Think this is the first time it really shows in a video. When Matt says I don't like you right now was funny, if the audio of those were easier to hear, it would be even better. It's great watching the experienced crew really taking lead. No wonder matts getting to take holidays.

This is why I don’t hate on e bikes. My dad and I went for a ride when I was in peak shape a few years ago, and I had to pull my daughter in a trailer to make it even 😂. E bike would be great for him.

And I can understand his comment about his bones. I rode motocross (so long ago it was still called scrambling) and I'd usually fall off at least once every weekend. By the time I was Matt's age, and racing on tarmac, it hurt sooooo much more when I fell off.

@@padmeamidala4883 I'm not sure if it was really Matt at fault on the recovery ! By looking at the terrain and the conditions of it there probably wasn't any other way to get out of there . Of course he could've just picked it up at the start also !

Riding with him on his ebike has never been more fun for me. Now we can ride at the same pace comfortably. You’re a solid rider. He watched the video with Seth and said you’re a very solid rider. Hope you stick with it. If you’re ever in Tucson, check out Old Pueblo MTB. Solid, like minded, ebike friendly people will show you lots of trails in Tucson.

One day my sons were out in the front yard with their friends having a competition to see if any of them could bunny over two skateboards.
I said let me break out the old Mongoose Pro Class and put some air in the tires and see what I can do. They laughed.
I walked over and stacked 3 high interlocked on their sides to make it much higher. Cleared it with room to spare 1st try. Their mouths dropped. They said how did you do that. I said oh by the way this old guy grew up racing BMX in the 80's. It was a fun day. Lol

Katelynn: being blond with blue eyes, think about wearing some kinda hat with a brim, shields your eyes. I have the same issue with my boys, they think we are old useless, when I end up doing something they didn't think I could, they are so impressed. The classic dichotomy Dads and sons.

    • @neilfromclearwaterfl81
      @neilfromclearwaterfl81 8 місяців тому +5

@chadjmoore - Same here. Since I am almost 70 and need a cane to get around they put straps on my pedals and put me in front so they could keep an eye on me. I kept telling them to go past and not let me hold them up as pedaling mostly with one leg I felt I was slowing them down and spoiling their fun. Ended up losing them because I had to keep momentum going so I wouldn't be stopping constantly and then they gave up trying to follow taking the children's bypass. Had to wait for 15 minutes at the end of the trailhead for them to catch up. Their friends won't let them live down not being able to keep up with their elderly crippled Dad on the intermediate trail.
They're finally learning (at almost 40) that Old and Disabled does not necessarily mean Incapable, just that your working under a different set of limitations and work arounds. I tease them like any good Dad should and tell them it's simply because... "They just don't make young folks like they use to". ;>
      Best!

Man I miss mountain bikes. I used to race XC growing up with an 06' Kona Kula. I still have an 07 Stinky on the wall that could probably survive a day on the seals. It was refreshed in 2012ish with everything aside from the frame. I think the last lap I had on that bike was 2021. I really miss MTB but it will be a while before I can afford a six inch AM rig. I'm also still trying to put together an old hand built XC hardtail with 100-120 up front, 26 inch wheels, 135 mm hubs, 1 1/8 steer, 68/73 mm BB, and I'll figure out the brakes. I want that Stinky to stay together so I'm not robbing parts yet. It'd be super cool to ride on that frame again one day. And I'm still in touch with the dude who built that frame, so I'd also love to tell him it's back on the trail with a decent build. Maybe someday. It's like piecing together an antique at this point.

4:43 That whole slow sequence says a lot about the wrecker that Matt built from bare steel. It just dug in won the day. Super cool. Too bad the 'pinning' of the frame to be an air tank didn't work out.

Matt, I've been watching for awhile. It paid off this past weekend. I was driving on "greasy" mud and sliding all over, but managed to not slide into the ditch or worse. 😃

I started riding Enduro bike again (KTM300) at 56. Last did that when I was 18. Was also surprised that I could still do it. Obviously not as agile as my son and his buddies but having loads of fun. Beats playing couch potato any day.

Matt it was good to see you attempt bike riding . It's so easy to sit behind the wheel on a nice comfy seat and cruise up and down those while the motor does all the work and believe me motors and transmissions do a lot of work but when you got to do the transmission and motor work yourself that's a different story but it was good to see you try it. It certainly made my opinion of you grow😮😅

Editor, good job trying to mitigate the wind rumble with the bike wrap up. Even with a Rycote Windjammer on an MKH 416, sometimes you can't get it clean from the field.

Really glad you did not suffer any serious injuries Matt when you took the tumble off the bike. Also hope you did not have too many cactus thorns to deal with. That Bronco recovery was a bit more difficult to deal with than it first looked like. Mainly because the searing was so much out of it. Both went pretty well all things considered.

Entertaining video, as always. I've been 4-wheeling in Colorado and mounting biking around Fruita, but I've never done anything like this kind of wheeling. Watching you guys is making me want to build a competent rig.
