place, a full great classic. 🤟 That album was pure rock. Regards from Chile!
November Rain actually comes after Don't Cry in the story so it is good you are doing this first but November Rain is a must. One of my all time fav songs. Then you should do Estranged. It is the last song in the ballad trilogy and the most epic song in the Guns N Roses catalogue. If you have not done Civil War then this is also a must. Rocket Queen, Nightrain, Mr Brownstone and Comma are also bangers.
Definitely revisit November Rain it is the type of song that you want to revisit time and time again and Amber now being a rock ballad love i am sure she will think it is awesome.
Slash gets all praise for his solos but don't forget Izzy Stadlin, just for his name alone, giving us those great rhythms. I'd love you guys to do The Garden which guests Alice Cooper. I'd also love, love to see your reaction to Get In The Ring.
Don't Cry is just one of the three incredible song's that all go together as far as the videos, check out November Rain and Estranged!! Thank's for doing what you do
My absolute favorite GnR song!!! Definitely need to introduce Amber to November Rain and then Estranged, it's a trilogy Because the lead singer is in the video I'm also gonna suggest Blind Melon - No Rain
Yah! You gotta listen to "Estranged". Such an amazing song as well as "November Rain". You want a banger you should listen to "You Could be Mine" since you've watched Terminator II.
JORGE SANTANA - Love The Way 1978 Melodic Rock Classics highly recommended it's an amazing song right from the beginning and what a voice from the lead singer who also plays guitar 🎸.
Lenny Kravitz - "Mama Said" ft Slash. Lenny and Slash were childhood friends who bonded over being the only half black/half Jewish kids they knew. A great song.
If you noticed that he was wearing as St Louis Cardinals cap in one shot, it was a taunt because of an incident that became known as "The Riverport Riot"
My very young son said "Hey Dad who is Guns n Roses?' he is very young but i almost whooped his behind - haha - told him to listen to Appettite for Destruction - he then said "Dad why arent music banging like that? I gave him a hug - ha
My dad introduced me to Guns N’ Roses because he loves the band and especially this song. My dad told me he would turn to this song during bad times. I love this song but it’s sometimes hard for me to listen to knowing how bad of a place my dad must of been in when he listened to this song and he says when he passes he wants this played at his funeral. So no matter what when I hear this song I think of my dad and hope he never feels this down again.
Love this song, there is another version of this song, same video but alternate verses, they released both, one on Use Your Illusion 1 and the other on UYI 2, which was weird but cool. Video still all over the place, part of the trilogy w/November Rain & Estranged. You should react to their song Better, it's a perfect song!
Rob & Amber reacted to Blind Melon's "No Rain" 10 months ago, even constantly commented on how awesomely unique Shannon's voice was. But Rob & Amber are not from that/our era, aren't Blind Melon/Shannon fans so they're not going to pickup on the background vocalist, it is okay. Though there was no Blind Melon when "Don't Cry" was released if I am not mistaken, we only caught Shannon after rewatching "Don't Cry" after "No Rain" on MTV & VH1, many of us not all.
You've done so many reactions that sometimes (like with this video), a reaction will show up in my feed and I'm like "why am I seeing some old reaction?" And then I realize, wow! Somehow you really haven't reacted to SongX. Looking forward to it.
I love Guns n' Roses, so any reactions you want to do (or redo with Amber) is fine by me. The only downside is that GnR reactions tend to be more vulnerable to getting strikes. They also have a lot of amazing songs with no music videos. If you don't mind doing just audio, here are some additional options: Think About You. Night Train. Don't Damn Me. Breakdown. Civil War. Also, my favorite live performance of theirs ever is "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" at the Rock in Rio festival from 1991. (I think there are a couple low-res copies on UA-cam.)
