I've met Changpuek completely by chance while training in Thailand. I was walking around while i saw some thai guys sharing a meal, sitting on the ground on the roadside and one of them invited me to eat with them. It was hard to talk with them, but i told them i was here for training Muay thai and this was at this moment Changpuek told me "me too, when me young, muay thai!" and he asked my phone, so i gave him and he showed me his highlight on UA-cam, needless to say i was in shock... Few days later he went on a muay thai fight against a Russian guy, knocked him out cold... He was 50 years old if i remember correcly. Super nice and simple guy.
Beautiful story thx 4 sharing💯💪🏿❤
Btw where are/were u training? And did u like it?
@@CoenraadBrinks I was training at Por Promin gym in Hua hin. The training was hardcore, i had my first fight there and holy shit that was hard. Small gym very friendly, definitely recommend it, it's (was?) 50 50 Thai farang which is to me the best to learn proper Muay Thai
@@jamin12342 No idea, but Muay Thai guys from this era end up poor, at best they become trainers (look at samart). But cheap street food in Thailand is fucking awesome and healthy.
@@brunorvrcrt627 I agree, the best food in Thailand is from street vendors! Just stay away from seafood, they're VERY often rotten.
Thai boxers often come from poor families. They didn't fight to prove themselves to be the strongest, they fought for the survival of their family. The blood from their wounds was less frightening than the tears and misery of their families.
But when you find your fighter heart your family can be rich and you not stop fighting
@@roberthoffmann6603 They can still train young fighters to fulfill their dreams
This man had some of the most prolific fights That did cemented as a lethal simple but very effective brutal Martial art.

Changpuek is an absolut beast & legend, biggest respect from switzerland 🇨🇭🇹🇭
I"m Thailand I love Switzerland the most beautiful country in the world❤❤❤🇹🇭
I like how you got motivedia to voiceover. Changpuek was a beast. And was almost always smaller than the european guys. And he knocked them out too. His power over weight divisions was quite impressive considering weight at elite level can really change the fight. Legend.
Ya man the weight different was huge in some fights. Thanks a lot for watching
I have been in Karate, Boxing and Muy Thai all my life and have never heard of him, sad how we are all forgotten in moments. Changpuek one tough Man.
I was training with Tony Moore in Clayton while this warrior was at his peak. I used to watch videos of him and read about his fights with awe.
I don’t forget! Thanks Lawrence!
@@TheMaskedMuller Noted. Fighters and Fitness Centre was a tough gym. No heating, no padding, no excuses. We live and learn.
@@TheMaskedMuller Hey, does Master Sken still live in the North of England? I first heard of him because there was a guy from Glasgow (where I am) used to drive down there to train under him. This was way back in the 90s.
Fun fact. Changpuek holds the record for most overall recorded career knockout wins at 178 from 277 total wins. (A 64% KO Ratio). Which is incredible considering he gave up a lot of size and fought some of the greatest strikers of that Era on multiple occasions.
I imagine many of the rules in those fights limited the thai fighter. Yet another disadvantage. Makes the win even more extraordinary
Seeing the Roufus fight made me eyes dazzle as a kid. Learning there was a Muay Thai school nearby a few years later cinched it. I trained for 5 years, went to a 5-1 amateur record, 4 KOs by knee or elbow, and then MMA until I blew my lead knee completely out on a sticky mat. But I still love watching and rooting the strikers on. There's nothing like a guy getting a surprise wake up Elbow between his meticulously placed blocking gloves.
damn. that must've hurt like hell. i broke my ankle last night from a lowkick because i didnt set the distance quite right. instead of striking with my shin i hit the bag with my ankle. and i didnt check, since i have it outside and its freezing cold, water got into it and it froze, so it was basically a big block of ice. and i hit it with my full power, the bag didnt even move but my ankle cracked.
@@exofiuszero2594 It is really sad to hear. How are you doing now? I hope you could get over your injuiries and keep training like a true martial artist!
@@duytran4744 i took 2 weeks as a break and then started training again, removed that white shit doctors put on me by hand. I have less flexibility in my ankle but its much tougher now. And i cannot roundhouse with the left leg, so it doesnt bother me. But yes, it doesnt hurt anymore and i started training after 2 weeks from the incident
@@exofiuszero2594 you should have done some physiotherapy for the ankle movement. Joints can get restricted if proper recovery isnt followed after an injury
No one would forget ChangPheuk. He is a true legend and pioneer in international fights.
My Kru (Dimitri Cerberes) was one of his pupil. He told me he was a good man with a hardcore way of training (gloves replaced pads during training). A legend
Dude's brave. He was throwing those kicks not caring if he gets injured or not. What a beast!!

