    Awesome idea for a video! This inspired me to search what the least killed dungeon bosses/rares/named mobs within dungeons in Classic are, and I compiled a list which sorts them compared to the kill counts of the most popular boss within the same dungeon. This gives us an estimate of how rarely a specific boss is killed within a dungeon run.
    Here are some interesting picks:
    Dark Keeper Vorfalk (195 kills; killed 215.33 times less often than General Angerforge; the Dark Keepers all take the top seats in this list, so I'll only mention this guy)
    Sandarr Dunereaver (218 kills; 82.11 times less often than Witch Doctor Zum'rah)
    Dark Iron Ambassador (159 kills; killed 36.4 times less often than Electrocutioner 6000)
    The list is a bit too long to share here, but that there is about a top 3 listing.

      Thanks a lot - glad you liked the video idea! That's a great idea you have there, and I actually thought of doing something similar based off the kill counts listed on Classic Wowhead. I don't know how they gather that data, but it definitely seems like a strong indicator of which bosses are less popular. It's awesome that you took the time to create a list like that. It would be fun to make a video about the top 10 least killed bosses in Classic WoW (although most will probably be rare spawns so you would have to figure out how to correct for that in some way).

    My favorite thing to do in Uldaman is take people, who don’t know their way through the dungeon, to that boss right in front of the “back entrance” and then walk towards the instance portal and see how many people follow me and keep walking and end up leaving the dungeon while I stand there and wait for them to zone back into the dungeon and then chuckle.

    So I feel I should mention that the warrior quest chest item from RFK was a must have for 60 raids you would put it on use it to gain 30 rage before a boss pull then swap back on your good chest.

      I definitely didn't think of that when I wrote the script for the video and recorded the audio, but it makes a lot of sense. Thanks for pointing it out. I saw an old database comment afterwards mentioning what you're saying. I can see how it would be strong for tanks especially to allow them to get in few Sunder Armors to get threat quickly, but for DPS I'm sure it's great too. I've seen warriors kill any critters they can before a boss fight to gain rage, but if there aren't any around the Brutal or Fire Hardened Hauberk are definitely much more reliable and nice to have. The 1 hour cooldown is a bit long though.

    I can think of a lot of areas in Gnomeregan people tend to skip if they're going for the fastest route. Also a dungeon with 2 entrances FYI.

    • @moegdalswowvideos6800

      Yeah, just because of the size of Gnomeregan I think a lot of people haven't seen all parts of it - especially if you're mostly playing Horde I think since they have fewer quests available for it. I've only done Gnomeregan as a Horde as far as I can remember, and I've usually skipped the trogg / tunnel area in the beginning and The Clean Zone. The Crowd Pummeler also tends to be skipped a lot from my experience.

      I've done gnomer more than your average person. and no I don't mean druids farming crowd pummeler. I mean all of gnomer. The area I've ended up doing the least often would have to be very early on in the dungeon when you make a left down as tunnel instead of heading straight down towards the cleaning room. there's an NPC who starts a quest where you try to close off a tunnel troggs are coming out of or something.
      I also used to do it all the time in Vanilla, but nobody wants to do it in classic. But where you get the yellow punchcard, in those little hole-rooms in the wall, one of th em has an escort quest guy. Nobody bothers with him anymore lol.

    Another great video! It's amazing to see what one might have missed during all this time, thanks for putting it out there!
    On a sidenote (since it has a little relevance to the topic at hand): Just yesterday I was leveling on my fresh tauren druid in Mulgore; feeling a little explorative I ventured (lol) into the Venture Co. Mine a little further than I usually do since I would normally just take care of the quest mob not too far into the mine and then immediately head back so I can finally get on my way to the Barrens.. I was amazed at how far the mine actually stretches into the mountain, it is really well crafted for an early level cave. There is nothing to gain here, no quest objective or anything, so I guess that probably not many people have taken the time to explore further into the mine. There is actually another exit at the far end of the tunnels that leads to a plateau near red rocks, another area I've never been to. There is also an engineering trainer there. It felt really rewarding to find all this, especially since I didn't expect to find anything noteworthy and was merely curious.
    In any case, sorry about the extended storytime, I just felt like sharing :)
    @Moegdal possibly a topic for a part 2 ? ;)

I would have been very amazed if I had discovered it myself as well, and it definitely seems like the extra time you took to explore the cave was worth it - that's awesome! I have actually thought about making a video about the different types of unique caves that exist. A lot of " cave types" are re-used many times throughout the game, but I think there are quite a few that are unique and only used once - I would have to look into that. Maybe it could be combined with the "overlooked / skipped" topic like you mention - I think it's a good idea and thanks a lot for sharing your story!

