How wonderful to watch this clip from so long ago. I had the joy of being one of the dancers in the film" Hans Christian Andersen including this number. I'll never forget how excited we all were to have Erik in rehearsal and on set every day for months. He was an idol even then and his presence certainly enhanced the whole experience of working with Roland, Zizi and the entire group of very fortunate dancers. Erik was gorgeous in every way.
Wow! I've seen Zizi Jeanmaire dance with Baryshnikov, Nureyev and now here with Eric Bruhn. She has danced with the best dancers over a very long and rich career. A gracious and charming person: we were both taking Madame Fynnaert's barre au sol at 54 rue de Clichy in Paris and I had a brief chance to speak with her. Even though she was well into her 70's, she still had perfect turnout, beautiful extensions, and exquisite presentation. A true star, and a bright light on the world stage.
One of Petit's beautiful works, that sparkles like champagne, even decades (half a century?!) later. Jeanmaire and Bruhn, both quite young and dazzling, show off their impeccable, amazingly clean footwork. This is a rare gem. Thanks so much for posting it. - [The music is either a section of the traditional Les Patineurs by Émile Waldteufel, or an original creation by Frank Loesser with Walter Scharf. I'm not sure which.]

I love that movie, have watched it multiple times, also loved Zizi dancing with Roland and the whole movie was so happy and scenery so wonderful.
A rare opportunity to see the gorgeous young Erik Bruhn in action! It's such a shame that so little of his dancing has been preserved on film.
I agree with you and to watch him the “pétillante” Zizi Jeanmaire is like a drop of Champagne 🥂
This was one of my favorite movies as a kid. I would watch it at least twice a week, I loved it! Still do.
What movie is this from? 😁

It is Schubert, Rosmunda overture!
Gorgeous!
Few dancers today have such remarkable petite allegro skills. It just isn't emphasized like it used to be.
Parfaitement exécuté ! Ca nous change des gesticulations chorégraphiques actuelles...
The piece comes from the overture to "Rosamunde" by F. Shubert roughly 3 minutes in.
From a movie Hans Christian Andersen, choreography Roland Petit. Zizi plays here main female role.