Thank you making for this tribute video for Changpuek Kiatsongrit!!! Early, I started searching up this fighter after seeing him defeat Rick Roufus so dramatically. I then found fight after fight of him defeating big names in Kyokushin, Taekwondo and more. This video is a good summary of the Legend Changpuek Kiatsongrit!!!
The forgotten legend. So much respect ♥️♥️
This warrior needs more recognition!
Thank You for this video, and thank you Changpuek(The White Elephant) for being one of the greatest.
That kaoklai high kick will stay with me for life
Kaoklai should be a shamed of himself for beaten up a bigger man! Ha ha ha
30 years ago I went to a muay thai seminar in Brisbane to gain knowledge of the style , and the man speaking and training was master chai chaicirisuit , I believe he spoke of 200 fights in his career no loses, back in the day ,no stop watches but a coconut drilled with holes in a pale of water for timing ,when asked of the scarring on his elbows ,shins he said doctors would pull teeth from them as they would break off and embed themselves in his shins and elbows --- just a weapon of war !!
a legend, i certainly havent forgotten him but its good to show these vids of him, well done lawrence
Easily top 5 of my favorite channels. Quality and care every single time.
Such an amazing story of such a great Muay Thai hero.
This fighter was a legend 💪🏻🙌🏼🙏🏼
Thank You LKSB for sharing these amazing videos and keep reminding us about the accomplishments of these great fighters.🙏
Love the voice narrated in this video ❤️🙏...it's inspiring itself by the narrative voice ...
Love the Muay Thai fighter who win against bigger than him ...he was tough as hell ...dude was a monster
Outstanding - I had seen footage of this fighter before but didn't know the story, cheers for the brain fuel!
Can't get over how he keeps saying Muay THIGH.
Also, the Roufus brothers definitely didn't immediately respect Muay Thai. Duke talked down low kicks immediately after the fight, saying it's without skill.
yep, there are videos of an interview after that fight. making excuses for his brother getting blasted after the loss. They changed the rules to give advantage to RR and he was putting on a great show till Kiatsongrit lit up those legs. i still have this fight on video tape.probably wont play well lol but i always remember this as an eye opening fight cause back then under kick boxing rules, kicks had to be above the waste or they were illegal kicks and could get a penalty.
Yes they even cut off the most deadly technique the elbow and no other Muay Thai rule was allowed too. Those brothers are just coward making everything in their favor and still got their butt whooped
But his little brother won his championship later with low kicks, this is so much drama that I want Jean Claude Van Damme to remake the movie.
Gotta blame someone when you’re butt hurt…
Duke had a brutal low kick and a great fighter too
Its worth noting that, he didnt use full Muay thai. So many rules and conditions to limit his potential. He's fighting against many bigger opponents with just 50% Muay thai or less. Its not a surprise why Muay Thai is probably the most popular standing style because it works and it's been proven countless times. If anything, so many styles nowadays look like Muay thai or even train like Muay thai.
Thank you Lawrence for bringing back such a legend, love it!
You are very special and I always say that your channel is one of the best channels by choosing the best good topics in the world of martial arts in addition to your distinctive style of presentation and value-added information

Is that the motivedia guy? Best damn voice on UA-cam
I trained with him at Sitpholek in Payatta about 10y ago for a while. Also was living next to his noodle stall outside of 7/11. The guy is a legend and he s very respected. When he holds the paos for you he likes to kick back, and you can feel his legendary kick power even at 5%.
I hope he will get his life together it was sad to see him struggle outside of the gym.

Winning dispite the disadvantage is sweet , imagine how the fighter with advantage on weight, size ,reach plus the rules on his side felt after the fight ... unbelievable but a thing of beauty.
Would love to see your commentary on lethwei vs muay Thai.
Is that the Motivedia dude doing the voiceover???
Your legs are the core for everything in combat sports or just in life in general. And as a fellow nakmuay I am actually taking up rollerblading partly because it’s really fucking cool and it also helps with balance core strength Reactivity Leg strength etc And a great form of cardio as well
people forget the feet too, why?!?
i see dudes with massive arms and torso but skinny legs. lol.
good on you bro.
My Kru rollerskates...but was coincidence. She's been doing that long before she took Muay thai. Idk if it helps. Makes sense though. I skateboard for fun...but sometimes I wonder how much of that translates.
@@thomasbrown3793 superbon stakeboards lol I’d say it helps. For me I am specifically doing aggressive in line so it’s way more involved than just fitness blading
@The Tide Rises Oh hell yeah; if I'm not enjoying myself I don't do it. Life's is too short to spend it doing something you hate because you think you'll get something out of it imo
Hey man, consider other past times too. When I trained I cross trained my past time of cycling - i had an old mountain Bike and used to cycle around 20kms every 2nd or 3rd day which was mostly up a real steep, long and windy hill. I had another hill that was more straight up and less windy but for core and leg strength holy shit did it help.
I was 64kgs but would leave bruises on anyone who held pads for me from my kicks! even veterans who were 80-90kgs+
I also did Squash as I am quite high rated but my brother is near the elite level so we would have a game or two a week. That helped my hand eye coordination and reaction timing, balance, burst, AND peipheral vision.
Cycling + Squash with Muay Thai is honestly a deadly combo if you’re main weapons are kicks. Fuck I miss it.
It depends how serious you are though but I found it put me well and above my experience level at the start of my training.
Remember to EAT HEALTHY TOO!!! Fuel the body! I ate shit literally every day but I could due to the intense fitness regime I gave myself. I can only imagine how much more effecient it’d have been if I ate clean during that time..
Respect to the Legend 🙏
Good presentation🙏

Hello - Is there any chance we could see a return/ some fight breakdown videos in the future? Used to enjoy those a lot in the earlier stages of the channel , but most of the content recently seems heavily focused on telling stories ( not necessarily a bad thing ).
