It's neat how he intentionally starts with the legs split, so he can increase his rotational speed once he's in position by closing them up. Conservation of angular momentum!
Anything can be turned into a combat move... I guess the question is why would you want to turn this into a combat move and the answer is most probably “coz it would look cool” and if you want to look cool in combat you might wanna check your motivation for what you want to do combat for... also apologies as you asked this 3 years ago
Momentum , with your left leg carries you into the spin which is why you move your legs to a slightly closed position to keep you from slowing yourself and being counter productive (might be wrong but that's just based on watching his movements)
Its crazy when i was still a kid i did the exact same move and not know what it was.. Back it 98' when we use to look for cardboard boxes cut them out place it on the floor and just start breaking... I miss those time man my childhood was the best thing to happen for me. Wish i rewind back time and relive it cause the 90 basically was my signature move. I always find a way to go to it.
no its right over for right hand because if you push out with your left on top your legs turns ccw and your upper body is turning clockwise causing you to stop.(would be good if your going for a sudden freeze effect though). if its right on right your whole body is turning clock wise. after you kind of get it down you can switch to during the wind up instead of having your hand face foward it face backwards for more spin.
your initial kick (that's going sideways) will give you the momentum after you kick up into you handstand. after you get into your handstand with the momentum from your kick close you legs and push with you hand in the direction that you are spinning. Its just like if you were going to do a backflip, to get more momentum you do a tuck, without the tuck the backflip is slower. so again, bringing your legs together after you kick will give you the spin.
nice i can almost do it just spined once but not like a hundred times i need to keep practising i cant expect to do this in one day. :) thanks by the way to deserve a subscriber :D and thats me.
thanks man. i've tried to do this move for a month but don't even spin more than a round! so hard to me. btw keep making tutorial man! it's all awesome.
@hpufo as a drill try holding a straddle handstand and walking in circles, start with small shuffles then reduce the amount of hand placements to get around.
Easy to get 1, but so hard to get more than 1 spin just like how it so hard to get more than 1 flare. Took me more than six months just to get 10 clean flares. 90's and Flares aren't hard bit intermediate
like i said on someone else's comment it helps to handstand walk in circles the way you are going to spin. Gets your body more comfortable with doing it. or at least it did with me
Wow good thanks for the information it helps me a lot I am your biggest fan because all of your videos help me a lot and I love this one. Even though I am 13 years old I can do all of the breakdance thanks to you. Good job on the teaching you should be a dancing teacher. Bye and Thanks again!!!
It has to do with the shift of the torque when you switch hands after both hands are on the ground which is why one handed spins are faster and carry more spin than if you have both hands down.
for this move its more of the flex that makes you get the spin. if you understand what i mean. your flexing and at the same time stretching your body out and that makes you spin. also a side note i didn't notice this for a while when i was trying to get this but which leg you put on top as your flexing out does matter because if you do it wrong your countering your body motion and you will suddenly stop. right leg on top if your using your right hand and left for left
i have one rotation, trying to get momentum for more. it blew my mind you made that comment about facing away from the mirrors tho. i have the same issue and have to face the back wall everytime :D people joke on it all the time.
heeeee .... mmm solo queria ... decirte que ..gracias.. por los tutoriales ... en ingles y en español... me parece algo muy inovador .. y muy conciderado de tu parte ... yy heeee sos un muy buen teacher .. and dancer.. tanks
Clockwise spin = right hand on the ground Counterclockwise spin = left hand on the ground According to what you have described, I'd say you are right handed, so right hand on the ground. I'm practicing the 90 as well but really can't do much lol xD
i don't have a solid handstand but my teacher says i can easily do it i just have to find the right way to get my legs to spin me from wind up. for some reason from wind up i can do a sudden freeze in a handstand position and hold it easier than if i were to just go for it. ill use your tips and try.
Man, your're just awesome! How long have you been training/dancing break dance? I'm starting now, how long do you think it would take for me to get just good at it training 2 times a week? tnx peace out.
he didntt really adress it but guys when you spin, like when he said to push off the non-spin hand you wanna almost whip ur shoulders in the direction ur spinning as well as keep ur head looking straight not down and slightly turned to where ur spinning hope it helps
To people who is right hand (just like me) need to practice by doing a handstand of 3 sec with only your left hand i know is gonna be difficult but is the only way, i try it everyday and now i know how to do it
when you raise your legs in the air, it should propel you for your spin, but you really have to kick the leg hard in the air for momentum...basically you gotta become YOLO as fuck and just go for it.
Also, if you want to do this move with your right hand, you do the opposite. Have your right leg in front of you, put your left hand down first, next, twist and put your right hand down, and then begin spinning.
I remember in the early 80s when I heard of this move. I was in junior high, they called it the 1990, it sounded so futuristic.
wait how old are you
@@Brukhhh 50.
Tell me, it’s the most beautiful movie ever! I look at it the same way I look at a beautiful back handspring
i WAS A B GURL BACK IN THE DAY. Now i'm a grandma watching these videos, reminiscing!
at least you make great cookies

