When she and he were gonna have their first time, she saw her own naked reflection in the mirror, and saw that her body was all skin and bones due to her sickness. The man didn't care about that, but she was so embarrassed and devastated by the sight, she cried heartbreakingly. After seeing that, my confidence in her survival dropped to almost zero. My heart couldn't take it, so I ditched the manga and pretended she will be alive by the end of the series. 😢

after watching like 2min of this vid, i got pretty interested and went to go read the manga. here’s what i think of chapters released so far (i’ll try to keep it spoiler free): -the artwork is really really fluid and just stunning! -the idea behind the story is actually pretty interesting! -however, the execution of the story in some places is lacking. not sure if it’s because i read it in a single day but the story is all over the place and gets kinda confusing tbh -37 chapters in and i feel like there’s very little character development for both satoko and goto. maybe it’s just me, but i just can’t understand what the characters’ intentions are? especially for goto, sometimes it felt like he was just a ‘supporting character’ for satoko rather than someone who we can actually get an insight into. personally im really interested in his background and motivations!
I read up to chapter 42 and for me the character development is quite good here. ****Spoiler alert**** She has changed from a shelter girl fixated on arranged marriage to someone who can voice her desire and try to achieve it. He also changed a lot by stopping killing people and learning proper etiquette to fit in with the world outside the island, the guard guy chose to forfeit his selfish love to support her happiness. It's quite satisfying for me