Also considering that there is another exit point at a specific location (which leads to the plateau above red rocks) makes me question the likelyhood of this cave being used anywhere else. I find it very possible that this is the only cave created this way, which dumbfounded me since this is a cave in a starter zone for which the game doesn't even provide enticement for players to explore it all.

    Another fairly overlooked area is the Viewing Room in Scholomance. Although groups have to run through this room in order to reach Ras Frostwhisper and Darkmaster Gandling, I have never seen any groups actually stop to clear the Viewing Room of all its trash and 2 bosses. Also, I think if you accidentally attack a mob in the Viewing Room, every mob in the room goes from neutral to hostile similar to the Grim Guzzler in BRD.

      Yep, I agree with you on that one although you do pass through the Viewing Room everytime you do the last parts of Scholomance like you say - it's a bit different. The thing I like the most about it perhaps is that you can get a bit anxious when you're going through it - you don't want to press any wrong spell button. The cultist guys all have a dialogue option as well, but I think most people think speaking to them will make them hostile. The room definitely has a lot of cool flavor to it.

    I kill houndmaster like half the time in BRD. I was surprised when you mentioned him, I thought for sure you were going to say Bael'gar.. He's kind of out of the way, and the trash leading up to him is some of the hardest in the entire dungeon despite being such an early boss that doesn't drop much good stuff.
    I think part of it is alliance/horde. Alliance tend to pre-clear the area around houndmaster before the escort anyway, so while they do they it's just a 'oh hey, there's the houndmaster, lets get him, I want his cloak' thing that happens every time you do jailbreak.

    Hi there. Nice video. But i just wanna add some diferent perspective from someone that has been playing the game since 2004:
    Those areas you mention as "overlooked" were not realy that overlooked back then. Some because we did not know the best, most optimal routes, others because they are actualy useful for some other stuff. Im gonna give some examples:
    The uldaman back entrance was heavily utilized for people doing "enchanting trainer runs", as it gives u a way shorter path to the area where the hidden enchanting trainer is. The area with the small golem boss, i remember having to visit it for some quests, and would end up killing the boss because we were there already.
    The BRD area with the hound boss, we used to kill him regularly because we needed to kill the rock boss very often, the one that patrols around that area, and the drops were useful for the hunters in our guild.
    The area in Shadowfang Keep, i remember my very 1st run back then, is the path we took. Then we learned there was a boss in the dinner area. What happens with that area, is that Blizzard sadly forgot to add something there, like a boss or something... honestly, after you learn the dungeon layout, you'll see there is literaly no reazon to clear that hallway... theres a boss in the kitchen and a boss in the dinner room... why would you go the other way around? Is just poor design imo. They should have added more quests or a boss for that part of the dungeon, because it IS realy unique! And is not that people don't know that area, is just that we know there is no reazon for us to go there.

    • @moegdalswowvideos6800
      @moegdalswowvideos6800 4 роки тому +1

      Hello, thanks for sharing your perspective! I realize how we play the game has evolved a lot, and that most of the areas I mention in the video were probably viewed (much) differently back when WoW was first released like you suggest yourself. People didn't know the dungeons as well, and I also think the gaming culture was different with less of the min-max approach that we see today. Also, you might not even agree that the areas I mention in the video are overlooked today, but our view on and approach to dungeons have definitely changed.

