The thing with the blade in the middle is a grader. It's used to smooth out loose road material either as a finishing step or repair to dirt or gravel roads, or as the last step in preparing the subsurface for pavement.

We use them a lot in Australia in rural areas, dirt roads get graded once a year or so to get rid of potholes (that's the idea but to do it properly you need to use a roller as well and yeah... potholes are normally back within a month plus you have about a week of exciting cornering because the whole top layer of the road is now loose)

Each stick of dynamite requires a gig of RAM to render. It makes complete sense with those detailed models.
I mean you know that they render each atom of dynamite individually, right? The fact that you only see the outer shell doesn't stop the devs from reaching perfection!
I think the ground generation "feature" might be related to the non-auto demolish option. Instead of the developers just installing invulnerable hit boxes, they took the hard road with an auto-regenerate feature. In essence, structures you build are demolished and then instantaneously resurrected, but the ground is restored plus the loose debris that should have been generated.
That just sounds like a poorly coded game at this point.

Out of ore is a perfect game where RCE goes out of his mind , and Matt( his childish version) thinks out of the box ideas . Matt is really loving this , I can telling from his voice . Not gonna lie , seeing sorry hearing happy rce noises makes my day . Makes me happy , makes me smile 😃.
I think the explosive might have a explosion radius that will stay the same even if you stack more on top of eachother so if you want a big hole you might have to explode them separately. 🙂

You can turn off the vehicle destroying stuff thing, it's exactly the button you thought it was, also the max limit thing might be because of all your dozers and excavators, try selling them maybe?

Those graders (machine with the blade underneath) are really common here in Australia, used to maintain dirt roads, smooth out potholes and set the crown for drainage. Generally not used to cut the road in the first place.

This game has so much potential. Very buggy, which makes for hilarious content. But if this game gets fleshed out and fine tuned it’ll be an amazing play.

When you blow up a high explosive underground it absolutely does leave a larger volume of debris behind. There is a really cool video from Andrew Camarata that just came out called Blasting a Pond. They start with a slight indentation in the ground (basically the topsoil was scraped off of an area) and finish with a sizeable hill of crushed rock that fills what will someday be a pond.
You can turn off the destruction on the conveyor belt so you don’t break them whenever you touch it with the loader!
Did you test if the explosives kill you and/or destroy the detonator?
If they don't, just stand in one place, drop and pop.

Devs dont give you game keys because they want you to play them and show them off to get people interested. They give you games so you can break them in ways no game tester would ever think to
It's called a "grader" or sometimes a "level grader" If it was a wood working tool it would be called a "finishing plane". It's normally used to level the layer of road foundation material, usually "pea stone" or gravel. It doesn't work very well as a plow or bull dozer, and the ground has to be nearly flat or smooth for it to work. Your evaluation that it can create the super-elevation for a curved road is 100% correct and can be set to hold a specific angle in the controls.

The road scraper would be used for leveling the road. We use them in the US to fix gravel roads once they get wash boards.

The machine you used at 18:31 is used a lot in quebec to remove small quantities of snow form roads during the winter, we have better ones too for when there is a lot more snow but it can remove now up to a certain level. Search for « road snow removal quebec » and you will find all the machinery we use in quebec to remove the snow form roads, since we get a lot so we got pretty inventive and repurposed construction gears during the winter when otherwise they wouldn’t do much
RDX stand for royal demolition explosive. there is also HMX which stands for 'her majesties explosive'. Trust me, I'm a chemist.
you might like to hear that since youve been gone the Dev added a nuke. lots of other improvements along the way, The games community would love to see you come back! Also there should be a big update coming in the next month or so that completely reworked building and alot of other things.
This reminds me of when subnautica was first released and the terraformer broke the game because it had to work so hard to calculate all the destructible terrain. They ended up just removing it entirely because it was so freaking taxing on the hardware you ran it on.

Saw another video, you can "drive" the vehicles and it teleports you to them from one of the menus so you don't have to run back and forth.

To be fair, using dynamite to create a giant pillar of dirt out of nowhere is pretty reality-breaking, I must say.
You being an engineer, you should play factorio, it's a top down factory game with TONNES of mods to help (or screw) yourself for HOURS of entertaining gameplay. And it is at full release so no need to worry about losing saves or deal with WIP stuff
You can upgrade the tracks and tires for your machines, was wondering if that would stop you from sliding around, while trying to dig. I don't own this game, just saw someone else upgrade the machines.

I use ANFO for work in Australia in underground mines. That stuff is no joke it blows shit up very nicely 👌
the vehicle at 18:01 is called a "Motor Grader",it a self propelled grader that is used as ether the first or last step in building a road. its sole purpose is to actually flatten out the road area,the big blade under the middle is to me set at angle to send the dirt out the side. from what i know,they are indeed present in the United Kingdom,although maybe not as much as in places such as North America. also i think its funny how almost no one can name it or say what it does,ive seen it be called a crane before,ive seen someone say its another form of road roller,ive even seen someone call it a forklift.
Currently in school for mechanical engineering and so far weirdly the hardest part has been dealing with English comp because it's so picky and has little to do with the engineering.
that would be a grater. we usually use it to level out road or base for roads. before hand be normally use bull dozers to move dirt to get it to where it approximately be.
Use the hook on the back of the dozer to prep roads, then run the dozer or other vehicle to flatten it. You got it next episode

Maybe there is a limit for the items that you can have in the inventory, so you if you got rid of the other stuff, you would have more space for dinamyte.

if you want to have some items quickly you can use the shift cheat. You buy 2 items and you use left-shift with LMB sliding the item in your inventory. It give you half number of the item that you keep and can add to have infinit stuff :)
I always figured it was like mail order stuff, it'd be like finding an Amazon truck in Fallout.

You can enable an option so your excavator doesn’t break everything!
You can buy tracks for the excavator and dozer, and tires for the other vehicles, in the store. I haven’t figured out if it helps traction but I think it does.
The Chariton G160 is for grading the slope of roadways. It's a near final step in building roads.

I have never commented here before, but I had an aunt and have an uncle who were civil engineers, both built roads and bridges and whatnot in Dubai in the 80's . The aunt succumbed to COVID unfortunately she was the one in my family that was on an intellectual level lol her husband my uncle is teaching at university level but has not achieved tenure like he should have. I enjoy the heck out of your content but I think I may have to go into the timberborners wheel of shame as an admirer of Frank Lloyd Wright. His designs are amazing and each a feat of engineering. You can turn of destruction. I think it's in the vehicle menu or the regular inventory. But it's in the top left
I think this thing (called a Grader) isn't the right tool for making a road... It might not be the first step, but it indeed is the right tool for the job.

It's funny how living in different areas changes the things you know. You've been in Engineering field your adult life and never knew what a grader was, but I grew up in timber country US and graders were everywhere to make logging roads but I don't know shit about Engineering

You don't have road graders in the UK? Very common in the US. They're used to cut in the finish grade after other machines get it close. I've seen them used as snowplows too.

The RAM issue is probably related to the terraforming, which happens to a lot of games with 3D terraforming in it. It's a nice thing, but impossible to optimize.
