Pietro's Return - Accordion March on Theatre Organ

  • This happy march by Pietro Deiro (1914) was written for accordion. The classic theatre organ version played by organist Everett Nourse on the San Francisco Fox Theatre Wurlitzer is in part of a "Farewell to the Fox" movie that is also on youtube. Here it is played on a 2 manual Gulbransen electronic theatre organ.

    This is brilliant keyboard work. I know you have moved on to better instruments but you have made this sound better than I could ever have imagined.

    Yes indeed. And not only that, I've heard that Gulbransens were built a bit differently from other transistorized organs which enabled them to do strange fading harmonics like a string section. I've been looking for an example of this, but Glen Campbell's "Wichita Lineman" is the only one I can find.

    This is VERY good...very well-played, and the Gulbransen sounds really good, too! Have you ever played around much on real pipes? If not, you definitely should!
