No one thought that Ukrainians will do as well as the do, they are slapping ruSSians so hard, that's difficult to believe. It's just epic, what they are able to do. But it's logical, that ruSSians will get them, here and there.
Hard questions need to be asked and unflinchingly answered. Excellent analysis here. But I can't help but to wonder what the situation would look like if the Ukrainians had the air power necessary to fully implement Western military doctrine.
Yes absolutely correct. 💯 thanks for watching heart. I think we are largely seeing a version of Nato without air power (3rd assault brigade near Bakhmut is a great example)...but now and again we see some horrifically soviet efforts which makes me sad. Thanks for watching my friend.

And yet Urkaine has been sending its officers to the US for training since 2010. Vol. 63, No. 2, SPRING/SUMMER 2010, Rethinking Russia Journal of International Affairs
You´ve grabbed a hot potato full-on with this one! 😂I´d like to share my two cents. I remember reading an account from a former British soldier with Ukrainian roots who had volunteered to fight for Ukraine in 2014. His conclusion was that both armies were basically Soviet, inefficient and brutal, with the Russian army being slightly better equipped, organised and motivated. I was providing humanitarian relief last year on both sides of the Polish-Ukrainian border. I had the opportunity to speak with volunteers from various countries who had fought in the Ukrainian army in 2022. Their general take was that both armies were were still basically Soviet, inefficient and brutal, with the Ukrainian army being slightly better motivated, more flexible and imaginative. I remember seeing that first attack you mention and wondering who was responsible for an evident clusterf*ck. Since then, very few similar videos have come out, indicating that they have modified their approach. According to Ukrainian sources, they have adapted small-scale probing attacks, precisely to minimise losses in manpower, and this seems to be borne by open source data. Which results in the remarkable situation of the defending side having the same losses as the attacking side. You might have heard of recent German criticism of precisely such small-scale attacks by the Ukrainans. With all due respect and gratitude, the last time the German army attacked fortified positions was in 1943, and it didn´t end terribly well. Right now, the Ukrainian armed forces have more experience and knowledge of fighting a peer-level opponent than anyone else in the world. And maybe the Soviet legacy is not entirely negative. The Red Army in 1945 was the most powerful land army the world has ever known. They went from the disasters in 1941 to annihilating Army Group Centre in 1944 during Operation Bagration, and in 1945 were able to effectively take out in several days the Japanese Kwantung Army, with over a million men. Overall, the Soviet system stank, but let´s not throw the baby out with the bathwater. There is some wisdom and knowledge in there, particularly when it comes to fighting large wars.
The Germans had already finished off Russia, but then came Russia's best friend, the USA, to fight for them. And don't forget all the war material given to Russia by USA, like 25 thousand fighters, etc. .
@@jeffersonaraldi7168 sorry, no. First, the USSR is not Russia. Only just over half of the soldiers in the Red Army were from Russia (about a fifth of them were from Ukraine). Second, the Red Army stopped the Wehrmacht at the gates of Moscow when their only ally was the UK, the US wasn´t even involved in the war. Even after the Normandy landings, 4 in 5 soldiers were fighting on the Eastern Front. Lend-lease was massive, and the Red Army would not have been able to fight the way it did without huge logistical support from Western countries. But the Red Army learned to fight, and inflicted about 80% of the casualties the Germans suffered during the war.
@@catsnads01 Yes, lend-lease was massive, and started long before America entered the war!! And the Russians were very lucky: The extremely snowy Winter stopped the Germans at Moscow's gate. Anyway without the USA Russia would be toast: Note how the West, again, refuses to neutralise "Holy Mother Russia".

I dont have the facilities or equipment to do it justice. Believe it or not, I am not a wealthy person. There are other reasons, but I think those are the most important.
To me it seems like overconfidence doomed them here. Yes, it is true they dug their nails into Ruszian skin, but from what I saw here, many Ukrainian units were new and junior, trying to face an enemy, despite being underequipped and poorly trained, was experienced and had 3 extremely heavy layers of defence. And unlike other fronts, the southern fronts of Kherson and Zaporizhiya did not see much fighting that wasn't in their favour, so more of the experienced soldiers still exist. The logistics lines here are also relatively undisrupted, but the Storm Shadow is changing that.
In terms of overconfidence the western weapons were sold as WONDER WEAPONS so HEAVILY... who can blame the soldiers and officers for thinking the same.
