They just played this on the radio so I searched for the dance as it’s been years since I’ve danced it. RIP to the Queen of Rock, Tina Turner. This song reminds me of group dancing it at various RSL and leagues clubs during my late teens the early 90s
Yes - very sad. RIP Tina. The bizarre thing is that I did a TV interview on A Current Affair 2 Days ago about the 50 year anniversary of the Song. Its due to air on Saturday ... and 2 Days later the great Lady paases on!!
Hey, what a fantastic video!! We are recently listening to Tina Turner songs after she said we passed away, and my mum mentioned that when we lived over in Brisbane in Queensland that her work colleague on her, leaving, do started dancing to Nutbush city and telling her all about it being a big Queensland thing. Then I surprised her by actually getting up and starting to do the dance exactly like the old version you are doing. She was like what I had no idea you knew about this and that you could do the dance as she didn’t know that I knew all about it. I learnt how to do the dance whilst I was working in a youth hostel in Brisbane and we would always show the tourist distance so surprise Mum.

i agree - my transition is not the official one. It should be out, cross, turn land out, together and clap on 4. Just did an interview on a current affair channel 9. 50th Anniversary of the song. Airs on Saturday 27/5
Your "original" version turn is the criss cross turn, which is NOT the original version. I'm 60 and have been doing the Nutbush for over 35 years so and it was always a jump, then feet together with clap, THEN back into side steps
Hi Quentin - yes, that's how I used to do it - I have addressed it with a shorts video on my channel showing the correct way and the proper criss cross. Cheers - Dance on!!
Can you at least make the steps 12 bars long to match the phrases of the song? It doesn't feel natural to do the kick, kick, jump, cross, jump, together in the middle of a lyric.
Don't blame me Matthew - I'm just showing you the alternate version, I didn't choreograph these - look at some of the dances I did make up like Hot Stuff, I will survive and I'm too sexy - they all work with the phrasing. Cheers Peter

The low impact is good for old people but the new one is shite. The macarena is a different dance to the Nutbush. There is one Nutbush dance dating back to NSW, Australia,1970's. No country tries to ruin its heritage (even 20th century heritage) by "adapting" things like a known dance - only bogans with no sense of culture would do that. Imagine the Ukrainians doing that with the kozachuk. Simply wouldn't happen.
Settle down mate - 1/ this "new" version was around in the 80s before the Macarena so how can it be "adapted" 2/ I didn't create it - it has been done by many before me.

Hey Jodie - its not a change, just a little extra highlight you can throw in half way through so you can own the dance floor! cheers mate - Dance on.
@@petergaston-danceandmore ha ha oky doke. Im thinking, I’m never going to be on a dance floor ever again at my age to use your new innovations so I guess it’s ok if gen whatever alphabet they’re at now wants to adopt it onto the original. Lol cheers 😁👍
@@jodienovello5881 😁🕺
Looks like you're mixing the macarena into the Nutbush.
Let's just keep it to the original 🤣
The "new" version was around well before the Macarena!
@@petergaston-danceandmore Not too sure I'd believe that.. I've been around almost 2 decades and I've never seen or heard of a "New" version.
So hard to believe there's been a "New" version dance that I nor anyone I've shown this to has heard of before 1993!
@@Royal_BloodLust No worries - Dance on!!
The f is that second thing?
Try it ...you might like it!
That’s the Macarena gone wrong dude - what you call the new version
Yeh - the Macarena was 1993, we were doing this one in the 80s...go figure.
So basically the dance is a mix of the Macarena and the nutbush...in which one of my church mates can do flawlessly
Yep - except this was around well before the Macarena! Cheers - Dance on!
The new version is like the Macarena
Yep - except it was around before the Macarena...which means it's not really that new..but it's newer than the old version😁
Just No .... Original is always the best
The new version isn’t so new. I was dancing this version in 2001.
Fair call Kate - I was doing it back in the 90's but it's "new" for most people who don't know it. Cheers
Yeah nah there's only one version and it is jumping, jumping and more jumping then out, cross, out turn.
i agree - my transition is not the official one. It should be out, cross, turn land out, together and clap on 4. Just did an interview on a current affair channel 9. 50th Anniversary of the song. Airs on Saturday 27/5
WOULD YOU PLEASE SELL ME THOSE NIKES YOU ARE WEARING??????
Mate - so sorry I think I wore them out and they are gone man🤔
Your "original" version turn is the criss cross turn, which is NOT the original version.
The new version is sinful.
Hahaha - what does that even mean? .... I love it
Fucken oath brotha
What?!?! There’s a new version?! Seriously?? Lol
When I say new ...I mean its only 35 years old compared to the original that is 45 years old!!😆
Can you at least make the steps 12 bars long to match the phrases of the song? It doesn't feel natural to do the kick, kick, jump, cross, jump, together in the middle of a lyric.
Don't blame me Matthew - I'm just showing you the alternate version, I didn't choreograph these - look at some of the dances I did make up like Hot Stuff, I will survive and I'm too sexy - they all work with the phrasing. Cheers Peter
I... I've never had such a negative and visceral reaction to anything in my life as I did to this 'new' version! I dont use the word much, but that... That's blasphemy mate
wow ...you need to get out more, I mean seriously, I didn't invent that "new" version and its been doing the rounds since the late 80s. I crack it out half way through the traditional song and the confusion on people's faces is priceless. Thanks for your feedback...Dance on!!
That is jumping not dancing...
Don't like the new version
Thanks for your feedback Doona!
If Ukranian troops blasted this out of loud speakers while doing the dance the Russians would surrender in droves and come over to their side!
Dancing beats fighting any time!!😎😎😎😎
