**MENTIONED THIS IN THE PREVIOUS VIDEOS BUT ITS YOUR OIL PUMP** Also: the 08-10’s had the first chains that were revised late 2010&up with double link chains. But replace your pump! That’s it! Lol reeeead this
@@donny6826 try using a different grade oil. I have noticed a bit of a difference doing that and by the time it was time to change the oil I would start to hear it a bit again. but yeah they’re all going to make noise because of the design but some less than others
@@J-YT99 I’m not saying it’ll fix his issue, I only suggested a solution I’ve done personally on my own Evo. No one knows the condition of his oil pump and how noisy it is. Noise that comes from these pumps just has to do with the gears inside and the oil clearances. Only way these pumps fail is obviously no oil, or extreme shock and the housing cracks.
Today is my birthday, I am now 18. Devin, you have inspired me to follow my dream, and that is being a mechanic and working on cars for a living. I want to thank you for sharing your experiences not just for me but everyone else. Thank you Devin Niemela.
It’s a trap lol mechanicing is fun man but be prepared I’ve been one for 10 hrs now and will just say welcome to the club start as a lube tech and build your tools up then move up positions as you feel fit
You really need to get a electric wratchet. Literally will save you so much frustration of getting into those tight spots where you don’t have to use a manual wratchet. You won’t regret getting one!
You can check the stretch on them without pulling anything off the front. Just pull the valve cover and put it at TDC. There’s a mark on the front cover that you can use to see if it’s stretched or not.
Hey Devin with the timing chain being that little bit longer can indeed cause lots of racket, being a Honda tech for many years have replaced lots of timing chains and on Honda’s they make noise and they aren’t any visibly longer like your evo one is. I think your gonna get it all figured with a new chain and guides, it doesn’t mean I’m comparing a 4b11 to a Honda K series however I have seen what a slight stretch on a timing chain can do noise wise. Keep up the good work!! 😁
An idea I do to every engine when working in the timing area is to put a paint line from the inside crankpulley to the outside of the crankpulley that way you can see if the outer part of the pulley is slipping even when fitting a new pulley just for future reference.
I have this exact same noise! Went crazy changing all my pulleys as well, then decided to go for a timing chain replacement as well haha I hope you figure this out! I'll be right there with ya.
Like other people are saying definitely your oil pump I’ve had it before with a couple evo’s first one took ages to diagnose but apparently it’s quite common on the 10’s
What’s up dude, your videos are pretty legit and informative, just a thought for you to think about, but with my experience (not this engine specifically) I’ve had a handful of noises like this and 80% of the time they were from the sump (oil pump)
From the sound its sounds like the chain has stretched a little and is slapping the guides as it moves. It wouldn't be a bad idea to change the guides aswell to prevent having to go back in later.. Just my thoughts
Love these videos and I'm buying these shirts ill be on the website first thing in the morning !!! And hopefully that takes care of the issue definitely gives me pointers on how to do mine if I need to lol
newer car ,better interior, makes more power easier, cheaper, can buy one thats unmolested. the list goes on depending on what you want out of the car.
I have always wanted a evo x but your videos open my eyes to the issues they may have, have you ever had an issue with the SST gearbox or do you avoid these?

Thanks a lot dude! I have the same noise too! 🙏
Yep did my timing chain and it still made that noise. Definitely the oil pump

@@Jeremy_EvoX um no that horrible advice. if the oil pump if actually failing it needs replacement before it causes catastrophic engine damage.

It's your oil pump , had same noise !
Mine is developing the same sound.

Man, I was glad you were enjoying your vacation, but I hated how long I had to wait for an upload. Welcome back!
Are you gay or something
@@alexmurillo8447 I just enjoy the content. No need to project, man.
@@rainman2725 I love you 😘
Thanks for breaking up the vacation for us, dude in the comments says he had the same noise and it was the oil pump

Those are a lifesaver
Milwaukee baby!
I literally thought you were going to say you and Bobbi were breaking up in the beginning. My heart sunk for a second
For real me too
When you first started it up it really did sound like a timing chain .. have fun on your vacation

Lowkey sounded like your oil pump though
Dude you need to get a Milwaukee right angle impact it’s the most useful tool there is
The first week When I first bought my e46, it started vibrating, and I found 6 small bolt loos on the harmonic balancer, that was a great easy fix

I helped my friend when he had this same issue on his 08 and it was the timing chain. Once we swapped it out we didn’t hear it again. Hope this helps!
Thank you Professor !

Nice episode, a little unpleasing what the issue concerns, but that keeps up the tension till your next vid... have a great vacation🤙
Hell yeah! Happy 420k subs🤙

God damn I fuckin love this man.
Yes sir!! Stretched!
loving the evo content...I'll looking for a 4g63t motored car soon, Keep up the solid work!
dam gotta love those evos just got my lancer 08 lowered need those sick lights
I think the chain is stretched, but the tensioner could be stuck too
I am glad to see you also work on dirty cars.

Looks like the single link chain in the car. New one is the updated one so I think you're good.
Have fun in Mexico 🇲🇽 💯🔥💯
Did you check the water pump? I had a similar noise on my car but is a Toyota Ractis when I've changed the water pump it solved it
Love these videos and I'm buying these shirts ill be on the website first thing in the morning !!! And hopefully that takes care of the issue definitely gives me pointers on how to do mine if I need to lol
Oil pump. My dad work on this on his EvoX :)
Bro the timing chain makes that noise. What happens it gets loos and than the the chain hits the guides.. also check the balance shaft
Oil pump?
I love your evo 10 and the Gray is nice
yaya slacking devin, feel like ive been waiting days lmao
@Dennis Moroz it's just a joke big guy, I'm disappointed it went over your head lol
Haha right?
Just a quick question, do you happen to have some used evo x crankshaft?
Hi man. It is your oil pump.
Oh boy. Don't give me more ideas now Devin lol. I already fixed my transmission.
Never knew why people go for the EVO X over the earlier 8s and 9s.
because it’s their choice, not yours :)
Over here 7,8,9s are 40-65k but the x is 26-35k
newer car ,better interior, makes more power easier, cheaper, can buy one thats unmolested. the list goes on depending on what you want out of the car.
+1 for oil pump!
Please read Jeremy Martinez comment!! It's your oil pump!!
Hello. Can you tell us the rim model of your evo 8 vehicle or does anyone know that model here?
I just moved to Mérida Mexico loving it so far . just hot 🥵
I think it might be the oil pump Devin!
maybe is the oil pump sound similar to a powersteering pump going bad
I have always wanted a evo x but your videos open my eyes to the issues they may have, have you ever had an issue with the SST gearbox or do you avoid these?
It’s might just be the crankshaft bearing ?
do have rear diff in the blue evo
Yea do pump too while you in it
Check your oil pump
Bro you stuck your whole tongue in the water bottle😂
Maybe oil pump?
Just listened to the noise, and before finding out what it is in the video I’m going to guess it’s your oil pump making the noise
Lets go 💯
It's your oil pump.... I have no idea.. but that's common theory...
Oil pump time!!
*******OIL PUMP bro*******!! Had same noise on my mates Evo!!

Sounds like your oil pump!
Yo devin has anybody told you you look like dobby from paradise pd 😂
Honestly to me it looked like that pulley was unbalanced when it was spinning
Dame its 4 AM over here but i got the knock so i jet.
