Been fishing snakehead for about 7 years and my biggest tips would be wait two seconds literally count one two before setting the hook after they bite. Stop reeling, wait and then bam. Also they almost NEVER ever ever bite twice but I still always cast at least once more after a missed bite. They love cover on the shore so any time you see pipes or a group of weeds cast right along it. And in terms of lures I have always always used topwater frogs and caught hundreds of snakeheads. Also almost any topwater will work that creates a little splash or wake they love that. Ive used swimbaits on top, waking frogs, popping frogs, and just any other frog in general.
I finally saw my first ever snakehead last month on the Deleware. I would love to catch one. Fantastic almost PB peacock bass and congrats on catching that snake! Spinnerbaits are amazing!!
Where's the Monster Catch? Also, when a snakehead hits your frog, you have to let it eat before setting the hook. Wait two seconds as you reel down on it, then set the hook hard. You'll catch a lot more snakes that way. Spinnerbaits and chatterbaits are both excellent lures for catching snakeheads. You just throw lures until you find what they're hitting in that area that day.
appreciate the advice! i gotta get better at calming the nerves when i first see that top water blowout for sure ! and the “monster catch” was the near PB peacock bass haha, i’d say it was in the top 3 biggest peas i’ve caught
as a snakehead fisherman i can tell u that ur working the frog too fast and not giving them time to eat and also u should try the american snakehead custom frogs they slay the snakes and they last forever
