FaultyTowers Dining Experience at Kingsknowes Hotel Galashiels

The service was shambolic, the guests were regularly insulted by the staff and hygiene
had to be questioned as a pet "rat" ran riot through the dining room.
But none of the 70 diners who attended at the Kingsknowes Hotel in Galashiels last week were complaining after a night of total hilarity.
The international touring company "Faulty Towers Dining Experience" performed a special one night charity show with the event a complete sell-out.
Based on the 1970s comedy classic Fawlty Towers, the show crammed in all the gags from the 12 episodes that were made as the diners enjoyed a delicious three-course meal.
Corin Stuart had all the mannerisms of the snobbish and manic Basil Fawlty down to a tee, Imogen Miller-Porter played his domineering wife Sybil to perfection and you could have been forgiven for thinking Anthony Clegg who played hopeless Spanish waiter Manuel really was from Barcelona instead of his native Manchester.
The mayhem began in the hotel's cocktail bar with Manuel misinterpreting Basil's instructions to collect the glasses
which left many guests struggling to focus properly for a while!
Eventually the guests were seated in the hotel's Eildon dining room and after that it was laugh-a-minute stuff during the course of the two-hour meal.
Caroline Lamont, general manager of the Kingsknowes Hotel, hailed the evening a great success with charity the
winner on the night.
She said:"On behalf of all the staff at the Kingsknowes Hotel we would like to thank all those who supported our Faulty Towers charity night. "We raised just over £1,000 for our selected charities - Prostate Cancer UK and Galashiels Rotary Club.
"Thank you to all who attended and donated and sorry to those who were unable to get a ticket, we plan to do it again
in the future."
