You are spot on!!! I had a 2850 kv tp power motor in my limitless V2 I had issues so I had to get a 1100 spcktrum firma 8s and I’m getting 123 mph 34 pinion 39 spur mamba monster x 8s esc
Whats a good gearing for the 2400kv CC. Currently at 45/28 limitless v2 i get excessive amps. I noticed when i had new foams it doesn't take the punch drag hit off the line but when i put some used foams and do a drag hit screams off the line.

SAGA r/c has 8mm mod1 pinions/spurs that will work for rhe gear on the spool. I’ve used the Arrma spool gears on an Xmaxx.
if im runnning a castle 1717 1650kv on the v2 roller, what is a good gearing setup for bashing and drag? I have a 32t pinion would be running 8s currently..
This is really a personal preference based on your setup and running conditions.
Im having an issue with my v1 😢i have a 1717 motor withVERY good cooling fans, the Castle mamba 8x paired with two 4s batteries with a 120c rating... i even have a cap pack on it and i cannot seem to hit more than 80mph ! Can you advice pleaseeeeeeee?

Hello, i hesitating about buy Limitless V2 and put there 1650Kv big Block castle motor from XO-1 with Max6 ESC. Is possible to fit smallest 32T pinion with stock 39T spur, when 49mm diameter motor is installed? I will run only on 6S as maximum. Mostly 4S. Im not sure that 32/39 combination is for 40-49 whole range of motor diameters. I Know that for 56mm motor is 32 so small, bud im not sure in 49.
Hey Martin, if you download the manual from the website for the v2, pg 19 has a chart with specs that may help you out. At least you'll have more insight as to what size and gears are possible.
I got a v2 limitless I will be running a max5 esc and a 1100kv motor on 8s gearing i got is a 34-39 does that sound like it would work
I don't have the patreon Calc sheet up but that should be a fast setup. I also don't know how good that esc is. Never used one.
I have to admit, I was not happy when I found this out. Esp since arrma has done nothing to resolve the issue. { larger spool gears]. I decided to go with the Trident drive shafts and spools Gonna add a 48 tooth gear. Like you said, give it some versiltality. Great video! And great info!!
I have the Limitless V2 with 1717 and xlx2 and 39p/34s and esc keeps beeping one short 2 long beeps. Is it overgeared??? Cuts off after one run...
I believe that beep code is excessive load. It detects this by current spikes. What theoretical speed are you geared for?

Just bought the v2 roller and got the castle 2028 1700kv with xlx2. Im gonna start as low as I can with the 39t and its probably gonna be pretty damn fast. 46t spurs are available though.

34t spur/27t pinion with the 1717 1650 motor was the smallest that would fit my infraction. I guess the motor mount on the v2 is different?
I was suprised. I thought id be able to use the same gearing as my infraction but nope.
Did you ever look in the manual page 19? There is a nice table with possible gear combination for all 3 different motor mounts and default spur gears.
That chart shows the limitations.
I can't remember what I said in the video but I do know that the smallest pinion with the largest spur gear is no where close to where this motor needs to be for the more typical setup. I believe the chart would show something like 32/39 as the largest ratio. That is 1.22:1, crazy !!!
@@RCexplained limitations, yes. Why did you print all these gears below 32T then? 39T spur gear matches to 32T-52T pinion gear. If the table would be wrong, ok. But wasting all this time to show the obvious?
Easy result: use low Kv motors.
Are you suggesting to replace the $240 speed run motor for a lower Kv motor? Wouldn't getting the right gearing be a lot more sensible and cost effective? Not to mention high Kv motors such as the one going to be used are purposely designed for speed run cars.
@@RCexplained I would suggest to not waste 1/4 of your video to demonstrate the obvious AND THEN switch to "calculation" for the really working stuff.
If you want to reuse your $240 speed run motor (oh, so expensive, you will never buy a new one, LOL), change to spur gear XYZ. And, since when are you forced to use 100% throttle???
Also, there is a reason why ARRMA designed it like this which you happily ignore.
That’s weird I wonder if they changed the v2 motor mount I had a 1717 with a 27/34 gearing it barely made a good mesh but still that’s a crazy difference

I had a similar problem with my V1 Skyline Limitless! DID YALL KNOW that the motor plate from the Felony and Infraction is a DIFFERENT motor plate?! I found that out through the ARRMA Forum… with the felony motor plate, you’ll be able to have a minimal total tooth count of 62. If you search for buying that motor plate, there is NO specific information on the product description about those detail! It will only say..,
“ fits the Felony Infraction ”

I changed my spool to a 40 tooth on my V1 and a 42 tooth on my V2. That opened up my gearing options. They are not on Horizon’s website. If you get on eBay you can find them
I have a 42T on the V1. Will have a 44T or 45T on the V2. It's in the mail still.
I have the 46 t spool with a 27t pinion gear and I’m hitting 111 mph XLX2 and tp 4070 2200 kv motor 🎉 finding longer street still can do little bit more

Just need larger spool gears. We can get larger 8mm bore pinion gears to work.

