Cool Johnny, certainly beats dynos on the old Heights wall. One supposes having a slightly lower centre of gravity than back in the day assists. Rock on mate.
Thanks a million dude and Johnny + I had plans for another filming project this year but it may now have to wait until 2021. I hope you're keeping safe and well and all! :-) Cheers Dave
I love this! Johnny was and remains such an inspiration. Thanks for this wonderful video. I remember back when I started climbing in the 80's there was a lot of interest in Lundy. Gary Gibson was prolific there I recall.
Hey Paul thanks million for your kind words and I'm delighted you enjoyed my wee video. I should be teaming up with Johnny in 2021 to make another film, but in the meantime you may enjoy the Chalkstorm vid I made with him a couple of years ago which you can find in my recent you tube videos. Merry Xmas! Dave
+John Byrne many thanks and Johnny has and still inspires generations of climbers! And the EB's were a halcyon trip down memory lane but still did the job for the grandmaster of balance... :-) Cheers Dave
For sure Vegeek and Johnny still has impeccable technique to this day! On the day I filmed this the wind got stronger and stronger the higher up the slide Johnny got, just to add to the difficulty of him keeping balance... :-) Cheers Dave
Great vid, with a true legend. Saw the man climb a few times in his peak and he was extraordinary, like he had his own gravity! Great to see him still doing the business.
Hey Terry thanks a million for taking the time to post your kind words and hopefully I should be teaming up with Johnny again in 2020 to film another vid with him so watch this space! :-) Cheers Dave
+Freddy Rassinger many thanks for taking the time to post your positive feedback and it was an amazing piece of skill by the grandmaster of balance on a pretty blustery day. The climb is graded HS 4b for a normal ascent but Johnny thought it may be E6 6b without hands! However he may have had his tongue firmly stuck in his cheek... :-) Cheers Dave
Awesome filming. Next stop blue planet Dave. Popping out for a walk brings on a whole new meaning. Btw whats with the one dislike. Having climbed this route several times i understand what i have just seen.
+Andrew hill hey thanks a million for taking the time to post your positive words as it is muchly appreciated and makes those loooong hours of editing all worthwhile! It was a privilege to watch and film a master of balance at work and some serious ninja skills on display by Johnny! :-) Cheers Dave
+Boblinky with fantastic balance, movement, footwork, sorcery and jedi warrior skills! Thanks for posting and I'm glad you enjoyed my wee video! :-) Cheers Dave
Note quite as attractive as some of your videos, David, but some fine drone flying and video none the less. And, conceptually, as the title says. Craziness!
They did, tho' I have a feeling he could do it in carpet slippers. I'm just stunned anyone's still got a pair hanging about, and if they have, that they're not rotted through! Thanks for the video. Lovely. He's a (climbing) national treasure.
They're mine! I first climbed in them about 1989. Long since stopped climbing so donated them via a friend. DIdn't expect to see them again. I know they're mine because of the funky laces :-)
+James Wright I'm sure you are right and Johnny did consider going solo, but it was a blustery day making it too dangerous. Anyway Mr Dawes is indeed a legend, a great guy and lots of fun too! :-) Cheers Dave
Those boots were made for walking Jim! Please feel free to subscribe as I have another vid I'm currently editing of Johnny on another short "walk" coming out soon... :-) Cheers Dave
Hi SCYTHE2525 Johnny was wearing EB's (Super Gratton I think) which were a French brand of climbing shoe that were very popular in the 70's! Hope you enjoyed the vid! :-) Cheers Dave
No worries Robert, hopefully Johnny and I are teaming up for another filming project soon and if you have missed it check out my "Chalkstorm hands free" vid I made with him! :-) Cheers Dave
A true beauty... thanks a lot. Johnny is a true inspiration
Many thanks for the positive vibes Alessandro. Johnny is an absolute legend and still climbing very well to this day! :-) Cheers Dave
Cool Johnny, certainly beats dynos on the old Heights wall. One supposes having a slightly lower centre of gravity than back in the day assists. Rock on mate.
Thanks Ooot & Aboot and Johnny is still rocking hard to this day. Hope you enjoyed my wee vid! Cheers Dave

Thanks a million for your positive vibes Wunff and Johnny is still going very well and strong to this day! :-) Cheers Dave
Loving the retro EBs!
+ David Gough yep Mr Dawes did a superlative job in those EB's! Those boots were made for walking... ;-) Cheers Dave
@@chdslDave EBs? Not as good as the guy who used to custom build them for your feet in Bethesda back in the day! Now how many remember him?
The legend that is - Johnny Dawes
He's still got some jedi ninja skills!
Chalk bag and ropes are great sense of humor. Brilliant.
Thanks a million dude and Johnny + I had plans for another filming project this year but it may now have to wait until 2021. I hope you're keeping safe and well and all! :-) Cheers Dave

JD is wonderfully inspiring and what a nostalgia trip seeing the EB's. Great film, many thanks.
+John Byrne many thanks and Johnny has and still inspires generations of climbers! And the EB's were a halcyon trip down memory lane but still did the job for the grandmaster of balance... :-) Cheers Dave
A legend. Way more diffiult than it looked.
For sure Vegeek and Johnny still has impeccable technique to this day! On the day I filmed this the wind got stronger and stronger the higher up the slide Johnny got, just to add to the difficulty of him keeping balance... :-) Cheers Dave

Love the full-figured Dawes - the Don Whillans de nos jours (and where the f*ck did he find those EBs?)
+Kevin Dawson those EB's did the business in blustery conditions for Mr Dawes! :-) Cheers Dave
They did, tho' I have a feeling he could do it in carpet slippers. I'm just stunned anyone's still got a pair hanging about, and if they have, that they're not rotted through! Thanks for the video. Lovely. He's a (climbing) national treasure.
+Kevin Dawson ha ha Johnny could probably do the walk in flip flops! Many thanks for taking the time to post your kind feedback! :-) Cheers Dave
They're mine! I first climbed in them about 1989. Long since stopped climbing so donated them via a friend. DIdn't expect to see them again. I know they're mine because of the funky laces :-)

I'm pretty sure Johnny would have done this without a safety rope 20 years ago! 😂What a legend!
+James Wright I'm sure you are right and Johnny did consider going solo, but it was a blustery day making it too dangerous. Anyway Mr Dawes is indeed a legend, a great guy and lots of fun too! :-)

What are those shoes/brand he has on?
Hi SCYTHE2525 Johnny was wearing EB's (Super Gratton I think) which were a French brand of climbing shoe that were very popular in the 70's! Hope you enjoyed the vid! :-) Cheers Dave
hands-free climbing with a chalk-bag... 🤔🤣
Ha well spotted Miguel! Johnny forgot to take his chalk bag off... ;-) Cheers Dave
Ninjered it
Ninja Warrior! :-)
Why the EB’s I wonder? Those were always cruel to wear
Believe it not Robert, Johnny rather liked his EB's and he found them comfortable to wear and precise to use! :-) Cheers Dave
@David Linnett ... 😂somehow that doesn’t surprise me. Johnny truly was/is a master of movement. Thanks for posting this
No worries Robert, hopefully Johnny and I are teaming up for another filming project soon and if you have missed it check out my "Chalkstorm hands free" vid I made with him! :-) Cheers Dave
chalk bag?
+Gerapa0 sorry?!
You do know that this route is only Hard Severe don't you?
Erm having climbed the route at least six times then yes! And your point is?
Yes - your point being?
Have you tried it feet only? What's the point in being so weirdly elitist about climbing?