    • @josejuanandrade4439
      @josejuanandrade4439 4 роки тому +1

      Oh i agree those areas are now much less visited, if not totaly ignored, But that happened only way after releaze when people had learned the optimal routes. Is something that is bound to happen.
      A more reazon example, in retail, we have this timewalking events, where you revisit old dungeons and get scaled down to the appropiate level. When the cata timewalking event comes out, the dungeon Throne of Tides has 1 boss that NOONE ever does. The reazon is that, without the quest for him anymore, the path to him is extremely dificult. the bos itself is hard, and noone needs his crappy drops.
      Is always gonna happen.
      In vanilla Maraudon, people used to choose the purple side with the satyrs instead of the green one with the oozes, and the green side was pretty much abandoned until later on, when they improved the boss drops and when the nature resistant gear became necesary for AQ, there were a couple drops in that side that were good because of the resistance they had. Man, i remember when we got the staff to just go straight to Princess Theradrass, noone wanted to do purple or green side.

      Or if they know it is only a small detour for a boss they might do it for fun.
      But back in the day when we didn't have access to that much info then taking a detour out of curiosity could result in an hour waste of time which usually resulted in a group disband.

      @@kyleellis9177 Damn, it's been a long time since I've run through that dungeon and I don't remember much from it. You would think Blizzard would have become better in the later expansions at making all parts of a dungeon matter to at least a reasonable degree, but maybe not, hehe.

    I loved running the more rare or obscure/long dungeons in vanilla.... I played a prot warr to tank which made it easier to make a group and would just spam lfg for a dungeon. BFD, RFK/D, SM, MARA, Scholo, I'm surprised you didn't mention Maradon or Dire Mall, those were really big long complicated dungeons that people would not run as much, or stick thru the whole run. I could usually find a group for a full MARA clear tho, to get people that scepter quest which let u port for the "princess runs". Mara takes a long time but gave some real good loot and xp. I am kinda surprised that the dungeons groups in OP's video were rushing and skipping mobs cause I remember groups taking their time and clearing in vanilla. I would always try to clear atleast, but also would run into people who had never ran that dungeon before, and also just people who had time to kill and we could do the whole thing for loot or xp... I think esp the lower lvl 10-55 dungeons where people still needed xp to lvl it was easier to get them to full clear (if everyone had the patience for wipes and stuff lol) Those were good times, really felt like exploring a new world.

      Playing a tank makes it much easier to find groups indeed and you choose where to go (more or less :D) so that's a big positive. People definitely play Classic WoW differently today compared to back in 2004-2006 both because we know more about the game, but I also think people have more of a min-max mentality. Dire Maul and Maraudon probably have some "overlooked" areas as well, but I'm honestly not very familiar with them which might have to do with the fact that I haven't done the dungeons in their entirety and - like you say - that you often skip a lot of parts of them (the exact topic of the video). If I decide to do a part 2 I'll have to look into those dungeons more.

      @@moegdalswowvideos6800 Yea, I figured with everyone knowing where to go that they just rush thru the dungeons. That is too bad, as it seems like you really have an appreciation for the lore and exploration element of the dungeons... and would have some fun with a group of players who like to take their time and really clear out the dungeons. I look forward to a second video from you where you go over some more dungeons, it was nice to look back and remember some of the more obscure locations in classic dungeons. I would def recommend checking out maradon if you haven't before, it is a huge dungeon but I loved it because you go thru like 3-4 different types of enviornments with a variety of different creatures and mob types in each sub zone, and so much to explore with tons of good loot.

      @@Rohan_Trishan If there's just one group member who is in a hurry for whatever reason it's hard to move in a slower tempo. If you're in a group of five friends or something it can be much easier to take your time and be more relaxed. I have done Maraudon a bit but I will probably try to explore it more thoroughly in the future.

      That's a good one as well. It's another example of a dungeon like Razorfen Kraul where you have the option to go left or right at the end of that first, long road coming from the instance portal, and people always go to the right. Going left instead will take you to the area I think you're referring to, and I can't remember / don't know how it looks either.

      Everyone has different experiences. I've only killed the Stone Keeper one time that I can remember (the kill you see in the video), but I haven't ran Uldaman all too many times either. The Hauberks are pretty good used the way you suggest, and I should have mentioned it in the video if I had known / thought about it earlier.

      I assume you're referring to the Pendulum of Doom. When you check on Classic Wowhead, the only type of mob in the Temple Hall that has been recorded to drop the Pendulum is the Stone Steward which there aren't that many of. The dwarves might drop it as well - I don't know - but at least it's not shown as part of their loot table on Wowhead. They do at least drop a lot of other cool rares, however.