I wonder if they changed the mount on the v2. I have the v1 limitless & a Typhon 6S. I'm currently running the 1721 2400kv in the Typhon 6S & I'm running a 40T spur with a 34T pinion. It fits perfectly, but it's also the largest gear combo I can squeeze in there.
As for spur gears, I use Saga gears, I just adjust the spacing by adding a washer to the spool. I did a video earlier this summer covering how to modify the spool to fit the 8mm bore Saga gear onto it.
Mount on the V2 is changed. I used 8mm Mod1 pinions as spools. works well and will have to do this on the V2 as well.
I'm still amazed nobody has brought a CVT transmission to the hobby market yet
There really isn't much of an advantage in a CVT for what we do but it would be cool to see!
After your explanation you should do a run and compare. Things on paper always look easier then the real world.

use a lower kv motor like the spektrum 1250 kv or castles 1100 kv( if it will fit) problem solved, but you want the 2400kv motor so swop the spool gear out

Just ran into this issue with my v2 roller smallest gear I can go with is 32 Im running a 1717 1650kv motor now that I see it's geared for 140 I'm like wow I don't need that much speed

Do they make V2 parts already? I don't think different mounts are necessary. I can just swap gears and I'm good.
I just love my scorched mount. It’s a thing of beauty, just another level compared to other brands. Zero flex in the motor to the chassis and every time a perfect mesh without change after screwing it tight.
@@RCexplained You are right. V2 stock mount I can use between 22 to 43 tooth pinions using a 49 tooth 8mm pinion as a spur gear. 2200kv. Haven't tested but looking for a 100mph or so to start with. Thank you for your help.
I'm dropping xlx2 1100kv castle 2028 in mine but I plan on smoking the tires and bashing with it
did the 1100kv motor fit>? i thought the 1100kv was 112mm long.

Could just watch Raz Shifrin he’s used this motor and gone through the spurs and pinions to see what it can do
Raz is a professional who sets up his vehicle perfect based on many factors. If the average top speed guy duplicates his efforts it can be successful. If not, it could be costly $$$
@@RCexplained Agreed, but imo you have (although I get your explaining the many factors involved and your teaching in a way) over complicated things. Your using a motor that comes with a disclaimer from Castle that, if anything goes boom you have no warranty! You could stick a MAX6 and a 1650 from Hobbywing and as you have just said "Raz who's a pro" be way safer and if anything goes boom your more than likely covered by warranty. You see so many Castle systems catching fire so if your making it safe for your average person with little knowledge of speed running surely it makes sense to go with a far less sensitive system that can handle mistakes or not?

Change out the motor mount
So, its been over a year. Is there a known technique to fabricate something so I can drop in a standard 50t diff out of the Arrma 6s line? This is BS, I dont want to go more than 110mph. I want a street basher that is an F1 type car, and the lack of a large spur forces you into having a straight speed run car. What about the rest of us? Anyone got anything solid? If not I'm hitting EBAY to find a used V1 instead of a new V2
I can't think of any advantage of a V2 over a V1 for what you plan to do with it. Either way, I'm sure you can plan a power system to do what you are looking for.
@@RCexplained I did some research and what I found is that if you get shafts from scorched rc, you can use the 50t center diff in the V2. I saw a video that was just wicked. When you originally said diff, this threw me off. The Limitless does not use a center diff and as such I was thinking front/rear.
Completely changing out the center spool drive seems like the most expensive option to put a weaker solution in there. I'm referring to MOD 0.8 pitched gearing. The shafts themselves will be strong.

This solution will allow for a 45T pinion used as a spur gear. I have not tested anything larger. But as I said in my first message, I don't see how this (cheaper solution) would not work for you. Somewhere around 4s 1800Kv using 27/45 gearing should get you around 65mph top speed.
@@RCexplained And don't get me wrong, I respect your work. I just thought that all options would be on the table. I've learned that this hobby needs deep pockets to "do what you want". Although the gearing is "weaker" on mod 0.8, it should still get the job done. I've never stripped gears unless the motor moves. Titanium motor mount screws are mandatory on all builds. The option to tune the center diff would making cornering more pleasurable in my view. 24t pinion with a 50t center diff should be a tire smoking, drifting, hard accelerating monster. This is where we diverge on opinion. I'm also looking at designing a 3d printed bolt on floor to get high downforce without the drag with weather stripping side skirts. I don't know if you're into that, but when Arrma used the term "Limitless" I take that to heart.

Have you checked out “Raz Shifrin’s” videos? I think he’s actually gotten up to like 200mph on his Limitless. He does a lot of tweaking his builds to try to get the best top speed possible. 🤷🏻♂️👍💯
I don't believe raz has hit 200mph. James McCoy is the speedrun 👑 and he's hit 204mph a few times and in a much shorter distance than raz has
198 I think he’s hit or 199 . I know in one of his recent videos (last few months) he hit that high speed

is the Center Diff, 46T compatible on the Limitless V2 ? ARA310989. With some reassembly to accommodate the shorter dog-bones ?

No... diff mount spacing is different on the V2 than the V1

Your not taking into consideration voltage drop, even with the best batteries you will never hit even close to those theoretical speeds.

@@RCexplained That may be but your numbers are still off, I have this RC and I would love it to go past 200 mph but this is not easy and the difference in gearing between V1 and V2 is not a big deal and if it were the gears are cheap compared to a big block motor, ESC, batteries and the other small details that are required.