exactly what figure skaters use to spin quickly on the spot.
@@millsbomb007 also how good taekwondo spin kicks get speed
you say your gonna get me in the air but ive never felt this close to the ground before
This dude can be Sanji if he spread his legs out like when you do the split and do this move.

everytime i try this i end up doing a cartwheel?
Nice bro! I started bboying back in the 80's, u got me started back and gonna start my son rocking...he's 4!
Is it possible to turn this dance move into a combat move?
***** I have kicked the shit out of many people while windmilling at raves. I don't see why this can't be equally if not more dangerous ahaha
you mean like B.Orchid's Flik Flak?
See Sasuke from Naruto.

This is actually really hard! O.o he makes it look so easy

Trying to learn this with the hopes of incorporating it into Brazilian Jiu jitsu. Imagine a takedown or a triangle choke from this 😳
Did you ever learn it
update?

I will try this for my dance. You can go to a dance programme.Because you are amazing. You can dance so well. Wowww
whoever invented this move is a genius!!
You need extreme strength to do this.
wouldnt say that, aslong as you can manage your body weight than you'll be fine
You need the strenght to hold a handstand
@@semrozema handstands are mostly balance with scapula and shoulder stability
This guy got some dope looking 90’s

Try placing one hand on top of the other and cross you legs. If you can up the speed it creates a corkscrew effect.

"Mae sure you have a good solid hand-stand." I can tell this is the best advice here, but its at the very end, just before "bye"
Good one bro...I managed to do it..AWESOME

But as someone with carpal tunnel syndrome, looking at him spin makes me wince in unimaginable pain

peace out.
Problem with these powermove tutorials is, it's really one continuous move or feeling that can't really be broken down into separate steps...
he didntt really adress it but guys when you spin, like when he said to push off the non-spin hand you wanna almost whip ur shoulders in the direction ur spinning as well as keep ur head looking straight not down and slightly turned to where ur spinning

You are a good Dancer bro
its cool how break dance and capoeira are so related. in capoeira this is called piao de mao.
That happens to be when I try to do it clockwise, but I can do it when I go counter. Try doing it the other way.
hey thx i can almost do it plz do one more video but on the right hand or just how to spin on left
Finally, a good !990 tutorial. Compared to the other silent, and asian ones..
dude i got a 90 today and i can't get it back again you helped a lot
Sweet movements.
Bloody hell man! That's amazing!
nice that was a good spin, i feel like i could do it.
The face he made at the end
bend the arm which you will be spinning, ever so slightly to help increase speed count and speed.
sweet tutorial. thanks dude.
this helped i showed this off at school.
i'm double jointed in my dominant arm so i cant do this without my bone coming out of it's socket for a split second. it hurts!!!
valeu cara... muito bom... aprendi com você!!!!
beautiful. good tutorial. ty.
its helped me a lot now i can do its well cool
thx
kick up hard dont be afraid to fall it wont hurt
I didn't come on to this to learn how to do it I just need it to know how to animate it XD
when you raise your legs in the air, it should propel you for your spin, but you really have to kick the leg hard in the air for momentum...basically you gotta become YOLO as fuck and just go for it.
nice i'll sure try this step
great tutorial, i am nearly there. I just need to get more balance
Wow that really helps thank you so much
That's so cool nice job
Also, if you want to do this move with your right hand, you do the opposite. Have your right leg in front of you, put your left hand down first, next, twist and put your right hand down, and then begin spinning.
