I usually try to stay away from shows that take place mainly in Singapore unless it’s CrimeWatch, inject that shit into my veins I love me some crime prevention.
damn its almost netflix using singapore as a flashy background for a bland drama completely detatched from sg culture. crimewatch got more soul than this. 10 second video of me eating cai png in my room also got more culture than this. why is everything in the cbd area. which local talk like this. but its funny to laugh at though.
fun fact: singapore social actually isn't the first netflix show set in singapore. there's a great documentary/short film, Shirkers, out there as well. It's a deeply personal and well made story about failed dreams. It establishes the context of growing up in Singapore very nicely and relatably. NICE SHOW
haha... the irony is that they're not even the top 1% of the top 1%... most of those people wouldn't even touch being on a reality TV show. Can you imagine any Singapore tycoon parent giving their kid the green light to be on a show like this? haha
just watch crimewatch really like wtf that's like the best state sponsored show, also you need better youtube banner tbh hire a graphic designer smh my head

Honeyartpaws owo you don’t need someone to say you’re whining to actually prove that you’re whining, but if that’s the case I said it. You complain about having bad English yet you don’t wanna do something about it. Now that’s whining
I had no idea this show existed a few days ago when my poly lecturer talked about it in his media lecture. He saw an advance screening and fucking hated it lol
@@jaspergan yes. But it wasnt mentioned in the video that most scenes were shot in Malaysia. He only mentioned Singapore so naturally ppl would think that singapore would have such a glamorous house like that (idk if they actually do or not )
@@meganchen4266 very very exclusive indeed. They are usually classified as good class bungalows (over 10,000 sqf of land area). back in 2009, the selling price was 18 million sgd. Singapore too small lah, anything we have that resembles the beautiful houses in that movie is very very rare for the common citizen to come across. I can't even begin to imagine how much it will cost the producers to rent something like that in singapore for filming (or whether even up for rentals or not)
As a person who lived in Singapore for 7 years in the last decade, I thought the same. It does not reflect the everyday stereotypical Singapore. However, in spotlighting the biracial, artistic, Singaporeans who are a minority, the show is unique. Yes, the dialogue is bland but some of the characters are authentic like Mae, who acknowledges her family's hard work ethic that made them rich...like Nicole, who's trying hard to break from the stereotype and still wanting a traditional relationship with Alson...for that matter, Paul and Vinny also have typical Singaporean strong relationships with their families. I have interacted with Singaporeans like these characters. Yes they were privileged, and yes they do exist. In a minority. Was the show well made? No. Was it realistic? No.
a year late, but honestly sg social was a good pr move by netflix lol. it's a trashy show but it gets people talking so it makes sense that their execs or whoever approves of the idea and actually budgeted the show into their account.
I'm a Chinese, and tbh I was shocked when I saw this show, but mate, thank you for cleaning my imaginations about Singapore. Btw, you are fucking hilarious.
Thanks for being an awesome reviewer and actually watching all 8 episodes before giving your opinion. Immediately, your valued feedback has relevance and substance. A "review" like "Okay I lasted 6 minutes into singapore social" is only relevant if you were fucking singapore social and ejaculated prematurely.
is anyone gonna talk about that lady gaga "inspired" woman? i don't think i see anyone with THAT hair around tbh & the english tho, what ever happened to "reality"
This is one of the cringiest, torturous and worst of all scripted BS, one can come across Netflix lately..and honestly I couldn't get through one episode..I mean who are these plastic, un-relatable characters...I definitely would've had more respect for it if it was totally fictionalized..Cos it would've still made way for better content than such blatant scripting of a reality show..The looser production team just want to ride high on the 'Crazy Rich Asian' wave..Kudos to this guy for braving to binge watch this show, and coming up with this hilarious, yet accurate review, in a valiant attempt to save us mere mortals..
Sounds really off topic but could you have a video dedicated to your tattoos?? I always saw you wearing your jacket so I never knew you had tattoos until you changed your attire LOL
